Oil cleanser

I do a double cleanse routine with an oil cleanser first and then a regular hit cloth after (currently using Liz Earle).

Can anyone recommend a good oil cleanser? Not too expensive and without a string smell? The one I currently have is a bright yellow colour and smells of toilet cleaner - I hate it, but it was the only one they had in boots all when I went to buy it a couple of months ago...

Sorry about the typos!

That's hot cloth obviously
And strong not string

DHC cleansing oil. Little bit pricey but lasts for ages and is a cult favourite for a reason! I’ve tried to switch multiple times but nothing compares and I always go back. Leaves my skin wonderfully soft and clean.

LittleBirdBlues · 03/04/2019 10:27

Ok great! Where do you normally buy it?

I get mine from www.dhcuk.co.uk

They currently have 25% off your first order so not wildly expensive either.

QueenofCBA · 03/04/2019 10:40

I just use coconut oil and a hot cloth, my skin is really good now.
You can also use almond or olive oil.

kaldefotter · 03/04/2019 10:47

Would you consider a balm cleanser rather than an oil cleanser?

justilou1 · 03/04/2019 11:07

Can you get to Muji? They have two which are both fabulous. I prefer the “thinner” of the two as I find it emulsifies better. (And I use less.) It’s cheap, virtually colourless, comes in several different-sized bottles (from tiny to enormous), has almost no scent and it takes makeup off like a dream. My skin is very sensitive and I have no problems with it and it takes off the thickest sunscreens as well.

LaPopie · 03/04/2019 11:48

I tried the simple one after A Model Recommends reviewed it. It's got no smell, removes make up and leaves skin clean but not tight.

I've had the dhc one but I found it too drying.

I really don't like using normal oil for cleaning in my skin, it doesn't remove properly and gives me big cysts along jawline. The emulsifying ones work much better on my skin.

Bobby Brown and Caudalie ones were nice too but perfumed, cost lots more than the Simple and worked no better.

PinkieTuscadero · 03/04/2019 11:50

I use

Superfacialist oil cleanser (orange scented)
Body Shop camomile oil
Plain old olive oil (not extra virgin as the smell is too strong)

I didn't get on with coconut oil at all.

XingMing · 03/04/2019 13:47

I see I was pre-empted in recommending the DHC Oil, so just endorsing PP in saying it is excellent, and that I'm on my 3rd or 4th bottle, with one in stock.

TiddleTaddleTat · 03/04/2019 14:38

I tried a lovely sample from Aesop the other day - parsley seed oil cleanser. Smelled amazing.

lightningstrikes · 03/04/2019 14:49

I like the Simple one. I've tried others, but always come back to it as it washes off easily and removes all my eye make up. Others I've tried often leave a residue and I still need a separate eye make up remover to get the last bits of mascara off. I've not tried DHC though, so can't comment on that one.

Swiftier · 03/04/2019 16:50

It’s not an oil but can be used in the same way- the Body Shop Chamomile cleansing butter. It takes off all your make up and leaves your skin nice and soft.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 03/04/2019 18:42

Can I ask the exact name of the Simple product?

LittleBirdBlues · 03/04/2019 19:27

I'd like to know the name of the simple product as well!

I've tried regular almond oil but it rkdidnt work for me at all. Left an oily layer on my skin.

Also tried the super racialist but I really hate the smell, it's just too strong for me.

I like the sound of the Aesop parsley were oil one! Must smell gorgeous.

Also intrigued by the body shop chamomile butter!

Indeed , OP. I looked it up and it's £40 Shock a nice treat, though

Dolly2007 · 03/04/2019 19:39

Deemalogica do a pre cleanse in an oil and balm

Dolly2007 · 03/04/2019 19:39

Dermalogica

Furrytoebean · 03/04/2019 19:39

I love the lush one ultra bland.
It's the only lush product I use but it's amazing. You can go in and ask for a sample.

I also like the beauty pie japanfusion one.

I have been using the origins one but it's too strong for my skin.

Misty9 · 03/04/2019 19:42

I used lush ultrabland but found it a bit too greasy. Loreal do an oil cleanser which I find good - it's sort of orangey yellow in a see through bottle.

LittleBirdBlues · 03/04/2019 19:53

@misty9 funny, I used to use the Loreal one a while ago when it was stocked at Morrison's. In like it, it was very light. But it had been discontinued. Where do you buy it?

keenwasalad · 03/04/2019 19:59

I use eve lom which is a little pricey but lasts. And smells divine

Tolleshunt · 03/04/2019 20:32

You can just use jojoba or even grapeseed. Both are odourless and very kind to skin, while cleaning. Dry efficiently and leaving skin soft. Grapeseed is cheap as chips.

Missmarplesknitting · 03/04/2019 20:34

I like the simple one. It emulsifies well.

Or the chamomile one from body shop, but I prefer the oil to the balm.
