Hi has anyone heard of Tropic skincare ?
Is it as ethic, free from ,non carsonogenic as it claims.
Smells amazing, feels right , or am I being fooled?

MLM

GinGal48 · 02/04/2019 20:43

Sorry, what’s MLM mean.?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 02/04/2019 20:44

A big scam

Brummiegirl15 · 02/04/2019 20:45

Its essentially pyramid selling.

Don’t touch it with a 10 foot barge pole. You buy something you’ll be hounded to within an inch of your life to buy more stuff and then to join it because you’ll make so much money!!!!!

GinGal48 · 02/04/2019 20:51

I didn’t mean to join, I’m meant the products .
I definitely didn’t feel pressured to buy at a pamper party I went to .
I think the products are ethically sourced and it’s an interesting concept

Yeah it's fantastic products.
They are ethically sourced and chemical free. Have a look at the think dirty app to see what goes into your skin.
It is a MLM business model but you don't have to buy into joining them. Just say no.
Just buy your products and move on.

ExpletiveDelighted · 02/04/2019 21:00

Yes, lovely products, no I'm not a seller. I know several people who sell or who have sold them and none of them has put any pressure on me to join up or buy anything more than I want.

GemmeFatale · 02/04/2019 21:00

Is this some sort of marketing tactic the mlm’s are promoting now?

PatchworkElmer · 02/04/2019 21:03

It’s a shame that it’s an MLM, because everything else about it seems to prioritise ethics. But to my mind, an MLM can never be an ethical business, and I don’t want to support that.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 02/04/2019 21:05

An MLM can't be ethical. It's a contradiction in terms. Yes you could just buy the products and withstand the pressure to join, but all that does is give the rep/salesperson/independent business owner hope that might keep them throwing good money after bad for a few more months.

I'd steer clear.

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/04/2019 21:08

Their website has all the ingredients for each product plus details of their various certifications. Not sure why asking on here would be any help in comparison.

And yes it's a MLM which in itself is not ethical, no matter what they're selling.

EatenByDinosaurs · 02/04/2019 21:08

Precisely what Patchwork said. I wouldn't buy from an MLM on ethical grounds, however otherwise ethical their products claim to be.

I have a friend who used to sell tropic stuff - she stopped a few months back as she couldn't be bothered to continue but I've been using the facewash for a couple of years now and really like it. She didn't make a profit nor a loss so has no regrets.
The products I've tried have all been lovely albeit expensive!

HotPriest · 02/04/2019 21:23

The products in a mlm are always expensive because they have to pay commission to all the different pyramid levels.

Comefromaway · 02/04/2019 21:27

I’ve never tried them I know someone who sells them but she runs a hair & beauty salon so I guess she has a ready made clientele.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/04/2019 21:31

Some of it is nice, but I can't get my head around the level of product margin that allows for all the cuts that get taken. And a lot of plastic.

A friend sells it, and if her social media and holiday journals are to be believed she is selling thousands every month. All in a few hours work from her mobile.#girlboss

Crystal2019 · 03/04/2019 17:18

I really like some of the products. I researched into this before becoming an Ambassador. Some products are refillable so they're working on the waste part, but they're certainly Cruelty-free International and Leaping Bunny, carbon neutral and made in England. Check out the ingredients on the website. I went to a party over a year before I decided to join, genuinely didn't feel pressure (as I've seen with some) and I didn't buy anything in that party.

I don't get the MLM holdback (I've not got enough to compare with others) but myself, my manager and her manager all earn 25% of what we sell. They're not cheap products but that's reflected in the ingredients. If I was going to buy less from somewhere, it'd be the major branches of skincare and makeup who sell the same products to us as to China where animal testing is compulsory. Not here to sell, just to say don't tar all MLM marketing with the same brush as Tropic is a much flatter model with no shops or CEO's to pay for! xx

Buffymum · 03/04/2019 17:23

I loved Their products and so does my daughter - the green face mask has done wonders for her hormonal skin .
No pressure at all to join or whatever , I just put my order in and that’s it !

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 03/04/2019 18:17

Tropic is a much flatter model with no shops or CEO's to pay for!

Doesn't Tropic have a CEO and Lord Sug to pay for?

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/04/2019 18:22

"don't tar all MLM marketing with the same brush"

Yes, yes I will. Because they all involve exploiting more vulnerable/naive people (usually women) in order to make any money. Stating that your organisation exploits a few less people doesn't make it any better.

EatenByDinosaurs · 03/04/2019 18:31

If they don't have CEO's, who, precisely is making the decisions and running the company, or is it run as a commune? Hmm

Whenever I read about MLMs I always think the various exposés on them, and how the people selling it get so suckered in that they'll or say anything to try to convince people "their" brand is different to other MLMs. Its always the same script Sad

EatenByDinosaurs · 03/04/2019 18:32
  • do or say anything
OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 03/04/2019 18:36

I didn’t realise Tropic was MLM! The beauty salon I go to use these products and have them available to buy (they’ve never so much as mentioned them). I was really impressed with some of the products used at my facial this morning but glad I didn’t think to ask about buying them if they are MLM.

SpeckledyHen · 03/04/2019 18:38

Lord Sugar is an investor in the business.
