Easy peasy things to make me feel more 'together'

Can I get your suggestions? I had pnd with my first child, and then last year a bereavement and new baby, and I just look shocking, tired, skin is dull, hair always pulled back, hate all my clothes. I want to look 'together'.

Help me with those easy peasy ways you make yourself feel better. I have about 30 seconds to get ready each morning Confused

Oh, I thought of something else, which is actually possibly my most useful tip.

As soon as I get in from work, i take my makeup off, cleanse, then do my night skincare stuff. It means I never get to bedtime and think, oh, I can’t be bothered, I’m too tired and will use a facial wipe. (My DP is so lucky that he mainly sees me with an oily face and my glasses on.)

I paint my toenails bright red. It's so much nicer to glance down and see a splash of colour than bare nail.

As for lipstick - what about those of us who cannot stand any form of it? I have never been able to wear it, it just feels heavy and gunky and grim. Lip gloss, lip stick, lip paint - all just horrible.

Clean teeth, wash my face, deodorant, hair up, mascara, sunglasses. Takes less than 5 minutes.

For a quick 0-100 has to be lipstick, bright coloured earrings/top/scarf/necklace and a spritz of perfume. Plus if I have 5-10 minutes I do my "blow dry" cheat- dry shampoo, a little back combing and the rest is done with straighteners but makes it look like it's been blow dried.

Love red lipstick but really don't get the sunglasses thing

QueenKubauOfKish · 03/04/2019 13:30

I have a pair of cream coloured, slightly cat-eye (not ridiculously so) sunglasses, and they just make any outfit look so much better and more pulled together - whether on my face or propped on my head. I have no idea why but they definitely work!

I'm on quite a budget so it's Primark for me! Worn up high with a silky t-shirt tucked in.

Clinique cc cream, mascara and chubby stick for 3 min. Make up.
Aveda leave in hair conditioner to prevent frizzy hair.
A uniform. In summer it tends to be a variation on blues with white with a bit of tan. Hence I have many plain white T-shirt’s & navy cotton jumpers that go with all the bottoms . I’ve already emptied my winter colours out of the wardrobe .
Secondly have frequent clear outs and buy multiples of things you really like. I bought 5 white Vildnis t shirts in the sales over Xmas as I really loved the slouchy shape. Today I have one layered under a old Whistles navy cashmere jumper as it peeps out underneath. I will wear them all summer.

I prefer natural pink lips ie Chanel Mademoiselle or Bourgois matte pinks. Concealer and cream foundation with a cream blusher. Takes a couple of minutes. You can define eyes as well with kohl pencils and natural or smoky eye. Keep hair straighteners by the front door and run them over hair before you leave house. Just use heat protection spray before. Tidy eyebrows and a mani/pedi. Clothes depend on personal style but always clean and ironed.

newyear Worn up high with a silky t-shirt tucked in.

What does high mean, given it'd normally be round your waist anyway? Right under your boobs?

Haypanky · 04/04/2019 14:17

What's the silky tshirt??

Coffeepot72 · 04/04/2019 14:33

Following this thread with interest. I confess to being a tad high maintenance, and spend ages faffing around with clothes/hair/make-up and still never quite feel 'together' - so heaven knows what I'm doing wrong!

SaborDeSoledad · 04/04/2019 14:55

Two young children, so in the same boat. I am a terrible example today, but I have recently bought a Tawny Rose lipstick by No7 and it goes with everything. I often wear it without any other makeup (it stays in the changing bag). I also use the Queen's favourite Essie nail varnish in Ballet Slippers. One coat is usually all I have time for anyway and it still looks good, even on chewed nails like mine!

I totally agree about eyebrows being the key to looking groomed. I tweeze stray hairs in the shaving mirror when the kids are in the bath!

Definitely try tubing mascara. It can’t smudge under your eyes. No 7 in the gold tube or L’Oréal in the double ended burgundy tube, Nyx Doll Eye or Clinique Lash Power all get good reviews.

Tinyandpetite · 17/12/2019 20:57

I tint my own lashes and brows, I get them threaded every 3 weeks. So cheap and easy, I feel so much better with them done x

Being a good weight for your build.
Eating well, all the time (well, nearly)
Only owning clothes that suit you.
Preferably washing hair the night before so it's quick to style.
