Inoffensive or bleurgh?

Desperately trying to find shoes that will stop me wanting to cut off my feet, I'm fed up being uncomfortable.

I'm 42 and on the larger side, I wear dresses and skirts most days.

I tried them this afternoon and didn't want to take them off 😬

Sorry for the hideous link!

Inoffensive to me. If they fit well and are comfortable wear them!

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 21:54

I'm tempted, my dd who is 18 thought they were very "old fashioned and not in a good way".
I might need to buy them and try them with a few different things!

Jacksback · 30/03/2019 21:59

Buy them ! You have already said you didn’t want to take them off 😀
Life is too short for sore feet
And flats are in , ( or what about trainers , both ‘in ‘ and comfortable

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:01

I wondered about trainers @Jacks but im chunky of calf and I think trainers make me look worse. I do covet my both my dd's vans though

TigerDroveAgain · 30/03/2019 22:05

I’m rather chunky too. I wouldn’t touch these with a bargepole, sorry. Do you need to be formal? In which case, Clark’s brogues. If not, Converse.

Jacksback · 30/03/2019 22:14

Seconding tiger ,I have brogues from Clarke’s and next do a chunkier version which I also have , chunkier calves will be fine with trainers /converse , skinner legs can look like Minnie Mouse imo 🤭
Next version below very comfortable

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:14

I've tried the Hamble Oak @TigerDroveAgain but foolishly didn't buy the wide fitting ones. Gave up and sold them on eBay!
I wasn't 100% sure of them tbh - felt they were a bit too clodhoppery? Gorgeous in the patent and I love them on others.

Maybe dainty converse would work?

Jacksback · 30/03/2019 22:16

Don’t think it posted

Inoffensive or bleurgh?
sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:17

Minnie Mouse @Jacksback 😂
I might give the next ones a go then, cheaper than the clarks and look as nice

confusedandemployed · 30/03/2019 22:19

I'm not fond but I have a huge bunyon, ingrowing toenail and very wide feet. If you find shoes that don't make you murderous - buy them!

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:22

They made me sigh with relief @confusedandemployed 😂

I have bunions in the making and plantar fasciitis that is temporarily quiet. I walk to work and am on my feet all day so really don't want to risk it coming back.

Jacksback · 30/03/2019 22:24

Or m and s slingbacks with small heel , bought some in a normal fit and love them

Inoffensive or bleurgh?
sagradafamiliar · 30/03/2019 22:24

Oh I love them! I think they're on trend.

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:31

I like the black wedges @Jacksback, good find.
@sagradafamiliar I knew it!! I'm never on trend, usually about 3 yrs behind 😂
I tried on the black but was tempted by the pink or nude? Actually the rust too was lovely

OP posts:
SoHotADragonRetired · 30/03/2019 22:31

I... think they're the kind of thing which could look super cool, minimalist and understated with the right outfit, but frump city with the wrong one.

What do you plan to wear them with? Tassel loafers or brogues could be very comfortable and would give you a bit more leeway in getting the rest of the outfit right.

Ikeameatballs · 30/03/2019 22:33

I don’t like the colour, I’m not a fan of nude shoes in general, but I like the style.

DerelictWreck · 30/03/2019 22:35

I think they're lovely! And for what it's worth I'm only a few years older than your DD, so it's not an age thing!

sagradafamiliar · 30/03/2019 22:38

These kept selling out last year but they've restocked. Most comfy shoes ever and cheap enough to buy a couple of different colours.

sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:42

I suppose that's my other big worry @SoHotADragonRetired -I'm pretty sure I embody frump at times.
I tend to wear knee length dresses, usually fit and flare type (I have a few DP billie and blossom type) usually with a wee cardie over the top. Or skirts (white stuff etc) with a fine knit jumper. Have worn tights and boots all winter but my boots are almost in pieces!
I'm a 16/18 about 5ft 6".
@Ikeameatballs there are other colours - looking at them again I think I like the rust the most, was tempted by the nude as would go with everything? Or go with nothing?

OP posts:
sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:43

Thank you @DerelictWreck!

OP posts:
sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:44

Oh and you can't be a @DerelictWreck if you're that young Wink

OP posts:
sassansbelle · 30/03/2019 22:45

I really like those (especially in red) @sagradafamiliar but I would have said they're verging on frumpy?

Maybe it's me that makes things looks frumpy?

OP posts:
hugoagogo · 30/03/2019 22:53

Those m&s ones are not nice to look at.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/03/2019 22:54

If you are prone to PF then Converse might be aggrevating . I love my Converse but there's no support and minimal cushioning ( I have skinny feet )

sagradafamiliar · 30/03/2019 22:59

Yet all the Instagrammers and bloggers caused them to sell like hot cakes last year. I have a few and am far from frumpy Wink. I've seen the style all over the place but they're well comfy as well.
