I don't think there's a person born who can actually see their own bum hole. I also think it's quite sad that people are ashamed of having body hair.

Palominoo · 24/03/2019 14:15

What if you squat over a mirror? I'm pretty sure you can catch yourself winking at yourself that way.

I really didnt know that people have their bum holes waxed...and get other people to do it! I just couldnt be,erm, arsed. But each to their own and all that

Originofstars · 24/03/2019 16:04

I'm not in the least ashamed of having body hair. I'm a mammal, it's a biological fact. I just prefer not to have it, having tried having it and not. Since at least the priests of Egypt, people have been shaving off their body hair.

BertrandRussell · 24/03/2019 16:59

“I'm not in the least ashamed of having body hair.”

Good. Sadly many people, including the OP are. And young women are missing out on smear tests because we now have such an unrealistic idea of what adult women’s genitals look like that that are ashamed of their perfectly normal bodies. And women are risking giving themselves chemical burns to bleach and take the hair off their anuses. How absolutely fucked up is that.

StarlightLady · 24/03/2019 17:19

First of all can I congratulate the OP in standing up to lecturing bullies telling her what she should and shouldn’t do with her own body hair and asking questions which she has not asked.

Options:

Waxing.
Any good salon will offer to do the full undercarriage when doing a Hollywood. Some beauticians may ask you to go on all fours, but usually they will lift your legs up or ask you to lay on each side. It is no more painfull than having your ears pierced, providing you don’t go for it just before a period. Advantages: Regrowth is softer. Diisadvanages: It costs more. You can’t do it yourself. You need more regrowth before your next visit.

Shaving:
I found the easiest way was sitting on the loo. Use a new blade or razor. I would recommend the Wilkinson Rasberry Quattro. Advantages. Easy to do yourself. Can fo it as regularly as you want. Disadvantages: can be more stubbly.

Veet etc: Only leave on for half the suggested time as for legs/underarms. Advantages: Can be done at home. Softer regrowth than shaving. Disadvantages: you need a mirror and basic yoga to check results.

I tend to vary between all 3. I often go for waxing and then get bored with regrowth and switch back to the other options.

O4FS · 24/03/2019 17:24

I would recommend finding a salon that specialises in waxing. They’d have seen it all before.

It’s not dignified but you can distract yourself with a magazine or something and let them get on with it.

You get used to it very quickly and it stops being embarrassing.

O4FS · 24/03/2019 17:29

Also, I am middle aged, overweight and hairy. I get waxed eyebrows to toes. All off and low maintenance.

Originofstars · 24/03/2019 17:50

I hear you Bertrand but I can't relate. Literally anything women do or wear can be interpreted as conforming to a male ideal. Sometimes we do things because it pleases men and that can be fucked up. Sometimes we do the same things to please ourselves.

Dillydallyingthrough · 24/03/2019 18:01

OP I get it I'm light skinned with dark, thick hair and very hairy think all over my back, stomach (and I don't mean that soft hair I mean thick hair a couple of inches)- just get it waxed, theyve seen everything and couldn't care less how much hairs there.

And yes I do it for myself I like the way it feels! I wish people wouldn't start with the lectures on not removing body hair, it isn't what the OP asked but you always see it on here.

Lulu1919 · 24/03/2019 18:08

Sensitive skin veet works !

Witchofthenorth · 24/03/2019 18:14

In use my bikini trimmer, or rather, DP does it for me while I'm bent over the bath.
No stubble rash, no ingrown hairs and no pain of waxing.

polkadotpixie · 24/03/2019 18:15

I get a professional Brazilian wax at a waxing only salon. Pricey but they do a great job

Bum hole is done lying on my back with knees drawn up. That bit is nowhere near as painful as labia IMO

icannotremember · 24/03/2019 18:18

I've shaved it, waxed it and 'magic shave powder'ed it. It's perfectly normal hair to have, and perfectly fine to remove it if you want to. I go months and months not bothering and then one day I'll just fancy doing it, so I do. I don't think dh even notices!

GrayRock · 25/03/2019 00:04

This thread has entertained me to no end!

Reactions from people who got all upset that this is even happening in the 21st century almost made me think it's their hair OP is planning to remove!

Equally if you have difficulty imagining a 'bikini yeti', rest assured some of us don't really have to imagine! For me it really is wild if I do nothing. I know this because I recently struggled with basic yoga due to a cycling accident and only got round to being able to trim it again today. It feels so good I shall celebrate!

I shave sometimes, it's easier then trimming but then it irritates the skin for 2-3 days afterwards. Have never done waxing because of the cost. Most of the time I trim it using basic yoga (StarlightLady Wink) and a freestanding mirror like this one: www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-freestanding-mirror-small/p/0327643

StarlightLady · 25/03/2019 05:05

GrayRock

I agree with your comments about some people are reacting as if the OP wants ro remove other people’s hair.

If shaving is causing irritation, try shaving with a good quality hair conditioner and a 4 bladed razor. Works for me!

Mirror? Seriously, it’s a health issue. Every woman should own a mirror where she can inspect herself and confirm that all is well with the world.

Long haired cats can also demonstrate hair removal benefits. I’ll say no more.

BumboBaggins · 25/03/2019 14:21

I would suggest laser hair removal (amazing) but it’s a bit spendy. But brilliant!!

Vitalogy · 25/03/2019 14:33

Just be careful if you've got piles that's all I'm saying Shock

JenniferJareau · 25/03/2019 17:35

@BumboBaggins How painful is laser hair removal please?

BumboBaggins · 25/03/2019 20:48

@JenniferJareau I personally find waxing unbearably painful so I think it’s less bad than that. It feels like small electric shocks I guess. Some bits are more painful than others. The armpits for example I find totally fine. The lady parts are definitely more sensitive but it really doesn’t take very long and the therapist can keep pausing if you want them too. I’m a bit of a wuss on stuff like this so the fact that I’ve had it done speaks volumes!!

JenniferJareau · 26/03/2019 06:33

@BumboBaggins Thanks

YemenRoadYemen · 26/03/2019 06:43

Do people seriously have anus hair that visibly protrudes from their arse in a standing position, and from their swimming costume...?

FML.

I don't blame you for removing it, if that's the case.

Notwiththeseknees · 26/03/2019 07:14

Another disadvantage is to a bare anus is.............it makes your farts really noisy. Blush

anniehm · 26/03/2019 07:29

It's on the waxing price list at the salon I use, I haven't done it so cannot tell you what it's like. Hollywood is painful though
