Can anyone recommend a good one? I've used the Liz Earle, which I liked, wanted to try others, loved the boots no7 but they discontinued it. Used the N Spa one for about a year, thought I'd try another one as better for your skin to change products sometimes, bought the Superdrug vitamin E one, I liked it but have broken out in a lot of spots since using it so guess I won't buy that one again.

I use the Sanctuary one which is sold in Boots - I've used it for years. Occasionally try another one but always go back to this one. And I think it's pretty good value for money too - often on offer in Boots.

fimoing123 · 22/03/2019 11:06

I've just bought the ALdi one, used for the first time last night. I think it's creamier than both LE and Superdrug one and has a stronger, more eucalyptus scent than Superdrug.

So far, so good - I actually prefer it to LE.

better for your skin to change products sometimes

Is it? Is there actual good quality evidence for that or is it just that we like to try new things, so the ‘skin/hair gets ‘used’ to products and they aren’t as effective over time’ rhetoric suits our consumerist preferences?

M&S do a very nice one which I use:

I’ve tried the Superdrug one but didn’t like the texture.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 22/03/2019 11:25

I love the Body Shop camomile one

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 22/03/2019 11:32

Also if you want to spend more money, the Emma Hardie Moringa balm is lush.

LHMB · 22/03/2019 12:01

Thanks for your suggestions everyone, I'll give them a try.

EntirelyAnonymised I don't know for sure, that's just what a girl who used to do facials told me once, that you should change your face products every so often or your skin gets used to the one thing and it stops working as effectively. No idea if that's actually true but I know I have several different shampoo and conditioner brands I like to switch around

According to this morning's Guardian, ALDI hot cloth cleanser is as good as Liz Earle - thats where I'll be going from now on.

I was using Clinique balm but I switched to Boots Botanics and it's lovely - but I will us the Aldi one when it is gone (if my local store have it - they never seem to have the best stuff).

Also read the article - they compared all the Aldi knock offs to the real thing and they all came out on top bar one!

Annasgirl · 22/03/2019 13:10

sorry @fimoing123 I didn't read the replies before I posted!!!

Loubyloulou88 · 22/03/2019 13:35

I love Liz Earle but can also vouch for the Sanctuary Spa cream cleanser. It's identical in texture and smells lovely whilst being that bit cheaper.

LHMB · 22/03/2019 13:38

Thanks all, I'll give them all a try eventually and see which I prefer :)

As above, I vouch for the Marks & Spencers one and the Body Shop camomile one a close second.

The Clinique take the day off is an excellent one if you are wanting to shift heavy makeup or waterproof mascara but I didnt feel my skin got any extra benefits from it.

Neals Yard wild rose beauty balm is a thing of wonder but out of budget for me & a very occaisional treat.

I couldn't get on with the Liz Earle as the menthol made my eyes water for hours

ozymandiusking · 22/03/2019 13:41

I have just looked on the Boots site, and I'm sure they are still doing it.
It's called radiant results hot cloth cleanser.
I think it's good. Aldi have one as well which is pretty good.

LHMB · 22/03/2019 13:41

Thanks, I agree the LE does have a menthol smell to it

OP posts:
LHMB · 22/03/2019 13:43

ozymandiusking i think it's a different one to the one I tried, they discontinued and brought out a new one, which going by the reviews is not very good

Will have to find my nearest Aldi and give theirs a try

Gingersstuff · 22/03/2019 13:44

You can pretty much use any cleanser as a hot cloth one. Just apply and use a facecloth to wipe it off. I knit my own and they’ve got a bit of texture to them which means my face gets a bit of exfoliating at the same time. Having said that I do like the Liz Earle one and the Body Shop camomile stuff is lovely.

Ballbags · 22/03/2019 13:46

Another vote for Aldi, it is excellent. I've tried them all over the years, Emma Hardie is excellent too but very expensive.

myidentitymycrisis · 22/03/2019 13:47

I am using one from Waitrose at the moment, it’s quite gritty.

Sallyspoons · 22/03/2019 13:51

Yet another vote for the Aldi one

LesLavandes · 22/03/2019 13:52

Eve Lom

LillyBugg · 22/03/2019 13:54

You have to wait for Aldi to release it on special buy to be able to get it. And it only came out a couple of weeks ago so I expect you'll be waiting a couple of months OP. You have to get in quick because it sells out quickly. I bought two last time Blush

LHMB · 22/03/2019 15:04

Thanks LillyBugg.
Thanks for all the suggestions, quite a few to try out :)

I like the BodyShop Camomile Butter if I have make-up on.

Aldi/Superdrug if it's mainly cleansing (more clay , less oily)

And there's GoodThings Manuka Honey which smells gorgeous .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2019 16:00

Oh , forgot one -
Superdrug Optimum Balm. It is heavier than BodyShop, its a night time one so good if I've been out up London and my skin is grotty.

There's Lush Ultrabland , I found it a bit gritty but I think it varies between bathches .

Anyone tried the Elemis Balm?
