Please help me with my saggy eyelids. Any make up tips?

I've always had heavy, saggy eyelids/brows that have always made me look older. I've been blessed though with full lips so I have always used lip colour to detract from my droopy lids. You can't see my eye crease or my top lid so I never know how to apply eye shadow without drawing attention to my saggy lids. Anyone have any makeup tips please. I considered surgery once but I'm too scared. I'm in my 40's now.

Try applying eyeshadow to give the appearance of a higher crease which gives depth to the eyelid.

I'm in my fifties and if I want to get Bette Davis eyes this is what works for me -

I apply concealer to my actual eyelid. This immediately makes th eyelid look bigger/stand out.

Then using a brush I apply a W7 prism 3d highlighting powder just under browbone and on eyelid. It's a cheapo brand but much better than any 'expensive' ones of. Asimar colour.

Then using a brush I apply a taupe eyeshadow in a rainbow shape in the eye socket but making sure it's not below the socket line.

Then using a fine brush I use a black eyeshadow to add depth to the socket by making a thin line in the socket and then blending.

Using a flat brush I then use the black eyeshadow as an eyeliner just above my top lashes. I also use it under my bottom. Lashes but blend very well. It suit am wbut not everyone to line under their bottom lashes so see if it suits you.

Then mascara. I don't need to curl my lashes but it can help to open the eye up.

Have the surgery. I had mine week and a half ago and I love the results. Under local, surgery took only 15 minutes and the entire process was totally painless.

MissSmiley · 18/03/2019 18:28

Katharine how much did you pay and was it pain free under local?

KatharinaRosalie · 18/03/2019 18:31

Yes, didn't feel a thing. No pain afterwards either, had stocked up on painkillers but didn't need any. I paid 1000 quid but I did it in Estonia. Let me try to find some photos.

Wow that’s pretty amazing Katharina, didn’t it bruise loads? I’d expect to look like I’d been punched after that kids of surgery.

Palominoo · 18/03/2019 18:44

You look fantastic. You are young though.

I.wondee if the results are as good on older thinner skin.

Jacksback · 18/03/2019 18:50

Can I ask , what exactly do they do ? Make a slit in the socket and remove fat / excess skin ?
You look great btw 🙂

Stormyday · 18/03/2019 18:56

I do very similar to palominoo

wittyusermane · 18/03/2019 19:02

An ad popped up in my FB newsfeed recently advertising these 'invisible' stickers designed to help with exactly this. You put them on your eyelids.

This isn't an issue I have yet but I was so impressed by the photos and all the positive (very genuine looking!) comments from users that I made a mental note to remember they existed, for when the time comes!

Unfortunately I don't recall what they were actually called though...

KatharinaRosalie · 18/03/2019 19:05

I'm 40 so not a spring chicken. But true, if you have saggy lids, it's better to get them done sooner than later, healing is faster too.
Jacks basically cut a piece of skin off and sew it back together.

KatharinaRosalie · 18/03/2019 19:10

rach this is my 2nd day photo, this is as bad as it got. You would need time off until they take the stitches out (about day 4) but after that I could go around without scaring people.

ArtNotDishes · 18/03/2019 19:43

Thanks for all your replies x I will give the make up tips a go Palominoo thanks! Katharina you look fabulous, I think I'm just sooo scared to do this though. I wish I was brave x

I really want this done - how much research did you do to find the right surgeon @KatherinaRosalie

AuntieOxident · 23/03/2019 15:24

God yes, me too! I have looked at prices at my local private hospital and it's about 6,000 quid!
Any links please Katharina?
Mind you I'd say I was a good 20 years older than you.....Sad

loveskaka · 23/03/2019 15:30

Sorry missed the posts yesterday, @BirdieInTheHand and @AuntieOxident

As said, I went to Estonia - I'm Estonian, so it was easy for me to research local options. I checked the majority, I think, and didn't even consider un-known facilities that seem to advertise solely for surgery tourists. Talked to some people as well, who had various procedures done and were either satisfied or not.
I went to this guy - he's one of the most well known plastic surgeons in the country. erahaigla.ee/en/meie-tootajad#dr-juri-kullamaa-2
I would have been also happy with Dr Kirjanen from that hospital.

You might want to take a look also at this hospital, has a very good reputation: clinica.ee
(I didn't choose that one as it's in another town than the airport, about 2h drive).
Honestly, I should have done it earlier, so lovely to have actual eyelids!

Motherofcreek · 24/03/2019 08:55

Plasma pen lifting results are Amazing

Palominoo · 24/03/2019 09:18

I can't really see enough difference here to justify the pain and the cost

Palominoo · 24/03/2019 09:20

I bought the original eyelid stickers when they first came out, I think Aniston mentioned she used them with suceds, but I didn't get on with them.

But, that was a few years ago so I'm going to try a cheap version that look the same and see what they're like

Motherofcreek · 24/03/2019 09:26

palo my friend does it. The results are amazing. Especially on severe stretch marks on the tummy. It really does work

soberfabulous · 24/03/2019 09:34

Have the surgery! My husband did and it looks amazing. I'll be doing it too when the time comes.
