Hyaluronic Acid recommendations please

Not The Ordinary! I’m using it atm and hate it. Loathe how it leaves what I can only describe as a ‘film’ on my face and, by the time I add moisturiser and primer, foundation often pils. Ugh! Any suggestions for something different please?

Thanks.

I've been using indeed labs hydraluron and it sinks right in, Make up goes on nicely with it.

BearFoxBear · 15/03/2019 22:46

I hated it too. Nip+ Fab Dragons blood fix plumping serum is sooo much better.

Laquila · 15/03/2019 22:56

The Hado Labo one is meant to be very good. I think it’s marketed as a hyaluronic serum.

movinonup · 16/03/2019 00:31

Bravura London do an excellent one.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 16/03/2019 00:38

Samantha Sona do a lovely Vitamin C Serum with Kakadu Plum and something else. I don’t know if it has Hyaluronic Acid though.

Milomonster · 16/03/2019 08:55

Another vote for Hada Labo. My skin looks really hydrated under my moisturizer.

Myusernameismud · 16/03/2019 08:57

Oh don't say that! Is all the Ordinary stuff cack? Someone recommended me their moisturising factors for my ove sensitive skin which can't tolerate oils or silicones.

Babysharkdoodoodoodo · 16/03/2019 09:03

Hero project. Hyasoft, rebought after using the one in the M&S advent calendar. Lovely stuff and doesn't leave a film.

I got the Ordinary one in my look fantastic box and you have to only use the teeniest amount or, as you say, it leaves a film. And massage it in well. I won't be re-buying though.

ElspethFlashman · 16/03/2019 09:07

The Vichy 89 has no silicone so basically feels like you're putting water on your face.

I have been given the Ordinary one by two different people. Very kind, but yeah it's not my favourite. Definitely gloopier than I was expecting and I wouldn't purchase it myself. Even the other Vichy one that has a bit of silicone in it (Aqualia or something) is much lighter and more refreshing that the Ordinary one.

ElspethFlashman · 16/03/2019 09:09

Oh and the Ordinary moisturising factor is crap. The 30ml lasted me just 4 weeks and tbh it wasn't a very nourishing moisturiser at all. I was so underwhelmed.

RoseReally · 16/03/2019 09:10

Another vote for Hada Labo.

DollyPartonsBeard · 16/03/2019 09:18

Seconding the Hyasoft, I'm loving it. It seems to layer without bobbling and makes a big difference to my skin.

Backseatonthebus · 16/03/2019 09:26

Thank you for this thread OP, really useful. I use NIOD currently which am really pleased with, but interested in other brands. Which Hada Labo HA product would you all recommend for older, dry skin?

shinyNewPound · 16/03/2019 09:32

I think Hyaluronic acid in its purest form is gel like, so the ordinary one probably has a decent amount in compared to others that probably have a drop. I think glycerin might be more what you are after.

Palominoo · 16/03/2019 09:52

The Ordinary products are crap. I bought loads of their products and tried them over a period of time and they were all utterly useless.

I recommend Sr skincare instead which is also budget friendly prices but the products work.

I like this one especially -

Hydraloe

CutesyUserName · 16/03/2019 10:28

Another Hado Labo vote here. It can feel a little sticky, but that goes away once you put moisturiser or sunscreen on the top.

Golden0ldie · 16/03/2019 10:29

Sorry, just getting back now. Thank you for all the recommendations which I shall Google in a sec. Does The Ordinary contain silicone? That might be why it doesn't suit my skin. Also, the poster who commented on the purest hyaluronic acid being gel form - that's interesting. After The Ordinary, I would have ruled out a gel but maybe without silicone it would be okay. I was using Guerlain Aqua Serum which contained hyaluronic and is lovely but just too expensive.

Myusernameismud · 16/03/2019 10:48

No, the Ordinary hyaluronic acid is silicone free. Hence why I was going to give it a go, although I probably won't now!

BertBox · 16/03/2019 10:58

I'm on about my 5th lot of Nip&Fab, it makes a visible difference to me. Not sure about silicons though.
The Ordinary did absolutely nothing.

Milomonster · 16/03/2019 12:59

I recommended the HL one. Just picked up the Nip and Fab Dragon’s Blood one from TK Maxx for a fiver. Goes on beautifully under my moisturizer and foundation. Instant result. I used their glycolic pads first though (which contains HLA, if I’m not mistaken).
Go to your nearest TK Maxx as they might have some N&F - there were loads of products in the London one. Amazing prices.

Golden0ldie · 16/03/2019 13:27

Thanks for clarifying that myusername. Am tempted by the Hyasoft as I can pick it up in Mark's but now that a few of you have mentioned it, I think I have tried a sample of the Dragons Bloid before and quite liked it. Can't get to a TK Maxx today but will keep an eye out elsewhere. Thanks all.

I'm loving Loreal Hydra Genius.

suze28 · 16/03/2019 16:53

I'm a huge fan of Hada Labo Premium which is thicker than the other one (can't remember its name).

Winenotttea · 16/03/2019 19:23

I use NIOD which is watery and sinks in really quickly with no stickiness or residue.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/03/2019 19:44

I don't get on with Hada Labo. Not sure why but it breaks me out terribly. I used Hyalimide Sensitive Fix till recently which contains hyaluronic acid but it's ££. So now I'm going to give Garden Of Wisdom a go. Tiny bottle though, hope it's not too thick.
