I’m trying to move away from shower gel to bars of soap. However the ones I’ve tried I’m not very impressed with. Can anyone recommend a soap that lathers, isn’t drying and is made in the UK? I’m missing my lovely bubbly shower gel but trying to buy less plastic!

Scottish fine soaps are lovely.

Strongbeatsskinny · 08/03/2019 22:14

Heyland and Whittle is another one..

The Shea butter soap from L'Occitane is great for my difficult skin. Sorry, not made in UK but it is cleansing yet gentle and moisturising. Feels and smells nice too.

Marseille soap. Not from the UK but only across the pond. Every scent you can think of, made of natural ingredients and no palm oil. Cheap on eBay.

gingerandsmall · 08/03/2019 23:09

I really like the soap bars from PlasticFreeZone on Etsy. Small business based in the UK

MuddledUpAgain · 08/03/2019 23:54

Yorkshire soap company has a fantastic range and are amazing quality.

LittleCandle · 08/03/2019 23:59

We use Pears soap. It is lovely, lathers but not too much and its as cheap as chips, too. Stocked in most supermarkets and chemists.

Amazed nobody had mentioned Nesti Dante yet, it's a big favourite on here and with good reason.

I use Simple soap. Never upsets my skin.

The Kew Gardens soaps are gorgeous. The most amazing scents, creamy and long-lasting. Great value for money, as although expensive to buy, they are huge and last ages. They actually work out cheaper than Dove, and are about 1,000 times better quality.

I love Asquith and Somerset soap and it regularly turns up in TKMaxx. Otherwise Marseille as a PP said.

frugalkitty · 09/03/2019 14:36

I like the Dr Organic soaps from Holland and Barrett.

AuntieOxident · 09/03/2019 14:43

Neste Danti is lovely but Not Cheap.
But is is very kind to skin, not at all drying and smells divine. The bars are big and last for ages too.

AuntieOxident · 09/03/2019 14:51

Sorry, correct name is Nesti Dante ☺️.

snozzlemaid · 09/03/2019 15:05

I agree with Pears and Nesti Dante. They both lather well.
I've got a Kew Gardens one atm and it's lovely. It's huge, smells lovely and lathers really well.

whataboutbob · 09/03/2019 16:41

If you are at all crafty you can make you own soap. I do all mine and have hit on the perfect recipe that lathers well, is hard and also moisturising ( it’s about the right blend of different oils, I use coconut, olive oil and Shea). I took a course with makesoap biz and have not looked back. Never buy soap now. And I know I am not using palm oil.

My family use this company, virtually rid of all other shampoo bottles and shower gels now....really impressed with them. Had tried a few other brands, but these are by far the best so far.

polloppllo · 09/03/2019 21:47

Plastic free, made in the UK. Smell gorge!

Definitely look at nesti Dante - you can get 6 for about £17, which sounds like a lot but the bars last for ages. Scents are lovely, and the lather is rich and not drying.

furryelephant · 09/03/2019 22:00

I use solid shampoo, I use Beauty Kubes. Been using them for months now and really like them!

Whyisitsodifficult · 09/03/2019 22:02

Lots of love for Nesti Dante doesn’t sound like a UK Company though?
