My gran has and she wears those kinda shoes Hmm second colleague said nah she's got her Northern shoes on !!!

I can't imagine what workplace they are appropriate footwear for.

Really.

I feel so sorry for you. I can’t even think of anyone who can help you. You’re life must be really difficult. 😕

RiverTam · 28/02/2019 12:21

they'd be fine where I work.

PuppyMonkey · 28/02/2019 12:27

Too soon for any type of sandals OP, but I reckon the colleague was having a definite laugh at northerners “not being very fashionable” fwiw. Ha ha ha.

MrsGaryLightbody · 28/02/2019 12:52

Wow @MoltonSilver
Did you mean to be so rude ?

OP posts:
MrsGaryLightbody · 28/02/2019 12:55

I know they are ugly! I've already said so.
I was more concerned with a colleague remarking.
I can actually think of many places they are suitable. I have two jobs one definitely would not be right for these things of great beauty!

@RebuildingMyLife Absolutely love the amount of northern love going on in your post. A big thank you from Up Here :-)

BlueMerchant · 28/02/2019 13:28

I live in the North. I'll be in my boots till April/May. I did see a few on the school run in flip-flops thoughHmm

userxx · 28/02/2019 13:33

@BlueMerchant I wore my flipflops on Tuesday...…. whilst sitting in the beer garden enjoying a wine with the sun on my back.

Coffeepot72 · 28/02/2019 13:38

Erm, they're "walking sandals", fine if you need to do some er, walking, but that's about it. Sorry.

Coffeepot72 · 28/02/2019 13:40

PS - I'm in the Midlands, if that helps :)

BlueMerchant · 28/02/2019 13:48

userxx- really??. There is no place for them things- even in the saharaShock

wendywoopywoo222 · 28/02/2019 13:50

I wear these all summer. Am right on the south coast and everyone laughs at me. I don't care cause they are comfortable.

notacooldad · 28/02/2019 13:54

Ha ha!!
They are really appropriate for my job most of the year!

Quintella · 28/02/2019 13:58

Maybe they're rural Northern rather than urban Northern. Urban Northern sandals would be glitzier and ritzier. And have a vertiginous heel. Obvs.

userxx · 28/02/2019 14:00

@BlueMerchant I was so excited to dust them off and skip down the road, flip flopping as I went ;-)

Quintella · 28/02/2019 14:02

I am from up there and reluctantly live in the south. I'm yet to meet anyone who can hold a candle looks or personality wise to the many lovely northerners I know and am related to.

Lolz. I can’t imagine what’s preventing you making friends in the South with that kind of attitude! Grin

dudsville · 28/02/2019 20:09

When can women's clothing be comfortable without betting criticised?

SkinnyPete · 28/02/2019 20:29

I ain't wearing anything unless it's made in Northampton 😁

XingMing · 28/02/2019 21:09

@SkinnyPete, does most of your body go naked? Northampton is famous for shoes... the rest of you?!

nancy75 · 28/02/2019 21:14

I’ll admit I’m a Londoner with sod all knowledge of the North but in my head Northern sandals have a least a 6 inch heel & probably some sparkles. They are English heritage/National trust sandals
