Are these boots a big no-no...

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 12:47

for a thirty-one year old?

If so, has anyone got a heads-up on what-we-will-be-wearing this winter? The Vogue website is not forthcoming, and I'm impatient.

Bump

They're a no-no for anyone because they are fugly.

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 13:04

Well, obviously I don't think so, but I do think they might be for the teens only. (They're a bit Ugg-ish).

I want nice flat boots with grippy soles for this winter.

Any ideas?

hmmmm well i would say it depends on how you dress, if you are normally quite conservative then a deffo no no. But if you like to be a bit outrageous they could look okay with the right clothes. Wouldn't say i like them though

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 13:07

I think I'm in age-denial. I'm not very good at wearing grown-up shoes.

So I need boots that are youthful but not mutton-dressed-as-lamb-ish.

Agree with quad, depends on how you dress.
Not my cup of tea though. But I am an ancient 36 yr old.

dressedupnowheretogo · 06/07/2007 13:09

i like them when they are nnot rolled down would look fab with leggings or skinny jeans and a slouchy fine knit jumper with t shirt underneath

but im 25

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 13:09

I would stick with Uggs then, the shape of these boots just doesn't seem quite right to me.

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 13:10

they are much nice not rolled down.

Hathor · 06/07/2007 13:11

ugh

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 13:13

I like them un-rolled too - and in brown, not that horrible beige colour.

Do you think there's a big difference between what you can wear at 25 and what you can wear at 31?

I'm a new Mum, and I want to change my style a bit.

I don't want to be like Liza Minelli and decide that black polo-necks suit me at 30, and wear them 'til I die.

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 13:14

Maybe it's time for those proper leather boots.

OP posts:
dressedupnowheretogo · 06/07/2007 13:15

no i dont think diff between 31 and 25 i was just letting you know i wasnt 18 or anything

i bought some fab leather ones from clarks last sale only 20 from 98

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 13:16

No Boobedoobedo, I think you have to be careful, but I'm 28 and will not be adapting my style once i reach thirty. The key is to wear clothes that you feel yourself in, if you feel confident then you will look nicer!

MrsBadger · 06/07/2007 13:49

Try Camper for youthful practical boots that are a bit more, well, subtle. Clarks do some good Camper-esque ones too.

Booboobedoo · 06/07/2007 14:02

I've looked at those boots again, and I've decided they're hideous now too.

I'm very tired, in my defence.

Thanks for all your opinions. I'm off to look at the Clarks website.

DrNortherner · 06/07/2007 14:03

Noooooo not Clarks - you're 31 not 91!!!

Those boots are OK I think, partic when not rolled down like in main picture.

DO NOT BUY SHOES FROM CLARKS.

I like plain leather boots myself but I can't get my head around the idea of wearing knee-high boots over jeans (unless you happen to be riding a horse at the time). Isn't that what ankle boots are for? .

That's my problem with the knee-high boot. I'm not mad on the over-jeans look (although it keeps your hem dry), and they make my calves hot under the jeans.

Lol at Northerner's violent aversion to Clarks. In their defence, they have got a leetle more stylish of late.

And I greatly appreciated being called a baby .
