As in, what do you wear under the shoe? Do you go barefoot? If so, how do you stop the shoe smelling?

I wear Van's, converse or sometimes Nike Air.
I've not got a problem with them smelling!

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 10:22

I mean like dolly shoes or loafers etc

I wear shoe liners made of tights material sometimes. Or just go without. Shoe sprayer help or put baking soda in the shoes when you take them off, leave overnight and shake it in the morning

drspouse · 19/02/2019 11:04

I wear Mary Janes and I only ever wear them with skirts and tights.
I wear laceups with trousers, and wear socks with them.

2dogsandPG · 19/02/2019 11:13

Footsie socks, sometimes called shoe liners. No smelly feet this way 🙂

Disclaimer: definitely not my legs! 😂

CountessVonBoobs · 19/02/2019 11:15

Footsies if my ankle is going to be on show, or sheer knee highs if it's cold. Socks if I'm wearing ankle boots with trousers that touch them.

SteelRiver · 19/02/2019 11:20

I just used to go barefoot under my ballet flats. I had a shoe spray and several different pairs to alternate. Never had a problem with smelly shoes.

RiverTam · 19/02/2019 11:21

what's a dolly shoe?

I have footsies from H&M that I wear with trainers when I don't want socks on show.

AnnieOH1 · 19/02/2019 11:25

Those who don't wear anything - how do you not end up with blisters?!

drspouse · 19/02/2019 11:35

what's a dolly shoe?
In my area, it's what small girls call ballet pumps.

StellaRockafella · 19/02/2019 12:04

As a hater of tights and stockings, I wear pretty much all footwear with bare feet. I have never had any problem with my shoes smelling! Converse and trainers aside, I only buy shoes made from leather and if for whatever reason the lining isn't leather, I buy them a little larger and use a leather insole.

As for blisters, none as yet. I guess I'm lucky Smile

MeadowHay · 19/02/2019 12:29

On mat leave atm but I use to wear brogues before the dress code changed to a dress-down one - would either just wear dark socks, pop socks, or tights with them. Would be wearing a trouser or skirt suit, or a smart dress with them. I have bought myself a pair of loafers and worn them to two job interviews and went barefoot to both of them however they have rubbed the back of my heels when I did this, but are fine if I wear normal socks with them, but I think doing that a bit is helping to stretch them out so hopefully they won't rub soon.

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 13:13

Dolly shoes I guess is a colloquialisms for ballet pumps round here (Dolls for short).
I'm wearing jeans with a pair at the moment and I can feel my feet getting all hot. Will look at some shoe liners though! Are they actually hidden by the shoe?

IloveJudgeJudy · 19/02/2019 13:17

I would suggest you always wear some kind of sock/liner as barefoot makes shoes smell one. Talcum powder or athletes foot powder can also help

Lolly49 · 19/02/2019 13:22

AnnieOH1 Fit flop shoes like wearing your slippers bliss.

beanaseireann · 19/02/2019 13:44

Primark footsie socks have grippers on the soles that help the footsie sock stay on. Otherwise they can, very annoyingly, slip under your ankle which is very annoying.

thedevilinablackdress · 19/02/2019 18:47

In February? Tights. Woolly or 60d. Or socks if wearing trousers.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 19/02/2019 18:54

Agree with pp - Primark have brilliant super low cut footsy socks that have a rubber heel grip and don't show over your ballet flats.

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 20:44

Amazing thanks! I'll pop into Primark tomorrow.

@thedevilinablackdress it was 9 degrees here today! Practically shorts and flip flop weather up here Wink

I much prefer knee-highs to the ones that only go over the bottom part of your foot. Sometimes they peek over the top of your shoe. Knee-highs keep a smooth look, especially when your trousers ride up when you sit down

LagoDiComo · 20/02/2019 17:47

The footsies from H&M are great. I often put my big toes through socks (upturned toes from high heel wearing when younger) but not these and low in the vamp. And even a mark to tell you which way round to wear them

Biancadelrioisback · 21/02/2019 07:39

Right, I bought the Primark shoe liners and they are awful! Put them on 15 mins ago and walked down the stairs, put my shoes on and out to the car and they have already rolled down under my heel. I'm a size 3 and the sizing band is 3-5 so I think my feet are just too small! Argh!!

It’s worth trying a different type of liner OP. Not all suit me either and I’m a pretty average bog-standard size 6.5
