Wanting to get rid of my 'tash'

Hi
Recently I've noticed that I've started to get a bit of a mustache.
It's still visable when I wear foundation.
The hairs aren't thick, maybe because I've never messed with the hair before?
Anyway my question is would permanent hair removal be a good idea?
Id rather do this if it's suitable than wax or thread as I dont want to be messing about every month of I can avoid it.

I've had a tache since I was about 11 😫😫 I've tried waxing, bleach, removal cream. I was going to try electrolysis/laser treatment spoke with a beauty therapist who said that it would still grow back eventually and it was pricey!! So now I am threading and it's brilliant! Leaves it smooth and the growth is much slower than waxing, BUT it does sting like a b!

deadsexy · 17/02/2019 08:37

Oh place making I'm having nightmares with mine. Currently on tweezers but can't keep up!!

whatatangledweb · 17/02/2019 08:38

I believe laser hair removal works best on dark hairs so depends on the hair type as to whether this would be the best option for you. Electrolysis does slow the hair growth and eventually lessens it (I've found personally) but it can be painful! I've found electrolysis to be very effective though.

Thanks for the replies.
I 've got the number for a hair removal company and I'm going to speak to them on Monday I just don't want to be fobbed off!
The hairs aren't that dark but dark enough so that I can see them.
I think the thought of threading every month scares me so I'd rather go through the pain once if that makes sense and go down the permanent route if it works.

I just use veet sensitive wax strips. I can’t wax anywhere else, but this is easy

Lovethetimeyouhave · 17/02/2019 10:31

I use wax strips, I've been doing it since I was 16 and I'm 27 now... wish I'd just left it as it grows so dark now

mmmm25 · 17/02/2019 11:32

Shaving is actually effective for some women too, if it's fair hair and you maybe limit it to 1 x week; shouldn't be any issues with stubble.

emilybrontescorsett · 17/02/2019 13:30

It isn't thick or really dark but I'm noticing it.
Invisible electrolysis and laser treatment and they both sound painful.
I'll see what the company say when they ring back.

I bleach mine but have noticed its started getting darker now I'm mid 30's and have had a baby. It now needs bleaching once a week where before I could do once a month :(

DorothyZbornak · 17/02/2019 13:43

I get mine waxed about once a month. It's literally a couple of seconds of pain and that's it. If a few strays pop up, I just tweeze them.

My SIL bleaches her and thinks nobody notices. She still has a tash. It's just that it's yellowy orange now instead of dark.

Nyon · 17/02/2019 15:26

Another vote for waxing but make sure you exfoliate on a regular basis to avoid ingrown hairs.

BusterGonad · 17/02/2019 16:17

I agree, bleaching is not an option. Everyone will notice but no one will say anything. Bleaching makes it a yellow ginger colour and shows up in the sun!

BlameItOnBianca · 17/02/2019 16:25

I thread and find day 18 of my cycle the least painful day to do it been doing this for years perhaps it's time to invest in a more permanent solution. Following.

Howzaboutye · 17/02/2019 16:32

Lazer or IPL will get rid of the dark hairs yes.

Get it done on day 1-14 of your cycle as that's when the follicles are actively growing.

It doesn't hurt that much, like an elastic band pinging, at the worst. And you only need 4 or 5 zaps for your top lip.

Lidl had an IPL machine for sale a while ago, £70. I do mine every month. Of course it's not as strong as the salon ones, but it will work eventually.

freerangechocolateegg · 17/02/2019 17:08

Don't bother with one of those springy tweezer things, pulls out 1 in 10 hairs.

wellhonestly · 17/02/2019 17:13

messing about every month Grin ... if only it were once a month!

I have the opposite experience to a pp - I really rate the springy things (epistick) - I do my mouser and chin area once or twice a week, it's quite ouch-y just under the nose, but bearable. I do still need tweezers for one or two stubborn chin hairs, but it's all just part of my normal morning routine and a lot easier and quicker than waxing. Takes about a minute to do the springy thing and then another minute to hunt with the tweezers.

Good luck OP!

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/02/2019 17:16

Another vote here for the epistick! They are very cheap, so worth a try. And look at a YouTube video to make sure you are doing it right (I wasn’t).

They are fantastic if you do it right, I wasn't at first.

Summer23 · 17/02/2019 17:36

I get mine threaded but wondered if anyone with fair hair had tried anything more permanent?

ShabbyAbby · 17/02/2019 18:16

I bleach mine in winter
In summer the sun does it for me

moodyblues · 17/02/2019 18:21

I have previously had my moustache waxed and more recently had it threaded, but both times I get a really lovely moustache of spots!

It looks so dreadful that I would rather just have the hairs.

ShadowKitty · 17/02/2019 18:34

@moodyblues I get the same if I use proper waxy strips - I swapped to the boots ones that are more like sellotape than wax and they do the job without the spots. Not sure if they still do them as I bought a box ages ago and it's lasted me forever as I just cut off little strips. Worth a try? Sorry to go on a tangent OP - hope you figure out a permanent solution.

moodyblues · 17/02/2019 18:41

ShadowKitty thanks for the tip, I’ll keep my eye out for them.

Agreed, they rip loads of ,my buggers out lol, but it does take a certain knack.

mizu · 17/02/2019 19:16

I use Nair facial cream to remove every few weeks.

Had a bit of electrolysis about 20 years ago and def don't have as much as I used to.
