What to wear in Disney World if you have thunder thighs?

SippingSipsmith · 12/02/2019 18:28

I’m going to Disney and it’s going to be hot and I have thunder thighs!

I bought some Hush denim shorts but they don’t look right (and are slightly tight on legs and loose if anything on waist) as they cut me in the widest part of my body. Though I may keep as they are alright!

I just don’t know what to wear for 2 weeks when it’s going to be 29 degrees. I can’t wear Stan smiths and sun dresses the whole time as don’t have enough dresses that go with trainers and will have severe thigh chaffage!!

Any ideas? Different shorts?!

Harem pants might work but the last pair I tried made me look like a pirate.

Please help and send links or I may consider lipo!!!

I find even denim shorts to be too heavy in Florida. I favour loose cotton pull on ones. Don't worry if you think you look frumpy or large. Many of the people there are massive and no one cares what they look like.

Parkrunner25 · 12/02/2019 18:36

Look up "bodyglide" on Amazon. It's something runners use to prevent chafing, it really does work.

Yes to loose fabric shorts or skorts. Honestly you will look miniscule compared to people there and no-one cares!

Cotton cycling shorts under a nice summer dress work well

DonPablo · 12/02/2019 18:38

Get some of the snag chub run shorts for under dresses?

SippingSipsmith · 12/02/2019 18:38

Thanks Apollo. I can try but nervous they'll showcase another part of my body that I obviously love - my c section pouch!

I'm a 12 on top and a 14 on bottom so hoping I'll look tiny stateside!

Thanks parkrunner25 as I'll definitely need these under dresses so I've read

I like Linen shorts, or cotton ones. Occasionally I see the holy grail of shorts on other people (long enough to avoid thigh chaffing, but not down to my knees, thin material, with pockets), but I have never found them in the shops.

With dresses I bought some sloggi style underwear from Wish (the kind that goes down to your thighs). I ended up ordering 3 as they were comfy and thin, and nicer than the actual sloggi ones.

Also, buy Sketcher go walks - your feet will thank you.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/02/2019 18:42

Avoid thick denim- you’ll get soaked on water rides and the rain, and the denim isn’t a nightmare when it’s wet

Shorts and t shirt- loose cotton or light fabric (not denim) shorts.
No one will notice what you’re wearing- comfort is key.

Stinkytoe · 12/02/2019 18:44

Enrage the fact that it’s WDW where anything goes and just wear whatever makes you comfortable.

I never wear shorts in the UK but will do everyday in Disney.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/02/2019 18:45

I used "comfort shorts" from the big bloomer company under dresses when I went to Florida. Breathable and no chaffing at all.

I also wore some cotton shorts I bought in Wal-Mart for $5. Comfy, practicaland typical hot weather shorts (ie neither trendy nor hideous).

SippingSipsmith · 12/02/2019 18:45

I just want to look nice in family pics even if it doesn't matter Grin

The Boden chino shorts come in different lengths and quite flattering

SippingSipsmith · 12/02/2019 18:46

On Boden website now thanks! Annoyingly there's not as much choice this time of year as many shops don't yet have their summer stuff out

Cotton capri pants type bottoms. I love hareems but my son always says I look like I'm a clown as I'm not very tall!

Murphypoint · 12/02/2019 18:51

I wore a skirt a couple of times in the parks. I bought cotton cycling shorts from Primark for a couple of quid. No chaffing.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/02/2019 18:52

Oh and I agree with pp. Everyone is dressed for comfort. You do see the occasional person looking for stylish and put together but in my experience they stand out rather than blend in. They're long days in 30+ heat... comfort is key

TitilatedOcelot · 12/02/2019 19:02

I lived in one of these on my summer hols last year - decathlon's cotton hiking skort. Looks like a normal short skirt, but no chub rub or inadvertent flashing when bending over!

Dresses, cycling shorts underneath for modesty on rides. Don't forget a hat which can fold into a bag, an umbrella (it rains a lot), a lot of sunscreen as it's costs a lot more there, and a cardigan/fleece as it got surprisingly nippy at night. Or and comfy shoes eg Clark's sandals

TitilatedOcelot · 12/02/2019 19:08

Just noticed my decathlon skort is actually polyester, not cotton. It doesn't look synthetic or shiny though.

rosydreams · 12/02/2019 19:11

yeah theres lots of plus size people there i didnt care i wore a nice dress with trainers.I just wore comfy cotton shorts under my dresses to stop chaffing felt so comfy
