Dd is not fitting the teen bras at M&S , i am not sure what to buy her now. She is getting a few stretch marks and I am worried that might be partly to do with her bras not fitting well?
Anyway these are her measurements-
Under bust 24 and a half to 25 inches
Around bust bending forward 31 inches
Around chest/ribs above bust 29 inches
What size should I start at ?

Try 26D or 26DD

What is she wearing currently?

Comefromaway · 10/02/2019 14:18

I had that problem when dd was younger as I couldn’t find anything under a 28 band.

In the absence of a 26 band try 28D. John Lewis sell that size.

Spam88 · 10/02/2019 14:19

The boob or bust Facebook page is really helpful, and they'll be able to suggest brands/shops that will stock her size as well with it being such a small back size. I'm not sure whether the sizing recommendations differ for children so I'm not going to offer any advice on that, but just wanted to add that I find M&S bras dreadful for sizing. Literally none of them fit me.

dementedpixie · 10/02/2019 14:20

You won't find a 26 back bra. Maybe try 28D if you can find that. What size is she wearing?

Aridane · 10/02/2019 14:34

Stretch marks are to do with rapid growth, not a poor fit of bra

SirVixofVixHall · 10/02/2019 15:16

She is wearing a 30d marks and spencer Angel. The teen bras have smaller backs than the main range, but even so it is too big in the band, obviously. They don’t do a 28 back in larger cups in the teen range. I wondered if it was the bra as it slightly pulls her East/West and the stretch marks are one line, in exactly the same place on each breast. She hasn’t had any sudden growth spurts lately, but she has had stretch marks on her legs for a while, from her big growth spurt.
She is 14.

DD wears this one from the M&S teen range sports bra. It's nowhere near as structured as a normal sports bra. I got them initially as the shoulder straps are wider than the usual teen range which I know DD would find uncomfortable. They start in 28in band and go up to a DD cup.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/02/2019 16:43

I will order that mejon , thanks. Worth a try.

I have read in the past that growing teens should avoid wires, should I ignore that and look at adult bras too ?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 12/02/2019 14:45

I've had to get dd wired ones as I couldn't get her size in non wired

OlderThanAverageforMN · 12/02/2019 14:58

Both my DD's had these issues. Hormones also play a big part in stretch marks, as well as the changing shape.

When they grew out of M&S we found Debenhams Gorgeous very good. The fitters were really good too. They do 28D, and in nice, not too grown up styles. They are under-wired though. The advice seems to be that "trainer" bras are soft and supportive, but honestly, once you get to a D cup you need the wires for support, and you are well past the "trainer" stage by then.

OlderThanAverageforMN · 12/02/2019 15:03

I take that back..... Debenhams don't do that size any more. That's really annoying. They do 30 in some styles. Grrrrr.

ImBattlingOn · 12/02/2019 15:04

Some Polish brands do a 26 back I think?

ImBattlingOn · 12/02/2019 15:05

Look on eBay perhaps.

SirVixofVixHall · 12/02/2019 23:06

She would ideally have a 26 back, i am a 28 and she is a lot smaller than me. I only wear polish bras, but they are rather womanly in style for her, and also not easy to change when trying to work out the right size. I might try the plainest style from Comexim for her.

I ordered two styles from Bravissimo that arrived today, but neither fit . Sigh. I ordered the Freya Deco non-wired bra in a 28dd , this is odd as it gapes, and yet also seems as though it might be too small. The central gore doesn’t tack, but that is because it has no wires I assume. It gapes at the cup edges, I think the cups are the wrong shape perhaps. Only fits-ish on the very tightest hook, so roomy around the back.
The second bra is the Niya , a very thinly padded wired style, 28dd. This is too big around the back, and the cups are very far apart, which seems mad for a 28. So the wires are under her arms.
Not sure where to go next. She likes padding as apparently all the other girls wear padded bras.

dementedpixie · 14/02/2019 17:31

I tried dd in the deco too but it sat really strangely. I got the freya idol for hey that fir much better

www.figleaves.com/uk/freya-idol-underwired-moulded-balcony-bra/FRA-002492.html

SirVixofVixHall · 14/02/2019 17:43

I have never fitted Freya well, dd has my narrow ribs and basic shape, so maybe Freya won’t work on her either, but it is worth trying the idol, thanks for the link.
I have also ordered her the nude basic bra from Comexim as their 28 is smaller than a Freya 28, and the wires are close together. That will take a while to arrive though.

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 18/02/2019 20:41

So can anyone suggest any brands or styles that come up particuarly small in the band ? Comexim bra will take a while to arrive, and isn’t returnable so I hope it works for her.

Most bras fit differently. Bravissimo is a very different fit from M& S bras . Based on an M&S size I would go with a 28 back as they add 4 inches to an even under boob measurement and 5 to an odd one . Cup size though can be trial and error at that age . Whatever cup she's wearing now try that in the smaller back size first as if if you go down on the band you should go up in the cup to make up for it . So a 28 dd if possible . But if it's not then a 30 d should technically be the right size . It could be the shape of the bra that isn't right.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/02/2019 21:17

The M and S teen 28 is too big around her back. They don’t do an adult 28. There is no way she could wear an adult 30. There isn’t much difference in the soft cup teen bras in a 28 and a 30, both are too big on the tightest hook, but all she has at the moment. I was the same size as her and through my teenage years and twenties I had to chop bras up to get a back that even vaguely fitted. ( not even 30 backs then) .
The Freya and the Bravissimo models she tried were both too wide.
She is slender all over but has particularly narrow ribs.

dementedpixie · 18/02/2019 21:25

You could use a Rixie clip to make the band smaller if the cup is ok

SirVixofVixHall · 18/02/2019 22:21

I wondered about Rixie clips, but what tends to happen is that the spacing of the cups is also wrong, too wide apart. It isn’t just the band, it is the whole bra. So annoying.

OP posts:
GhettoFabulous · 19/02/2019 11:22

If the cups are too wide apart she needs a plunge style.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/02/2019 12:42

The one style I tried was low fronted, like a plunge, but the cups were much too far apart. I am loath to buy her a padded plunge as they are usually push up/in aren’t they ? Like the Bravissimo Satine ? I think that sort of bra is a bit vavavoom for her, She is only just 14. Also not always very comfortable to wear every day. She needs a simple rounded shape bra that fits. Must be plenty of other small teenagers, yet it seems impossible. We live rurally, which doesn’t help. I will take her into Bravissimo when we are next in a city, think I will call them this morning too.
