Dd is not fitting the teen bras at M&S , i am not sure what to buy her now. She is getting a few stretch marks and I am worried that might be partly to do with her bras not fitting well?
Anyway these are her measurements-
Under bust 24 and a half to 25 inches
Around bust bending forward 31 inches
Around chest/ribs above bust 29 inches
What size should I start at ?

Hi, I'm a 28E so a similar size to your DD! If you have a Bravissimo nearby I would take her there for a fitting, I've only started going there since late pregnancy so less than a year ago but I've been three times now and the process has been so much less stressful for me there! The fitters are amazing, really helpful and spend as long as you need with you til you have absolutely everything you needed. I wouldn't go anywhere else now! Downside is the cost, but it's worth it for me. I'm not sure if they go down to a 26 back though?

Brastop can be good for small back/large cup sizes, again not sure if they go down to a 26 though.

I am currently wearing the Niya and find it very comfy and it fits me really well so shame it's not working for DD, so I guess the other bras that I have from them might not suit your DD either if we're just different shapes. Have you thought about non-wired bras? I have a Cake bra which may be a maternity bra, not sure, I bought it from Bravissimo during a fitting when I was heavily pregnant, it's a size XS I think, it's stretchy and although I'm a significantly smaller cup size now than I was then, I still wear it! It's still supportive enough for me and it's really comfy. Also, Molke bras look really good and are very popular, I will probably buy one of them at some point too.

I am trying to find the other two bras names just in case they're any good for her, one is a Cleo by Panache black lacy one but I can't find it on their website, no padding, but might be a bit 'grown up' for her. The other is the Panache Porcelain Elan Balconette Bra, found it on the website. That one might be worth a try? Plain white with very light padding.

Thank you Meadow. I am going to try a Cleo but she is really tiny, (22” waist) so it seems 28s are not small enough generally. I suppose I might get lucky and find something that comes up particularly small. Bra makers have made these smaller label sizes, but then made the bands bigger, so in fact very narrow girls and women still have the same problems.

I will go and look at the Panache porcelain too.

Boux Avenue always come up small in the back. Not sure about the range for a young girl but should be a fair few in 28 D/DD.

Thinking out the box a light support shock absorber might come up small enough in thr back but not be too compressive for every day wear. They do exist in conservative colours too

SirVixofVixHall · 20/02/2019 11:28

I will go and look at Boux Avenue, I haven’t ever tried a bra from there.
I assumed a sports bra would be too squashing, so not great for growing breast tissue all day long, but maybe if she had one cupsize up it might be ok? I spoke to Bravissimo yesterday and they suggested a sports bra, but the colours in her size were not suitable to go under school shirts. (Also I was sceptical about the squashing element). I will have a look at light shock absorber bras.
She could fit little bralet things still, but she says that she wants more support as her breasts hurt when she runs etc. She also says all the other girls wear padded bras for school so that there is no show through, and she doesn’t want to be different. Also she doesn’t want boys looking at/commenting on her bust, so wants thick, plain bras. I went to an all girls school and so this wasn’t something I worried about, makes me sad that she worries about it, but I understand the support thing.

Looking at Boux Avenue this looks youthful enough, no good for school in this colour though ! They are out of her size in the white so I am still browsing. Will buy this floral and hopefully a plain pale colour. www.bouxavenue.com/balconette/chloe-lace-balconette-bra/101719_30GP.html

Ooh yes, Bouxe Avenue do tend to come up small in the back! I remember I bought a few from there a year or so ago when I was first fitted as a 28 back and they were tiny and uncomfortable for me, I could barely get in the back! So might be a good shout that. I used to wear a 30DD in Boux Avenue a few years ago, I was probably a 28 back then unknowingly as well but they do come up small.

SirVixofVixHall · 20/02/2019 16:47

I bought one, to try the size. It willbe here tomorrow.

Well the Boux Avenue bra arrived and it is small enough in the band just about. She is on the tightest hook but it is the best we have found. The cup isn’t perfect, slight gaping at the strap edge when she moves but I think a cup size down would be too narrow in the wires, so we are keeping this one.
Thanks to the pp who suggested Boux Avenue. We will go into their shop next time we are in the city. They don’t have a huge choice in a 28, most stop at a 30, probably because they are smaller than average.
