Black circles/hollows - anyone got a magic remedy?

kalefire · 19/01/2019 18:59

Has anyone got any GREAT recommendations for something to hide my black circles and hollows under my eyes??? I can apply concealer etc which hides the black/purple but you can still see the hollows.
The rest of my face looks pretty good if I do say so myself but honestly these hollows are getting me down and I have an "event" next week where I will be photographed and I really really want to look and feel fantastic!
Who has the magic solution?? Pleeeease?

I use Eucerin eye cream from Boots. It is hyaluron-filler + volume-lift and according to the box "restores lost volume and reduces the appearance of wrinkles". I find that it does work but that the effect isn't permanent. If you are interested, start using it morning and night (only under the eye, not above) a few days before the event.

Thank you, I'll see if I can pick some up tomorrow

Try a corrector rather than a concealer. I find a concealer doesn’t do it for me but a good corrector does. Bobbi Brown does one, Benefit Erase Paste is good too. They are both quite creamy. The Armani one is liquid in case you prefer that but also good. You’d have to go to a counter to be colour matched obviously.

I’m sure there might be cheaper alternatives but I haven’t tried a high street one that had wowed me and at least historically they didn’t really do them.

You may need to put concealer on top

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 19/01/2019 23:12

Following as noticed mine are awful today

MadeForThis · 19/01/2019 23:36

I have tried a yellow colour corrector. Heard a red works great with darker skin.

AliceRR · 19/01/2019 23:53

I think generally a pink or orange corrector is good for under eye circles as it helps correct green / blue tones

Yellow is good for redness or purple tones

I’m a golden medium skin tone and find an orange based corrector works well for me (although erase paste is quite peachy and also works well for me in number 3) but you can obviously get someone to try them out if you go to a counter

NameChanger22 · 20/01/2019 00:00

You don't need to buy a special corrector, just trying putting a bit of orangey pink lipstick under your eyes, then some concealer over the top, works a treat.

Also, if your eyes are hollowed, could it be that you are underweight?

BusterGonad · 20/01/2019 06:19

If they are sunken have you tried a highlighter over concealer? Like a YSL touché éclat style thing?

NotquitewhatImeant · 20/01/2019 10:13

I have this and I’ve tried the becca and Bobbi Brown correctors. Prefer the Bobbi Brown one but even then and with concealer on top, I still have dark circles and hollows. Plus, I find the products sit on the skin no matter what I do so I’ve sort of given up. Currently just use NARS radiant creamy conceraler under eye and then a good wash on a light eyeshadow over my eye lids as that seems to brighten everything up and distract from the circles. I’m really hoping someone has some magic answers here OP!

kalefire · 20/01/2019 13:23

I hope so too Notquite.

To a PP asking if I was underweight, no that's definitely not the case! Grin. I just think I'm a perfect candidate for tear trough fillers but the whole idea scares me so that's a no no

My dark circles are so dark they look purple.

I use fake tan too. Helps when the rest of my face has a glow.

NotTheQueen · 20/01/2019 18:33

I’m fed up with looking at my hollows, there’s only some make up you can apply before admitting defeat. I’m having tear trough fillers this Thursday (proper cosmetic surgeon, not a beauty therapist)

I’m crapping myself but I feel they age me

QueenofHarts · 20/01/2019 18:41

I was very lucky to have had the Liberty Advent Calendar. One of the contents is a cream that you apply with a small wand. It is miraculous on my dark circles and hallows. Truly! Look totally refreshed. It’s called Eye Lift or something similar. Currently laid up in bed but will check the correct name when I need go to the bathroom.

Mrstwiddle · 20/01/2019 18:50

NotTheQueen can you update how it goes?

Bellagio40 · 20/01/2019 19:00

I've got dark hollow sunken eyes caused by fat loss after Nd YAG laser treatment. I look older than my years because of there appearance. I'm too scared to do tear trough filler because knowing my luck I will end up going blind as a result . Wish I was brave enough to do it but no way. no,no,no,no,no!

Closetbeanmuncher · 20/01/2019 22:15

I think the eye cream mentioned is dermalogica stress positive eye lift....Haven't tried yet but it's on my wish list.

The ordinary caffeine serum is what I'm using at the moment, has given an improvement in darkness for me.

Hollows are a lot more tricky....Make up can help lessen the appearance, I recommended the following...

Layer over foundation on eye area, (ensuring eyes are well moisturised beforehand)

  1. A colour correcter. Urban decay do a great one in either yellow, peach, or deep peach (depending on skin tone) the yellow has a great brightening effect for me. Tap with ring finger or damp sponge to apply
  1. Shade appropriate Nars radiant creamy concealer, damp sponge to apply. Try to keep in on the inner corner close to the nose.
  1. Find the 'line' of the hollow, take a fine stiff smudge brush and trace along the line shadow with a highlighter. It sort of cancels out the shadow created by the indent (hope that makes sense?).
  1. Light dust of setting powder to prevent creasing.

Enjoy your event

redredvino · 20/01/2019 22:16
