Nude lipstick Cool Undertones

planespotting · 27/12/2018 17:40

Dear beauty experts

I am looking for a nude lipstick for my pale skin with blue undertones. Dark hair and thin dry lips here.

I would like something very subtle and my lips are not pale, so looking for a natural nude on the pink side but not bright pink.

I would like something that doesn't dry them out as they are so dry all the time and I don't mind paying a bit more than I usually do as this would be the only lipstick I will have now (getting rid of 20 lipsticks that will never suit me)

I have done so much googling but all the recommendations I found are based on skin colour, not undertones 😫

Thank you, please don't let me look like a zombie in 2019

Similar skin tone I used
Chanel lipstick silhouette which they sadly discontinued it was truly a perfect pink now use mademoiselle shade instead also like MAC Teddy Smile

I came on to say Chanel mademoiselle, it dosent last as long as others but does not dry out my sensitive lips. Also less pink Clinique chubby sticks in curviest caramel, they do an intense one with more coverage.

planespotting · 27/12/2018 21:22

Ohh thank you @Lucked I just bought the Mac Teddy recommended above and another shade but will keep those in mind too!!!!

Dior lip glow balm in berry is cooled toned natural looking pink. Wouldn't call it nude as it's definitely pink but it's not a baby or bright pink.

I like Mac lipsticks but they can be drying. Put a clear lip balm on underneath and then blot it slightly. Will keep it fresher for longer.

Haworthia · 27/12/2018 21:28

MAC patisserie. It’s a Lustre so a really balmy texture. One of the only lipsticks I ever manage to finish.

EnidButton · 27/12/2018 21:28

I tend to search for berry colours rather than nude colours as they seem to be very warm these days and often berry ones are what I'd call very natural.

Have you looked at Charlotte Tilbury? Pillow talk is MLBB holy grail - the website is pretty good as it shows the shades on different skin tones.

SmokeGetsInYourEye · 27/12/2018 22:11

I am cool toned so I need a warm toned lipstick to add warmth to my skin - something in plum or aubergine always have a look at rose shades too, to give sufficient warmth without yellowing your teeth. If you have amazingly white teeth - brick red will look amazing on you.

Have you looked at Charlotte Tilbury? Pillow talk is MLBB holy grail - yes I think I want this

Ok so I got 2 macs (small size) for £10 each to try them

They do free postage with orders and you get a free mini sample Grin

something in plum or aubergine
yes, this looks good on me I think. Problem is I am a biologist and not the kind of role people wear make up to do but after pregnancy I really need something to help me feel a bit less zombie Wink so I need something natural

I started with Mac Plumful and Mac Capricious when trying out proper colours for the first time. I also like Frog Prince by Lipstick Queen.

I think the CT pillow talk lipstick can look greige on some. Have a look at Clinique lip pops in bare or nude, they are quite long lasting and very moisturising and they both work well with the CT pillow talk lip pencil which you could use to fill your lips out a little without looking ridiculous.

IlonaRN · 29/12/2018 19:39

Clinique in violet berry is an amazing natural shade on me - I am cool-toned too.

Badadadum · 29/12/2018 20:27

Look for shades described as rose for a natural beige/peachy shade - although best to look at the shade of your lips and choose something a bit richer.

BubblesBuddy · 29/12/2018 20:33

Chanel “Boy” is the go to shade of Nude/pale pink. It’s fairly creamy in texture and I’m never without it. My DD also says it’s the perfect work shade.

motortroll · 29/12/2018 20:37

I was gonna say Clinique chubby stick but someone beat me to it!

rabbitfoodadvocate · 29/12/2018 20:44

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk seems to be a perfect nude for almost everyone!

rabbitfoodadvocate · 29/12/2018 20:45

Ahh great minds. Sorry, I didn't see anyone else had suggested it!

sammy891 · 29/12/2018 21:20

Pillowtalk doesn't work for me, like mentioned by someone else it pulls a bit greyish and unnatural. I use MAC for nudes, Velvet Teddy and Modesty are both very good.

holidaylady · 29/12/2018 21:20

Have a look on Pinterest for coral lipstick. I'm a similar skin tone to you and it's really the only colour I wear now. It doesn't make me look washed out. I think coral looks fabulous on everyone actually!

I started on a bourjois limited edition shine, and have moved onto MUA lippy. Not a big outlay but lovely colours

mimiasovitch · 29/12/2018 22:51

I am cool toned and pale with dark hair, and MAC Plumful is very natural on me, (though on my lighter haired daughter it's quite bold).

thefirstmrsdewinter · 29/12/2018 23:07

Mac Midimauve. I also have Hug Me which is a bit warmer.

planespotting · 30/12/2018 07:06

THANK YOU!!
Oh my! So many options
I will report back when my Macs arrive!

CT Pillow Talk was not a great nude for me. I am cool toned blonde, made me look like a corpse. I agree with poster upthread that the best MLBB shades can be berry shades rather than those labelled nude.
