Where to buy the thinnest long sleeved tops to wear under itchy jumper?

I need some long sleeve tops to wear under anything that makes me even slightly itch which seems to be most things.

I’ve tried cotton tops from sainsburys & h&m but they make me too hot when I then have a jumper on top.

Can anyone suggest a long sleeve top that is very thin so it provides a layer but wont make me boil?!

Primark are good for very thin fabric long sleeve tops.

They're so thin you can almost see through them but they do stop the itchiness

Poppysball · 16/12/2018 11:44

Thanks Wintermuter do you know which ones? I did look at Gap but there were so many to choose from.

I get mine from Primark. £2 they wash well and are just the right thickness for a base layer.

Madbengalmum · 16/12/2018 11:44

M and s do fine thermal one s, they are brilliant.

For cheap, thin, long sleeved tops to go under other layers I always get the ones from Primark. I know that's not a popular shop on here, but due to budget and mobility issues I know they'll fit without needing to try them on, as that's very hard for me. They're about £2-3 and stretchy and actually last quite well, despite frequent washing and tumble drying. I find them warm enough as layers and there's usually a few different styles. I've been wearing them for the past few winters.

Poppysball · 16/12/2018 11:47

Madbengalmum are the M&S ones very warm if they are thermal?

The Primark ones sound popular but are they thin? I think I’ve had some from there a long time ago and was too hot when I then put a jumper on too.

Lands' End Cotton/Modal long sleeve T shirts are very thin, much thinner than I wanted. and everything on their site is on half price till Wednesday.

Madbengalmum · 16/12/2018 11:53

Poppys, no they are a temperature regulated fine modal fabric and they feel lovely.

Seconding the m&s thermal ones.. the only time i overheated was in my classroom with 36 of my closest friends!!

HRTpatch · 16/12/2018 12:02

Uniqlo

Poppysball · 16/12/2018 12:04

I’ve given up on this search.

I either wear cotton jumpers or itchy cardigans over the top of a blouse or shirt.

I got too hot in 2 layers, and l don’t like the way the garment hangs with an underneath layer.

I reckon there’s a market for this item though!

JurassicGirl · 16/12/2018 12:12

My mum is really sensitive & swears by GAP Smile

Poppysball · 16/12/2018 12:12

TheEmoji i''m starting to fell the same way. I actually do not know what to wear to be warm but not too hot! I can't seem to wear any of the jumpers and cardigans in the shops. The minute they touch me skin I heat up and itch!

What is the answer? Is cotton the only material that won't do this to me? I'm sick of buying things, getting them home, feeling uncomfortable and them having to return. I just want to look nice, be warm but not boiling and not feel uncomfortable.

Have you tried silk with cashmere. Poetry do 15% cashmere with silk jumpers that are warm and non itchy. Failing that layer with down gilets/ jackets for warmth. Light thin down is very comfy and soft to wear. I often wear a short down jacket under my wool coat instead of a jumper. Over a Brora thermal top & vest that I’ve had for years.
Try Uniqlo for down items.

CottonSock · 16/12/2018 12:51

I have some fat face basics and they are really soft.

BikeRunSki · 16/12/2018 12:53

Primark, very thin, perfect as an anti itch layer.

Gap ones are too thick.

CottonSock · 16/12/2018 12:58

Which Primark ones are they? In undies section?

Ilikecurrybest · 16/12/2018 13:01

Agree with pp - the m and s thermals

Bigonesmallone3 · 16/12/2018 13:01

Primark, cheap and thin

thefirstmrsdewinter · 16/12/2018 13:07

A silk base layer is soft and very thin. Patra and Lands' End sell them. J Crew sell tissue weight t-shirts but they're not great quality and they twist after washing.
I just bought a merino jumper from Celtic (this one) and was really surprised at how soft and fluffy it is.
The annoying thing is that, as with uncomfortable shoes, they can seem fine and you have to wear them for a whole day before you know if they're itchy or not.

The primark ones are very thin.

You need the ones specifically for layering though rather than the long sleeve ones that are supposed to be worn as a standalone item
