Microblading eyebrows - some questions if you’ve had it done!

Can you choose how dark they go?

I’ve dark blonde hair and definitely don’t want black brows!

Do you have much input into the shape?

Are you glad you got it done?

Any words of advice?

Thanks

I've just had mine done!
I've wanted it done for years. The best thing I've done!! It's totally changed my face. I'm blonde and you can chose your colour, the therapist recommended a colour she thought would suit and went from there.
Just make sure you do your research. I've seen some bad work.

Thanks Heihei!

Would you be brave enough to post a picture? Brows, not face!

How painful, please?

SpornStar · 09/12/2018 21:29

I had mine done a few months ago. I’m brunette and had dark brown dye rather than black so there is definitely a choice of shades.

There was a consultation before to discuss what I wanted, shape etc. Then there was measuring and pencilling in to make sure they were symmetrical and that I was happy with the overall shape.

I so pleased I had it done. My natural brows are really sparse...almost non-existent really. It’s amazing to have brows all the time now and not just when i have make up on.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 10/12/2018 00:59

I’ve had mine done twice. Love them. Beware they also look dark to start with. They fade a lot as they heal.

Pain wise it doesn’t hurt at all.

GreyHare · 10/12/2018 10:41

I have had mine done a couple of times and need to go for a refresh, but if you have a good technician they will match ink to your natural colour, they will go very very dark whilst healing, you will be warned about this but on day 2 or 3 when they properly scab you will panic, you will think oh my god what have I done, they will then heal and flake and if you are like me they will disappear almost but then the reappear a few days later and by week 3 or 4 they have settled and are how they should be, I love mine, they have changed my life as one of my eyebrow fell out pretty much, so I wore my hair all over my face as I could draw one on to save my life.
I'll stick some pictures of my brows when they have just been done and a full on mugshot of them when fully healed.

Yes they match the colour to your hair/skin tone but they might be dark at first as they fade.

It doesn’t hurt but mine felt uncomfortable towards the end when she was rubbing the pigment in, like a bruise being rubbed.

Different brow techs have different ways of shaping, mine just drew dots along certain points of my brows but I know others draw a full outline of a brow first and you can decide how you want them.

I had mine done a couple of months ago. I wanted a natural look and spent two years looking until I found a permanent make-up artist whose work reflected what I wanted.
I am so happy with them. The consultation process was amazing, we picked a colour which is slightly paler than I would use if I was pencilling them in. This means I have a 'day' look and can then still darken them for a going out look. I tend not to wear make-up in the day.

It has transformed how I look. My brows had thinned out a lot over the years (i'm 43) and I looked so tired and washed out. Just having my brows done has made me look younger and healthier.

I was wary about having it done because I honestly am not a beauty parlour type (I am more Barbara Good than Margot Leadbetter) but it has been so worth the investment.

Ollivander84 · 10/12/2018 15:09

I had micropigmentation (so with a single needle like a tattoo machine type)
This is after the first appointment, I had a top up done a while later

Absolutely love all of these pictures! Makes me want it more.

I love the idea of asking for daytime brows! A good tip!

Ollivander I'm booked in at Manchester following your brows! They have their own following on Mumsnet Grin

Ollivander84 · 10/12/2018 22:04

@JoyceDivision with Olivia?! Eeek

Hellomatey001 · 10/12/2018 22:06

Could anyone recommend a good place for microblading?

I am loathe to randomly try these pop up brow bars so any recommendations?

GreyHare · 10/12/2018 22:53

Where are you Hellomatey001?

JoyceDivision · 11/12/2018 12:07

Oh no Ollivander, why the eeeek? Is this something you need to PM to warn me of? Shock

tissuesosoft · 11/12/2018 12:12

Your skin type also determines whether you have traditional microblading or another type like ombré. If you have oily skin you would be better off having the ombré style.

Ollivander84 · 11/12/2018 12:15

@JoyceDivision not at all, eek as in exciting!

Winlinbin · 11/12/2018 12:21

Here’s my before and after. She did a light golden brown for the first time and then topped it up with a slightly darker shade to add depth. I am delighted I did it. (practitioner is in Enfield if that’s any help to you).

FuckityDuck · 11/12/2018 12:27

Don't drink for at least 24 hours prior.

I've had mine done over the last 12 weeks. Each time I was out on works drinking do's the day or so before.

Because I had alcohol in my system I bled (didnt hurt) and it has pushed the pigment out.

So need to go back for a 3rd time. . Waiting now til January though for my 3rd session.

Also I sneezed with mine alot on 1 eye with the 1st 2-3 strokes. (strange person I am )

They did look fab though. All faded again now though :(

If you have a good consultant she will talk you through every aspect. Discuss shades, shapes etc. And also show you every stage prior to starting it.

My consultant was/is absolutely fab. Extremely professional and has worked really hard to perfect her skill ( almost like a craft skill)

You wont regret it - DON'T BE LIKE ME.. I'm a drunken knob

FuckityDuck · 11/12/2018 12:28

BTW my consultant is in Greater Manchester and would highly recommend her

Ilovedotcotton · 11/12/2018 12:30

@Ollivander84

@JoyceDivision
Is this with Olivia Naylor?

Ollivander84 · 11/12/2018 14:25

@Ilovedotcotton yes, I had mine done at her training place and she did the top up

katekat383 · 11/12/2018 14:40

heiheithechicken

Yours are good but your eye - !! - is beautiful so that may be the real reason!🙂

JoyceDivision · 11/12/2018 16:44

@Ollivander84 @Ilovedotcotton Training academy, otherwise about another year to wait.... Liked it being described as completely supervised throughout procedure so.... In my head it's going to transform me into a goddess
