Blossom4538 · 07/12/2018 12:07

Aaargh! Excited and nervous. I have very heavy, hooded eyelids which feel uncomfortable and make me look grumpy. I’m in my late 30s and this will be my first experience of botox! Also having a little on my crows feet.

Nervous and excited!

Anyone else had this?

Oh following with interest, when are you having it done OP?

OHolyNightOwl · 07/12/2018 12:11

No, but I would be very interested in seeing the before and after pics!
I also have hooded eyes, so asked about this when I had my frown lines (just between the eyebrows) botoxed.
They told me since I have no wrinkles on my forehead I should wait a few years and do that at the same time.

shecamefromgreece · 07/12/2018 22:26

Hmm I have Botox and while it does lift my eyes a little bit I can't imagine it would do great things.
Have you seen any examples of the persons work?

Uummokay · 07/12/2018 22:34

I have had this trearment since 25 (so young I know). I have a heavy frown so it helps lift my eyebrows.

The needles are placed under the eyebrows and inbetween the eyes. It's completely different from removing the frown lines of the forehead.

It works wonders and makes me feel 100% better. Nobody knows I have BOTOX and to others it isn't noticeable.

Your frown may drop a little after treatment but come 2 weeks it will be set.

I know there are various ways to complete this treatment so please don't hold me to the needle placements.

I hope you get the results you are after.

ViserionTheDragon · 07/12/2018 22:35

I second the before and after pics, OP - pretty please Grin. I'm mid-30s and the vertical lines near my eyebrows are starting to get me down Blush.

Hope it goes well, would love to hear how it went!

princesstiasmum · 07/12/2018 22:38

Just make sure the person is a prescriber too, also a prescriber, as botox is not allowed to be given by someone who is not
A doctor or dentist is the best person to do it,
Some nurses can give it, but also need to be prescribers too

shecamefromgreece · 07/12/2018 22:39

Uummokay thanks for that it does sound very different to what I have I didn't realise you could do that with Botox.
I have my frown line, forehead lines and crows feet done. Sounds a lot but it's very natural.

Uummokay · 07/12/2018 22:50

It's great for me as I have a terrible squint so it opens my face up and stops me looking overly moody Resting bitch face .

Also agree that you should check out who is administering it. I go to a Dr who has worked with BOTOX since the early days. Works for the NHS aswel as private.

It makes me shudder when I see people asking for recommendations of "cheap botox" or "cheap lip filler".The last place you want to get a discount or a cheaper than average rate is when it comes to adding one of the world's most deadly poisons in your face Hmm.

That's a whole other thread...

Blossom4538 · 07/12/2018 23:02

I’m a little nervous, will show results - apparently can take up to two weeks to fully develop. Having it done by an NHS Dr who does Botox in spare time!

Princesstismum that is incorrect, yes you need a prescriber to prescribe the Botox but the nurse administering does not have to be a prescriber, for example a doctor or advanced nurse practitioner prescribes the drug and a nurse administers, immunisations/ insulin etc. Botox is a POM, prescription only medicine, which can then be given by a registered nurse. Fillers however are currently 'medical devices' which do not need to be prescribed, that is why anyone can administer them, lots of regulation battles going on behind the scenes for patient safety reasons.
Anyway I've had Botox for my frown lines & crows feet and the doctor who did mine also put some units in at my brow arch to create a lift, I was worried about looking like an angry bird and explained this to him so the effect I got was very subtle but I notice, even if no one else does, which is exactly what I want.

princesstiasmum · 08/12/2018 13:20

Maybe i worded it wrongly, if the person administering the Botox isnt a prescriber then a nurse prescriber has to be be there
I know this now,as i had Botox in January, and the ex nurse /midwife wasnt a prescriber [and didnt have one with her] and bruised me badly, she has now been banned from giving Botox and ishaving proceedings taken against her, by the Nurses and midwifery council
I didnt know this when i went to her,and yes it can be given by a registered nurse, but in this it wasnt ,she wasnt registered to be a prescriber

Fashionista101 · 08/12/2018 15:51

I've been having Botox since I was 23 and honestly I'd be impressed if you get drastic results. I have some just under my eyebrows when topped up but I can't really see how it would un do a hooded eye. Obviously I could be completely wrong but have you seen an example of this been done?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 08/12/2018 15:55

I would also be asking for photographic evidence.
I've never seen hooded eyes lifted.

Truckingonandon · 08/12/2018 16:07

I too don't understand using Botox to address hooded lids. I have it for my 11s and it's a miracle worker but nothing short of upper eyelid surgery works for hooded eyes (well, eyelid tape does but that's only a temporary solution).

OHolyNightOwl · 08/12/2018 16:14

You do an eyebrow lift to fix a hooded eye. As I understand it inject botox in the muscle above the eyebrow. Loads of pics if you google that shows it.

Milly90 · 08/12/2018 16:16

I've had this done and the it takes a few sessions till you really see the results.

I love Botox though couldn't be without it now!

I hope you have not been over promised OP never heard of Botox being able to do that, it’s good but not that good.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 08/12/2018 16:18

I'll eat my hat if that's been achieved by botox.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 08/12/2018 16:21

Me too.

OHolyNightOwl · 08/12/2018 16:25

I don't know why it could not be botox?
On most people they would look permanently surprised, but when you have a hooded eye it just lifts the upper eyelid.

OHolyNightOwl · 08/12/2018 16:26

I hope the OP gets the wanted result and can show us on a "real" person. Would love to have it done!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 08/12/2018 16:32

If you go on the real self website the doctors will say no it can’t lift hooded eyes, you may get a very subtle lift with proper placement but only surgery can fix hooded eyes.

Blossom4538 · 08/12/2018 16:46

I don’t think drastic results just up to 3mm lift and freshens eyes, fingers crossed! xx

I had my first botox when I was 55. I don’t have any wrinkles on my forehead but my eyes were hooded and droopy. Botox lifts the lids and eyebrows giving wide open, alert looking eyes and a natural looking arch. I love it and get it done every 4 months. I accidentally left it 5 months last time and was shocked at how weary and plain I started to look.
