Dressing big boobs

WipsGlitter · 02/12/2018 19:14

Went out last night and thought I looked ok. Wearing this and black jeans.

Saw photos today and I look awful. My boobs (38dd) look massive in photos. I have a good, fitted bra on so they're not droopy just huge looking.

I'm determined to lose weight but do you have tips for dressing big boobs? Is fitted better??

I find tops which are fitted under your bust give a better shape, anything which drapes makes me look boxy. Have a look at styles in Pepperberry.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 02/12/2018 19:20

Did you tuck the top in or just leave it loose? I have massive boobs and if I let things drape I look terrible. I have a shirt in a similar shape and always tuck it in to just underline I'm not that width all the way down!

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 19:31

All M&S clothes are cut to 'hide' ie completely swamp supposed figure faults. Like trousers that come up to high to 'disguise' a tummy, long cardigans to supposedly deflect attention from a big bum. All of them have precisely the opposite effect IMHO. They make a person look like the back of a bus. In the case of that shirt, the voluminous sleeves are trying to disguise a substantial torso, and failing miserably. It's fucking hideous, it looks like something Debbie McGee would have worn in 1980. 38DD isn't even a very big bust.

The way fashion is going is to make the most of your curves, have a look at Boohoo, Nasty Girl and the like (not necessarily to buy, just to get a gist). I now only buy tights and food at M&S. Bravissimo have some nice tops and dresses. But FFS stay out of M&S.

This shirt is my holy grail of top tips for dressing big boobs. Pricey but does amazing things for anyone who has big boobs but still has a waist. It also skins over lumps and bumps and it so with a bit of a tummy too. It’s on the website in 4 colours at the moment and sometimes shows up in TKMaxx heavily discounted in old colours: www.theshirtcompany.com/abigail-white.html

WipsGlitter · 02/12/2018 19:36

Thanks @Rattinghat I really like the shirt so that's helpful! It's not hideous.

I couldn't tuck it in - too fat.

I agree it sort of drifts off the top of my boobs and hangs down.

I like that shirt @Needanewgilet will keep it in mind!

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 19:38

It's not flattering that's what I mean. It is shown on a skinny model and it doesn't even do anything for her.

Needanewgilet · 02/12/2018 19:38

I don’t think the M&S short is hideous at all. I think it’s quite classy. Sometimes a shirt in that sort of style works on me and sometimes it doesn’t - it must be down to small variations in cut and sleeves etc.

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 19:39

M&S have been getting away with this for years, making the nation into frumps. Sorry to question your taste, but it looking nice on the hanger is not the same as looking nice on.

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 19:47

I have 36F boobs. My favourite kind of tops are draped jersey, and I particularly like styles with some kind of asymmetry in the draping, as a pair of boobs can look like a big bulldozer sometimes, so the asymmetry breaks up the effect.

Cherries101 · 02/12/2018 19:49

It doesn’t matter how fat you think you are, tucking that shirt into a pair of high waisted jeans will always be the most flattering option.

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 20:12

Here is the kind of thing I am talking about. Sorry it's an expensive one but mine are from TK Maxx

WipsGlitter · 02/12/2018 20:31

I'll try tucking it in but I'm not optimistic. I like the Viv Westwood but have fat arms so like them covered.

Try the half-tuck espoused by tan from ‘queer eye’. Much more flattering.

I'll try the half tuck / french tuck but as a size 16 I'm not sure it will work!

Theses are great - I have the mustard and I’m a 30h

BitchyChuckle · 02/12/2018 20:46

Yy to the french tuck

UserMe18 · 02/12/2018 20:49

For me: flaunt it. If you hide big boobs you just look big, I'm a 32E so slim build with big chest, if I wear something baggy it drops from my chest giving the appearance my stomach comes out as much! If I wear a fitted t shirt (or anything fitted, I love a booby belted jump suit!) it clearly shows my silhouette, embrace them 😊 (took me years but I own it now!)

bonzo77 · 02/12/2018 20:51

I think you need to have a look at boob or bust on Facebook. Or get to bravissimo. I bet you are not a 38DD. At a size 16 you are probably 36 back. Or possibly smaller if you are sizing up to fit stuff over your boobs. M&S would fit me at a 34DD. bravissimo has me at 30F or 28FF. The right bra will give you a nice shape, with a narrower back and smaller waist. Then you can wear lower cut tops to break things up. You’ll look very different.

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 20:58

If you like your arms covered, go for a 3/4 sleeve without a cuff. Those long baggy ones with the big cuffs are swamping.

EvilEdna1 · 02/12/2018 21:03

As a 32GG...if I tuck shirts in, I look massive. Can't do high necklines either.

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 21:11

Summary - drape, stretch jersey, asymmetry, sheer panels, length that does not require tucking in but sits just on the hip bones.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 02/12/2018 22:41

I'm a huge-boobed size 16 and I'm only five foot so believe me, you can Trust me on the tuck. You have to break the drape up.
