Following on the success of the long running Royal Style & Gossip threads, I am starting a companion thread, for us to still chat about frocks and indulge in a bit of non spiteful gossip. In the spirit of the other naice threads, please keep this fluffy too.

Whoever said Liz H is our generation's Joan Collins is spot on! In fact they played mother and daughter in The Royals.

And all hail Dame Joan too - here she is earlier this year, 85 years young!

I don't know who Joan's surgeon is (don't quite buy her claim of just Nivea cream!) but he is fantastic as she's never looked overly done. She needs to give his number to most of Hollywood!

I am just a terrible sleeper. Always up for an hour or so in the middle of the night. Am in France, not Oz!

I hope I look half as good as Dame. Joan when I’m her age. I do believe her when she says she doesn’t put her face in the sun; but she does wear a lot of makeup and wigs. But I’m not denying she is fabulous!

Joan often does book signings at Selfridges so I must get down there next time. A friend saw her in the flesh at an event and said she wears a LOT of makeup but looks amazing and not excessively "done".

Ah Joan always looks fabulous, I don't care if she wears wigs and everything is clearly hoiked in with spanx, she's a proper star. I remember the Cinzano adverts with fondness, she was never afraid to laugh at herself. Jackie Collins was fabulous too. and I agree with the PP who said that Liz Hurley is Joan for our generation.

Thank you, Curly! I think genuinely stylish people don't go out looking like Worzel Gummidge, and even if you don't always like what they wear, they look good.

Melania is looking good at the summit. I love the sleeveless floral dress with green shoes. Very fresh. I like the style of Argentina's First Lady as well. They're all still wearing very high heels, though.

I think Melania wears some interesting shapes. Love Joan C’s ultimate glamour. For some reason I find Liz Hurley a little cheap looking, not sure why.

I was trying to think of other celebs buts it’s really hard to think of stylish ones who style themselves & look good in day wear as opposed to red carpet.

I like Rosie HW for that smart/casual look.

I like lots of Blake Livelys looks but again not so practical for me in the office & on the school run 😂

@cantfocus1 Reese Witherspoon gives great daywear. Her style is a bit preppy but she always looks groomed and perfectly accessorised.

Reese is not on my radar at all, will google but she’s probably too conservative for me. Just remembered I like Louise Rednapps style. I wear lots of trainers, loafers etc in the day & heels only for night or events. I’m naturally a more casual dresser & if I had to wear a suit for work I wouldn’t be able cope. Kate Middletons wardrobe is my idea of hell, obviously she has to be appropriate but it’s so aging & dull.

For some reason I find Liz Hurley a little cheap looking, not sure why.

Maybe it’s the boobs or the fillers?
I like some of her looks but the trademark ultra low cut dress is just not for me I have to say!

It’s all a bit footballers wives for me, she looks the type to wear a wedge trainer for sports or wedge flip flops at the beach.

I’m not sure which is worse - wedge trainers or wedge flip flops

I love liz. She always looks glam. That’s just her look. I also admire anyone who has a look and sticks to it even if I wouldn’t necessarily choose it for myself.

Someone like Gwen stefani for example. The platinum blonde and red lipstick look.

I also really don’t understand how - with all the tailoring expertise at her call - Victoria Beckham’s trousers are always too long. It looks silly and so dated.

Love Blake lively - I think she could look great in a paper bag.
