Recommendations wanted for a budget friendly foundation that actually lasts!!! I've tried bourjois healthy mix, all the Rimmel ones, I've tryed Revlon colourstay in normal/dry and no 7 stay perfect and the matte version. I can't find the one!!!! I see all these woman on socials looking amazing with foundation that appears to last all day and when I put mine on I'm lucky if I get a few hrs!!

Are you using a primer and a setting spray? That will make more difference than the type of foundation.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/11/2018 11:51

How oily is your skin?.

TheMagician · 24/11/2018 11:56

Well i found estee lauder double wear dragged on applucation to my dry skin. I find number 7 good on my dry skin. So on that basis i suggest EL double wear. I know it is not budget tho

LemonRedwood · 24/11/2018 11:59

W7 Matte made in heaven. With a primer, stays all day for me. I love W7, they're a fab budget brand.

sunshineandshowers21 · 24/11/2018 12:01

i use primark matte primer with rimmel match perfection foundation and maxfactor creme puff face powder set with poundland setting spray and my make up lasts all day. i apply at around 8am and it still looks freshly applied by the time i get home at around 6. i just blot throughout the day with blotting tissues to stop any oily patches.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 24/11/2018 12:08

I use Max Factor colour adapt. I mix it about half and half with my moisturiser as I prefer a less 'made up' look - I really just like to even out my skin and tone down my naturally rosy cheeks. It does last though - I put it on before I go to work and it is still fresh looking at the end of the day.

TantricTwist · 24/11/2018 13:43

you need to prime and apply your powder properly and if you have very oily skin then use a setting spray.

TantricTwist · 24/11/2018 13:46

You also need to cleanse first obvs which I'm sure you do. And by primer that can just be a light moisturiser or serum doesnt have to be a 'primer'.

PeevedOfPortishead · 24/11/2018 14:40

Body shop mattifying (?) clay. Seriously lasts!

MikeUniformMike · 24/11/2018 14:56

try cyo (boots) or Collection.

whymewhyme · 24/11/2018 20:56

I tryed EL double wear and I find it soooo cakey, I mix moisturiser with it but it's a faff getting the balance right!

The I never use primer or powder for everyday!!!

I'd ask the same as above-is there any chance you need a primer? I swear by Rimmel Wake me up and Match Perfection but without Clarins Beauty Flash Balm nothing goes on okay (sorry, I know you're looking for budget but have tried tons of budget primers and none do the job)

Corcra · 24/11/2018 21:21

With budget foundation I find L’Oréal true match good. But great if I use with Mac prolongwear concealer and Mac mineralise setting powder.

keepingbees · 25/11/2018 12:13

Primark do a long lasting foundation for £5 that's supposed to be a Doublewear dupe, but my local one is always sold out so I can't say if it works. I have oily skin and everything slides off. The Rimmel 24hr one is not too bad but you've probably tried that.

daftyburd · 25/11/2018 13:28

Yesterday I used for the first time The Ordinary High Adherence Primer. Think it was about £5/£6. My foundation went on over it lovely and it lasted all night. Kept looking at my skin in the mirror and feeling amazed how good my foundation looked. I was sweaty from dancing and it didn’t go patchy. It’s the best beauty but I’ve made.

TantricTwist · 25/11/2018 13:31

If you don't prime with even just a moisturiser then you are fighting a losing battle when it comes to any foundation.

KTD27 · 25/11/2018 13:38

Primark! Is brill

MissMarplesKnitting · 25/11/2018 13:40

The Ordinary foundations are good. Shade selection is excellent and they don't oxidise. Great value at £5 or so.

gobbin · 25/11/2018 13:41

With budget foundation I find L’Oréal true match good

I’ve just started to use this (very dry skin, was advised not to use EL Double Wear by the EL consultant in Boots, fair play).

It is lovely.

Julianaa · 25/11/2018 14:16

Natural Collection is a good foundation and extremely cheap.

Agree that primer will help it last - try The Ordinary.

Nivea shave balm (men's) also works quite effectively as primer.

whymewhyme · 25/11/2018 23:10

Thank you for all your messages, I'm going to try with a primer tomorrow, I have maybelline baby skin and no7 primer!

OP posts:
Beautifullymixed · 26/11/2018 00:29

I find maybelline babyskin awful for long lasting make up. It's so thick and oily, it's like smearing vaseline over your skin. Confused

It does make your skin ultra soft though, and blurs beautifully, but I don't understand why it's marketed as a long wearing primer for oily skin.

My foundation felt tacky and greasy - it never sets down at all. I had to blot with blotting sheets before applying powder, but still felt oily all day.

Not one of my favourites, but the price is great if it suits your skin.

whymewhyme · 26/11/2018 05:47

What primer and setting spray is best ??? There is so many!!

OP posts:
WrenDouglas · 26/11/2018 08:31

Another vote for The Ordinary here, the only problem is that it is all online so finding exactly the right shade was a bit of a pain.

daftyburd · 26/11/2018 08:53

Urban Decay all nighter is my favourite setting spray but I keep it for nights out. Revolution matte finish setting spray or the Nyx matte setting spray I use for normal days. Oh and The Ordinary High Adherence primer is £3 in the cyber Monday deals. Just bought a second back up one
