T shirts. Why are they crap?

I need plain v neck t shirts, preferably longer length. I can't find any that aren't total crap, really thin, odd shapes. Anyone any idea where I could find some?

I can be of no help as I am to looking for t-shirts also. I only have 3 so am quite desperate hot them. I don't want long ones tho just normal length as I am 5ft 3 with a shorter than average torso so fine long line are knee lengthy. The ones I have bought previously seem to go a bit twisted in the wash then when I iron them the seams don't line up.

Hullygully · 23/11/2018 10:13

Isn't it odd? Why are t shirts so hard?

Banana Republic’s Pima cotton t-shirts are excellent but now only online of course and also scaled back from a range of colours to just black and white

KeysHairbandNotepad · 23/11/2018 10:20

ASOS t-shirts are okay, I have the crew neck ones that come in a pack of two. I'm short and the length is good for wearing with jeans or tucking into a skirt.

GrannyHaddock · 23/11/2018 10:21

Lands' End T shirts are well made and keep in shape. The men's certainly have V neck. My daughter wears some men's stuff from there, jumpers and tops.

BackToBeingMe · 23/11/2018 10:24

Jumpers to I have zero at present as every where I look they are all glittery, full of stars or Christmas prints and I actually need some as I do feel thd cold. As you can probably tell I am not one for shopping.

BagelGoesWalking · 23/11/2018 10:27

Previous threads in the subject have recommended Gap T-shirts or M&S Supima - from what I can remember.

Hullygully · 23/11/2018 10:27

back, you sound very similar to me.

Nasty shopping.

Nasty t shirts and jumpers.

Thanks for the lands end tip, ill look at them.

I was going to say Lands End too. I know they're not considered remotely stylish, but for plain coloured basics, I find them unbeatable - the quality is excellent, they wash well and they don't twist.

Mercurial123 · 23/11/2018 10:37

I love Muji organic t shirts and COS are pretty good.

LunaTheCat · 23/11/2018 11:38

I like Toast but. sadly far too expensive -the shopping costs who where I live is $US 30. Most companies shipping from UK to here is 10 pounds.

Ollivander84 · 23/11/2018 12:48

I got some v neck ones from long tall sally that are washing and wearing well

NorthEndGal · 23/11/2018 12:51

Lands End, Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, or Banana Republic

jenthelibrarian · 23/11/2018 12:58

Uniqlo are excellent for plain t-shirts, wash well and have never had one from there that twists.
Long sleeves are long, body length good too.

spreadmarmznotmisery · 23/11/2018 12:59

Oasis are good

NotMeNoNo · 23/11/2018 13:07

The uniqlo compact cotton t shirts are good.

thenorthernluce · 23/11/2018 13:08

I have a few Primark men’s t-shirts (crew and v neck) that are 100% cotton, decent length sleeves and wash well. I am a 14 and buy a small, but they also do a slim/muscle fit which I would probably take a medium in, so if you’re smaller than me, that’s still an option. I bought out of sheer frustration at the lack of decent women’s basic t-shirts.

For the “posher” option, I’ve had success with Cos t-shirts, but I buy the interesting/patterned ones, whereas the Primark ones are plain and basic.

Interviewee1001 · 23/11/2018 13:41

I’ve had some really good ones from Long Tall Sally too. Don’t twist, decent weight fabric.

GrannyHaddock · 23/11/2018 15:01

A Gap t-shirt was the worst I ever bought. It was so thin, it only lasted a couple of wears and washes. It's not as though it was really cheap.

Potato2242 · 23/11/2018 15:55

Depends on your size but "Yours" are great

Jasquers · 23/11/2018 16:00

Oasis are good. Tend to keep their shape and last for years!

Hullygully · 23/11/2018 16:22

Thanks for suggestions, Ill have a look

Stay away from Whistles. They look good for the first couple of wears but shrink terribly. I am super anal careful about laundry, always wash T shirts as delicates, never tumble dry but all my Whistles Ts are now doll-sized Sad

LizzieSiddal · 01/12/2018 09:55

M&S are surprisingly good,

You just have to find them amongst the crap.
The ones I’ve bought are good quality, quite thick and have kept their shape when washed.

ShinyTooth · 01/12/2018 09:59

H and M are. Good. Boden is absolutely terrible.
