Is Clinique moisture surge worth it?

WorldParty · 21/11/2018 17:17

I usually use Nivea sensitive but I got a free sample pot of the above
It feels amazing and I am tempted to buy. It is much more than I would usually spend and I have read that expensive moisturiser isn't worth it
Is it worth splurging on?

It's worth every penny IMO! Makes my skin glow and so lovely and light. I won't use anything else now.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 21/11/2018 18:49

I think it is - I bought a 200ml pot in the airport (was very cheap - about the same as a 50ml pot) and I really like it.

Obviously it doesn't necessarily suit everyone, but I really rate it.

WorldParty · 21/11/2018 18:51

If I bought off eBay is it likely to be fake?
I almost wish I hadn't tried it. I am sensitive to lots of face creams but this one felt amazing

Does it have SPF?

RiskIt4Biscuit · 21/11/2018 19:04

It does not have SPF - which I am happy about.

We generally don't use enough product, including moisturiser, to get the SPF printed on the bottle.
I prefer having a separate SPF to use on top so I know I get the correct sun protection.

I also don't really like using moisturisers with SPF as night cream.

Elliss2018 · 21/11/2018 19:07

Yes I love it! Got a huge pot from duty free last time I went away Grin

ForSaleChesterDraws · 21/11/2018 19:10

I have been using the simple copy- water boost hydrating gel and find it just as good.

FennyBridges · 21/11/2018 19:13

Completely.

Cheeseandapple · 21/11/2018 19:21

Love it.

Ethel80 · 21/11/2018 19:26

I got a mini pot in a gift set and I love it. I'm desperate for my current moisturiser to finish so I can get some.

cheesefield · 21/11/2018 19:28

What is it like?

Curlypop · 21/11/2018 20:15

Yes! It's amazing as is the tinted version.

tobee · 21/11/2018 20:21

I love it but it goes very fast. I particularly liked it in summer. It feels like it might be quite heavy, gel like for a couple of minutes but absorbs really fast. Face feels great for at least the whole day. Smile

Fullfatlatte · 21/11/2018 20:26

I also love it, a pot will last you quite a while so worth it. A very good alternative though is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel. Boots have it half price at the moment (£6.49), it’s very similar just blue!

SundayGirls · 21/11/2018 23:15

I got a large pot from Duty free plus the eye cream and it's not bad... but I don't find it particularly moisturing or plumping?! It's like a gel. I probably prefer a proper cream for night time and lots of it. I am in my 40s though so maybe I do just need a cream for plumping rather than a gel, possibly it's too light for my needs!

It works ok for daytime under makeup. I am working my way through it but I probably wouldn't rush to buy it again once it runs out. I might buy it from Duty Free again. I preferred the Clarins Multi-Active, but it's a bit too expensive for all the time. (even though thinking about it I could just buy a few less magazines or whatever and afford that instead...)

SundayGirls · 21/11/2018 23:17

Hang on a minute, you usually use Nivea Sensitive? At the very least try L'Oreal or Olay. A cream in a pot. Nivea is such a thin lotion, probably only suitable for the youngest of skins (maybe yours is though).

GreyBird84 · 22/11/2018 00:57

I use the Lidl version (on a career break) and I absolutely love it & will be sticking with it.

Oly5 · 22/11/2018 09:16

I adore moisture surge, there’s a very good Xmas offer on at the mo as part of a gift set

MinesaPinot · 22/11/2018 09:34

Yes. I had a couple of small pots that I got in Gifts with Purchase so I took them on holiday. It felt really lovely and very moisturising, particularly after a day in the sun which is always my test of a good moisturiser. I'd certainly buy it when my existing moisturiser runs out (I use Garnier Ultralift BTW).

SundayGirls · 22/11/2018 09:44

Why am I the only person that isn't bowled over by it? I would LOVE to be! I have a ginormous pot of the stuff! It was in a set that cost massively hugely less than normal plus there was 20% off that day on the Duty Free prices so it was a real bargain!
It just feels like a cucumber-type gel to me, that quickly drys and leaves my skin feeling slightly moisturised (I guess) but otherwise I wouldn't know that I'd applied it after 5 minutes.

WehIstMir · 22/11/2018 10:23

I am with you, @SundayGirls. I only use it as a refreshing top-up (after a flight, after sun exposure, when I am tired or feel dehydrated) because it feels too insubstantial for my late 40s skin to replace a regular morning/night moisturising cream.

OP, if you like the jelly-like consistency of Clinique Moisture Surge but not its cost, you could try Garnier Skin Active 3 in 1 Hydrating Aloe Water Jelly, recommended by Sali Hughes and currently on offer at Boots for £6.49.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/11/2018 10:25

I’ve been using it for years.

I keep trying other things but always go back to it.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/11/2018 10:26

I use it under a creamy moisturiser though.

slug · 22/11/2018 11:48

Depends on your age and skin type I guess. Personally, my experience has been somewhere between "Meh" and "Yuck".

WorldParty · 22/11/2018 14:30

I don't have young skin
I can't use Olay. I started using Nivea because I developed sensitivity to most face creams.
