Thinking of getting Under eye fillers

So thinking of getting under eye fillers and I’m wondering if anyone has had them before, what do you think? Was it worth the money? Did you see a difference and how long did it last?

Some people have had them and happy with them,[i think there is a thread somewhere on here ]
My daughter had them a few weeks ago and they have gone lumpy under one eye especially, she has had her money refunded but wants them dissolved, and the dentist who did them says she needs to wait a bit, which is rubbish, as fillers can be dissolved within minutes
I would think about it if i were you first,or find someone with good recommendations

imaflutteringkite · 04/11/2018 11:20

A dentist did under eye fillers?

princesstiasmum · 04/11/2018 14:50

Some dentists train as a sideline, if you scroll through the threads here you will see lots of people had fillers etc, through dentists
Although i j=know anyone doing filles and botox etc, have to be prescribers as well
I had a bad experience last year with botox, and the woman said she was a prescriber, she wasntand i ended up with very bruised eyes and nose, she is now being investigated by the NMC[nursing and midwifery council] who they are supposed to be registered with for being a prescrber, she was a nurse originally,,she has now been banned from doing this
So, if anyone goes anywhere to have non cosmetic procedures always ask if they are registered to prescribe .as botox is always on prescription ,if they are not they should have another person with them

I've had tear trough fillers. They did make me look less tired and I would have them again^ if I had more money. Downsides are that they can be painful, can go lumpy (mine didn't though) and also are expensive. The other slightly weird side effect is that if your under-eye skin is very thin, the filler can be visible as slightly iridescent blue through the skin, which can make you look slightly frog like. This wasn't a big deal for me as I wear make-up every day, so concealer under my eyes was normal - I have very^ dark circles -but if you were someone who generally doesn't, applying concealer makes get feel like a faff.

IME other non-surgical treatments (Botox in grown lines / small amount of vermilion border filler) can make you look more rested for less money. How pronounced are your tear troughs?

Multiple formatting fails 🤦🏼‍♀️

OrdinaryGirl · 04/11/2018 15:02

*might feel like a faff. Not 'makes get'. Phone is on its way out. 🙄

badlydrawncat · 04/11/2018 20:28

I had tear trough fillers 3 years ago. I had 2 treatments because one didn't make much difference. It did work, I could tell the difference, but I didn't think it made enough difference to shell out the nearly £700 it cost every year our so. On the plus side I had no issues with lumpiness and I didn't find it too painful either.

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2018 20:37

I understand tear trough fillers are the easiest to get wrong as they are so tricky and need to be done by someone properly trained. Make sure you don't get it done by someone like a dentist or nurse, go for a qualified and experienced doctor, preferably a plastic surgeon.

Also dissolving them under the eye is also very tricky and needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Hannnnnnnxo · 05/11/2018 00:11

Just wanted to reiterate this.

OHolyNightOwl · 05/11/2018 02:02

Hang on, dentists ARE doctors. They have an MD in dentistry and know faces and nerves better than anyone else I would have thought? It's what they study, exclusively.
I'm sure I have read in multiple places it's the best place to have botox at least.

Unicyclethief · 05/11/2018 02:08

I wanted tear trough fillers until I read they can make you blind! I am still thinking about Botox though.

nearlytimeforthebigman · 05/11/2018 07:36

I am a very qualified aesthetic nurse prescriber, under eye filler is something I don't do because of the massive risks involved. I've had mine done 2 years ago and loved it and I'm booked in to have them done again this week. I go to a doctor for this, it is so specialist and so many things can go wrong....

Fleabag123 · 05/11/2018 07:39

Echoing PPs about making sure you go to someone well qualified. Anyone can inject fillers, and there is no regulation for something that can have serious consequences if done badly

QueenoftheNights · 05/11/2018 20:30

They don't last long I've heard - about 6 months -and you need a cosmetic dr to do them as they are risky being so near the eyes and veins.

Calamityjac · 05/11/2018 22:19

Thanks everyone. It’s an actual doctor (Dr Darren McKeown in Glasgow) who does my Botox and I’m going to him to get the undereye fillers. I am nervous but do feel I look tired and older because of my undereyes (and also my wrinkles which I’m getting botoxed again). I was kind of hoping the would last a while though x

@nearlytimeforthebigman fab, who did them please? X

CS12345 · 08/11/2018 01:17

It looks fab, honest it really does but it's 2 totally different lights, so it's hard to tell. If you're delighted with the results though, that's all that matters. Did it hurt?

nearlytimeforthebigman · 08/11/2018 05:19

Raj Acquilla in Manchester m, did so much researched and settled on him. Glad I did, had faith in him immediately.

nearlytimeforthebigman · 08/11/2018 05:20

Need to take another after pic in kitchen really, same lighting - will post later

Delatron · 08/11/2018 07:08

Looks amazing!

princesstiasmum · 08/11/2018 08:15

It looks really good,i have shown my daughter, who has got lumps under hers and look no better than before, shes waiting to have them dissolved,

user1981287 · 08/11/2018 08:18

Some of these prices are crazy. I haven't had them done but my DSis is booked in for next week £200 - Pre Christmas offer reduced from £250.

VintageFur · 08/11/2018 08:55

Why on earth shouldn't dentist's do them? They spend 5 years studying all aspects of the face... And when someone's face needs to be surgically reconstructed - the medics will call in a dental specialist.

I get my stuff done be a dentist and have full faith.

OP - I've heard very good things about Darren and isn't he in Tatler's list of "best surgeons"? I'm quite local to you and have consider him.

Delatron · 08/11/2018 11:15

I would actually not want to do a cheap offer for something like this. It’s tricky surgery and I’d want an expert. Some doctors refuse to do this as it’s so hard to get right. I think £200 is too cheap and that would worry me.
