After going to a v posh Michelin star restaurant for my birthday this week, I have gone in to full on beauty wanker mode by dashing out to buy far too many Aesop products. I will have exfoliated myself to a skeleton at this rate and have even bought the post poo drops and animal wash just in case my elderly cats want a pampering... they definitely won't.
I need to be stopped.I am a proper twat.

I am a big fan of Omorovicza I love the Queen of Hungary facial mist, I am sure a spray of Evian would do the job but I smile about the queen of Hungary as I spritz in the morning. I rarely pay full price if you sign up they send good offers and lots of free samples. I only use the mist.

Yes. That’s the one I’m talking about Always Cheerful. I don’t see what’s good at all about it. Is it just a product for people with cash to splash?

Tartyflette · 03/11/2018 16:17

DS bought me an Aesop set for Christmas a couple of years ago - handwash and handcream. I had no idea it was, well, so wanky.
He works near the Marylebone place.
The handwash was, um, OK... (it lasted for ages tho)
The handcream is a bit lightweight for me. I still have quite a bit left.

Guerlain lipstick and Tom Ford Black Orchid. The Black Orchid smells gorgeous, but is horrendous price and doesn't last 5 minutes!

From Omorovicza I regularly use Queen of Hungary mist, their neck cream and elemental emulsion.

@hmmwhatatodo Queen of Hungary mist is just a toner really but I have rosacea and it's one of the few toners that doesn't make my skin flare up.

Elemental Emulsion which is sold out in most places at the moment is instead of serum, again, because I've never found a serum that doesn't inflame my skin.

The neck cream is just pure indulgence on my part. It's lovely.

PurpleNailVarnish · 03/11/2018 16:33

That lipstick is a thing of beauty @HildaZelda.
I'd be tempted by that too.

Alwayscheerful · 03/11/2018 17:10

Tarty.
The hand cream in the tube seems to be the same as the hand cream in the 500ml pump dispenser - I agree it is very light but it does smell beautiful great for using after washing your hands not really suitable for really dry hands, body shop hemp is much better or Crabtree and Evelyn's Gardeners hand cream they are very rich and heavy duty hand creams.

HildaZelda · 03/11/2018 17:12

@PurpleNailVarnish, I think the holder was about £15 and the lipstick around £25, so not too bad. I wear red lipstick a lot so decided to go with this one.

It's REALLY heavy though. The weigh of it in my bag is unbelievable!

The perfume was around £115 I think, which really is a silly price for something that just doesn't last. I love it, but when that bottle is gone I don't think I'll repurchase.

SapphireSeptember · 03/11/2018 20:43

Does buying ten MAC lipsticks in one go count? That was eye wateringly expensive for me (£165) but so worth it. Grin And as a result of all the lovely Beautycard points I got I managed to get an Urban Decay lipstick for 50p!

Vivino · 04/11/2018 10:55

Black Orchid lasts ages on me! That's such a shame it doesn't for you @HildaZelda, it is expensive but lovely. Actually I have a feeling I'm about to make another excessive perfume purchase as I need something more daytime-appropriate - maybe not Tom Ford as every time I go to the counter I just spend ages smelling the Tuscan Leather.

My workplace also has the resurrection handwash and hand cream 😊😊 I wash my hands more than is necessary...

Alwayscheerful · 04/11/2018 13:41

Back to the Dior polish remover.

I was so excited earlier. Found myself near a Space NK store so went in to have a sniff and tbh buy Poo drops for DH stocking ..... only they don’t do Aesop !

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2018 13:41

Thanks to HundredMiles I had a look at the Haeckels site, and now have some Eye Bright stuff winging its way to me. Grin I was going to try the moisturiser, but it has rosa cana oil in it which can make me come out in blotches.

I buy quite a bit of Neal's Yard which is reasonably wanky, it's the blue bottles that draw me in and the delicious smell of the Frankincense Intense range, plus the fact that I'm not allergic to anything from there (so far). I've also tried Aesop, the geranium oil is lovely on my body and I bought parsley oil for my face but it was too heavy for me, however it's doing great things for my feet which go a bit dry and itchy in the cold, dry weather.

amandadecabernet · 06/11/2018 14:15

Aesop deodorant will change your life. BeaLola I buy it at SNK, and they sell it online. Maybe it was just that one location?

MotherWol · 06/11/2018 16:08

I'm seriously debating the Aesop hand sanitizer, even though I know it's really no different to the stuff that costs you a quid. It's not like anyone's doing flatlays of the contents of my handbag so why do I feel so tempted? Also Weleda's Sea Buckthorn range smells exactly like Aesop's Rind Concentrate body balm, and is a fair bit cheaper.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/11/2018 18:02

I used to spend a fortune at the Guerlain & Clarins counters in Debenhams pre children. I got to know the girls behind the counters so well that they'd always give me some kind of freebie/ or samples when just passing by to say hello. Post children & limited bank balance the only things I replace now are my Guerlain Les Meteorites & Clarins Foaming Cleanser which last ages.

Though I am lusting after a full size This Works Dry Leg Oil.
I usually get the teeny size/set in the post Christmas size & use it all over.
I'm saving up my Boots points.

Post Christmas sale not size!

goodnessgrace · 06/11/2018 19:38

My current splurging tends to go to perfumes.

I have Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad, Forbidden Games and Woman in Gold on the go at the mo. Kind of obsessed with them all
Also love Bond No9 New York Nights.

I spend WAY too much on perfume

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/11/2018 20:12

Also tried Creme De La Mere, and didnt rate it all, sadly, so a bit cautious about this stuff. But @LeafGreen what witchcraft is your hair tea? Did you think this up by yourself, or have you adapted some internet stuff? How easy is it to apply?

leafgrass · 07/11/2018 09:45
Grin

My 'hair tea' is the result of researching natural hair dyes on the internet, watching copious YouTube videos, reading Jackie magazines and annuals in my teens, listening to my mother and my own experimentation!

It is very easy to apply. I just pour my 'hair tea' over clean dry hair comb through and dry.

Some people mix dry powders like instant coffee powder and ground turmeric up with hair conditioner leave on for various amounts of time and rinse. The methods and results vary.

PeekaPeeka · 07/11/2018 09:59

I should know better than to click on S&B threads like this by now.

They always cost me loads of money. I really need some of those poo drops -and wanky hand wash (not a phrase I ever imagined myself saying )

RiskIt4Biscuit · 07/11/2018 10:14

The list is long, but I think my most pretentious beauty buy has to be the Guerlain Wulong Meteorites pressed powder. It was a limited edition of the Meteorites, but as a pressed powder in a refillable compact.
Normal price was around £110.

Runner-ups include:

Numerous Guerlain Meteorites (I collect them - which I guess is pretentious enough in itself).

Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks (they aren't even that good), and I hate applying lipstick when out and about so the fancy packaging is a bit pointless for me.

Tom Ford lipsticks, including a mini with my DH's name from the lips and boys collection (again, they aren't even that good).

Tom Ford Black Orchid perfume (I read somewhere that Tom Ford said that Black Orchid was intended to evoke a "man’s crotch", so maybe the pretentiousness has gone out the window with that).
It does last for ages on me - which I guess is unfortunate as DH absolutely hates it.

Aesop Parsley Seed Serum - it was nice, but I'm not buying it again for £49.

I also have a limited Guerlain perfume called Guerlinade, from 1998. Bought on sale as a teenager. I used it a few times, but didn't really love it, but also don't want to bin it.

Deathraystare · 09/11/2018 10:55

I have never been in an Aesop shop though there is one in Westfield but they have thoughtfully put three testers of the hand lotion stuff outside the shop so I always put some on my hands when I go past. Would be rude not to... Mind you all three seem to smell the same though they have different names.

MistyMeena · 09/11/2018 22:31

I traipsed all the way around Bluewater yesterday and couldn't find a shop that sold Aesop. I need to smell it!
