Extremely 'wet' foundation please for really quite dry skin

Hello all,
Recommendations valued for a slight to medium coverage foundation suitable for pretty dry skin. I'm in my early 40s and don't need a lot of coverage, but would like something that doesn't 'drag' when putting on dry skin. I'm trying to deal with the skin with moisturisers and oils, but will need a wetty foundation anyway. I loved a tinted foundation made for summertime that I bought two summers ago (writing rubbed off tube), but nowhere seems to make it anymore. I'm allergic to Olay and Garnier things, so none of that, ta!

Oh, and I'm Scottish so I'm right grippit. None of your southern luxury stuff over about £15 thanks GrinGrin

The Ordinary serum foundation is very runny, it tips off your hand if you move it!

Try Asos for it, it’s only £6. I have very dry and dehydrated skin and it’s given decent coverage without sticking to dry patches. I’m alternating between that and Bourjois Healthy Serum Foundation atm.

spanishwife · 22/10/2018 16:21

I don't think you want something 'wet' and liquidy, that will sink into the skin quicker and go drier. You want something with a bit of dewyness, more viscous that will stay a bit dewy and give your skin some bounce.

I would recommend any of the the Charlotte Tilbury ones, Nars Sheer Glow, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Rimmel Wake Me Up.

Or anything that mentions 'dewy', 'light reflecting', 'glow' etc.

I would also highly recommend a primer. I use 'the Ordinary' silicone one.

spanishwife · 22/10/2018 16:22

ahh just seen your comment on nothing expensive - ignore my comment!

Try Rimmel Wake Me Up and as PP recommended the Bourjois Healthy Glow.

I have The Ordinary Serum foundation and I find it drying so I wouldn't recommend that personally.

LemonBreeland · 22/10/2018 16:22

I would try a good primer on your skin before the foundation to help it go on better.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 22/10/2018 16:24

What you need is Future skin by Chantecaille, but it's about £65. Sorry about that. Best I've ever used, though. Gel texture and great for dry skin.

Have you tried adding an oil or moisturiser to an existing foundation to make it more 'wet'?

SilverHairedCat · 22/10/2018 16:25

Can you post a picture of the existing brand? Can we work out what it was or do you know it?

jenthelibrarian · 22/10/2018 16:42

If you find this holy grail let us know!
I have very dry skin and have tried all sorts. Atm I'm quite liking Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Superlight foundation, which they colour-match for you.
It is fairly runny and 'wet' and has an SPF of 15, gets mostly good reviews.
They have a fairly new product which is the called something like 'foundation drops' which you mix with moisturiser or primer of your choice which I quite fancy the idea of but haven't tried.
I'm older than you and live in fear of foundation settling into the lines, for some reason I always think of No 7 as a bit 'old' and staid but at least their stuff is mostly under £20.

L'Oréal infallible Pro Glow is lovely and dewy. It's only available online - it must be the Glow version as they do several formulations.

formerbabe · 22/10/2018 16:55

I like Bourjois city radiance foundation...I also prefer more liquidy foundations.

Powerless · 22/10/2018 17:01

Bourjois Serum Foundation (forgot the official name). Red lid. Absolutely fantastic stuff! Blends the best out of any foundation I've ever tried in my experience

PumpkinSpiceAmericanoNoSugar · 22/10/2018 17:05

Try No7 Foundation Drops. You mix it into your moisturiser or sunscreen, one drop for tinted moisturiser, two for light foundation and three for heavier coverage.

Pinkkahori · 22/10/2018 18:04

I second Pumpkins recommendation. The No.7 Foundation Drops are great.

princesstiasmum · 22/10/2018 22:40

Boots no 7 Instant Radiance ,its lovely and dewy looking

greatbighillofhope · 22/10/2018 23:15

I have dry skin generally but it’s super dry and flaky around my eyes, just where you need the most coverage.
I’ve used YSL touché eclat for ages but recently even this has started to ‘cling’ to the dry bits and makes it look so much worse. So I need a new recommendation too, I think I need something thicker rather than very runny, but with the thickness coming from oil iyswim.

Redact · 22/10/2018 23:22

Elizabeth Arden Prevage foundation leaves skin feeling moisturised and dewy. It worked for my skin which has dry patches. You can pick it up for around £25 online. As another grippit Scot I try and never buy it for full price haha

PersonaNonGarter · 22/10/2018 23:26

If you are prepared to go up to £20 the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is amazing.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 22/10/2018 23:28

I know your budget is low but hear me out
I highly recommend MAC Face & Body.

It’s very runny, very dewy and can be built up.

Also it comes in 50mls which I think is £24 but also 120mls which is £30 whereas most foundations are 30mls so it works out equivalent to £7.50.

Large bottle is only available at NAC standalone stores or online under the Pro section- I would really recommend you go in store and try

violetbunny · 23/10/2018 03:06

Bobbi Brown does a tinted Extra Moisturising Balm which is perfect for this. It's great for skin that needs lots of hydration, sheer natural coverage with a dewy finish.

IAmSproutycus · 23/10/2018 19:28

Wowsers! Thanks everyone. Will go look in the shop and report back! Many thanks again. Probs going to look at those drops first, or The Ordinary as I like their moisturiser, or the Pro Glow sounds appealing.

Double base, estee lauder. I’ve wasted so much money on foundation.
Then urban decay all nighter setting spray ( wish i’d known about this too before i’d tried soooo many setting sprays).

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/10/2018 19:56

Bourjois Healthy mix Serum is great.

You can also use a light oil under, The Ordinary Marula is quite dry, let it sink in and use the foundation on top.

Fstar · 23/10/2018 20:07

Tarte rainforest of the sea foundation

Isleepinahedgefund · 23/10/2018 23:04

Another vote for the ordinary serum foundation. My dry skin loves it. Lovely and wet!
