Facial oils?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a facial oil that doesn’t contain mineral oil (as those give me awful cystic acne). I’ve had a look at Caroline Hirons site but in all honesty it was confusing and not sure I can bear the idea of spending £70 when it might not work! TIA 😀

I have tried a few different brands but am using Pai Rosehip Oil at the moment. It’s made a massive difference to my skin now the weather is turning. I had dry, flaky patches that my make up would sit in but they’ve gone now.
The only thing I hate about it though is the smell! I mix a few drops in with moisturiser or serum though and then it doesn’t smell so bad.

I adore Clarins Blue Orchid & Lotus oils (used the Lotus one when I was in my later 20’s/early 30’s when my skin was more combination), Now I use Blue orchid a few times per week as my skin is dehydrated! A Clarins counter will give you a sample (which lasts quite a while!). I also follow Caroline & quite interested to try the Indeed Squalane oil soon but I absolutely love the smell of Clarins oil 😀

I've used a fair few facial oils at both high and low price points and I like this one:

very much. The smell isn't overpowering and it's cheap too. I'm quite particular about using mineral oil on my skin, and it does not appear to be on the ingredient list.

This is lovely but £46 (CH loved it!)

REN omega 3 oil serum is nice too (also a CH rec)

I've also used this which is good

Absolutely love Clarins oils but I’m trying The Ordinary Marula oil just now and while it lacks the amazing smell of Clarins the price and performance makes up for that. Also , I’ve not tried their oils but several other things from Garden of Wisdom via Victoria Health. They are fabulous and recommended by Wayne Goss who is definitely my guru along with the esteemed Caroline Hirons. Love their Vit C & Ferrulic acid.

I really like Superdrug balancing facial oil and it's only £2.99 for 30ml. It's the best I've tried

HRTpatch · 18/10/2018 09:38

I like Dermalogica phyto oil.
You can get samples from their counter

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/10/2018 18:30

I use Balance Me radiance oil. It's gorgeous.

flobella · 18/10/2018 18:35

I love Clarins Blue Orchid Oil but I can imagine that The Ordinary ones are also very effective.

professionalnomad · 18/10/2018 18:45

I love The Ordinary Rosehip Oil. I have very dry skin and a couple of persistent blemishes but the oil seemed to clear them right up

Scatteredthoughtss · 18/10/2018 18:49

I also love the ordinary rosehip oil.

3TresTrois · 18/10/2018 18:54

Love the Clarins oil and really rate Trilogy rosehip oil, but currently using this, which is cheaper and seems to have really cleared my hormonal spots up a treat:

Tru Facial Oil

absolutely in love with Virginic's oil virginic.com/collections/oils
I have the jojoba oil and that is good moisturizing the skin. you can even use it for split ends since it has multi purposes. I just ordered the argon oil cant wait for it to come!! my skins feels sooo much better and healthy!

TantricTwist · 19/10/2018 16:07

I am wearing Clarins Lotus oil right now actually as I have dehydrated skin at the moment. It's been my go to oil for years, and I love the smell. I've tried others but always go back to this. It lasts for ages as I only need 3 to 4 drops for my whole face.

I also really like Nuxe huge prodigieuse oil which has a gorgeous smell but I tend to use it more on holiday on my face and whole body.

I can't wear oils though for more than a couple of days a week otherwise my combination skin get congested.

I have the Organic Surge facial oil which after using makes my skin look amazing (I think so anyway!!)

But... if I use it more than a few times a week I always get a massive chin spot! I assume it doesn't contain mineral oil but not sure otherwise why it brings out those big buggers Confused

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 20/10/2018 08:29

Depends what you want it for. Rosehip for example is not very nourishing, so recommended for young or blemish prone skin, whereas richer oils (argan, macadamia, avocado) are for dry or mature.
As I saw on the skincare threads, someone said "once you hit 35, rosehip isn't going to do anything to make things better"
If you look at the ingredients in most of the high end oils, there's a little tiny bit of the "magic" (posh name) ingredient, and a hell of a lot of sweet almond or even sunflower.
I've used Liz Earle, L'Occitane Divine, Body Shop oils of life and non branded, cheap as chips organic argan etc .
The first two smell fab and psychologically make you think they're amazing. The BS is really good, repeat purchaser of that. The argan is the best for my type of skin. Smells rank mind.
I don't buy Ordinary stuff anymore after reading up on the guys personal ethics and how his employees have been shat on, and how you are led to believe you need 24 different products or your face will drop off. I do have some rosehip in the back of the cupboard but it's emperor's New clothes for my skin.

Yogatoga09 · 20/10/2018 10:36

I’ve tried loads of facial oils & the one I absolutely love is Body Shop Oils Of Life facial oil. I think it’s about £30, last for ages, smells amazing & does wonders for my skin. However I think you need to try different ones to see what suits you as everyone’s skin is different

Bloomcounty · 20/10/2018 11:34

How do you use facial oils? Do you use them instead of serum and moisturiser, or as well as, and where in the sequence are they best used? I like superdrug vitamin e moisturiser and I see they have an oil in the same range....

SuzeD29 · 20/10/2018 11:47

I use mine instead of a cleanser. Just massage it in and wipe off with a hot muslin cloth. Think most people will use it with moisturiser though but that never worked for me

Yogatoga09 · 20/10/2018 11:53

I use it after cleansing & before moisturiser morning & night but I have dry (& mature!) skin

Bloomcounty · 20/10/2018 11:59

My skin is fairly dry and mature too, Yoga so I'll try it that way. Thanks!

Floisme · 20/10/2018 12:03

I mostly use almond oil, which I buy from the grocery counter and use as both a cleanser and moisturiser (sensitive, aging skin). I don't really know what constitutes a 'facial oil' but I reckon if something is deemed safe to put in my mouth then it's probably ok to put on my face.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 20/10/2018 12:50

After moisturiser, or occasionally instead of.
