Are designer high heels any comfier?

Just wondering if designer high heels are ever worth the money and I might actually be able to last a night in them?
I love a pair of glam high heels with a dress on a night out, but am always desperate to take them off after about an hour. Is it true that proper designer high heels are actually better and comfier?

Not really to be honest. I have some louboutins, some jimmy choos and some badgely mishka. All beautiful shoes but none of them particularly comfortable.

chipsandpeas · 15/10/2018 18:48

nope, ive tried some on and killed my feet within 5 mins
they are nice to look at....and thats about it imo

ZebraCrossingForward · 15/10/2018 18:49

I wondered about all those wedding guests, some gorgeous shoes but I bet they were in agony.

Mamamadecookies · 15/10/2018 18:49

No. 😂

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/10/2018 18:58

Hahahahaha so how do all these people cope in their sky scraper heels?! I mean, when it comes to injuries, I have a pretty high pain threshold - I once walked all the way to work on a broken ankle, but I just can't cope with heels.
Is there a lesson I missed somewhere about how to do it?

Choos and Manolos - yes
Louboutins - fuck no!

MsSquiz · 15/10/2018 19:13

I have 5 inch high Choos and Louboutins, and I find them more comfortable than cheap heels the same height. I do wear 3 or 4 inch heels on a daily basis though, so I'm very used to wearing heels

I wore the Choos from 9am to to midnight on my wedding day, but I did put those gel insoles in so the balls of my feet weren't burning.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/10/2018 20:08

I can’t even get gel insoles to work for me - they mean the shoes no longer fit and rub and blister! Especially as my feet tend to swell in high heels. I’m a failure!!!

Louboutins are the devils own work.

The most comfortable designer shoes imo are Valentino, Sophia Webster and Tom Ford. I can wear those + dance alllllll night !

JosellaPlayton · 15/10/2018 20:12

I think they are comfier in that you can get half sizes and if leather it’s often softer so stretches more easily. Beware of louboutins though, especially if they’re patent unless you’re very narrow of food. I swear by Alice Bow insoles, they really are a game changer. If you need a ‘celeb’ endorsement Kate Middleton also uses them and girlfriend spends a hell of a lot of time standing around smiling and clapping in high heels so that’s got to be worth something.

JosellaPlayton · 15/10/2018 20:12

Narrow of food?! That should be NARROW OF FOOT

TheWiseWomansFear · 15/10/2018 20:14

No, they're worse.

queenofarles · 15/10/2018 20:39

gianvito rossi heels are very comfortable.

fabulousathome · 15/10/2018 20:43

I have taken paracetamol to cope with uncomfortable shoes. Just occasionally.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/10/2018 20:53

Perhaps this is my problem - I have very wide feet!

Botox injections in your feet help !

starzig · 15/10/2018 20:54

My feet are sore reading this. How can anyone put themselves through the torture of heels?

Alabasterangel6 · 15/10/2018 20:59

Not condoning this regularly, but for a major special occasion where you really want to avoid that ball-burn (of the foot variety) say wedding day or important evening do, rub a tiny (and I mean tiny) dob of voltarol gel on the ball of your foot.

And personally....my badgly mishkas are woefully more painful than my Tesco ‘soft sole’ courts of the same height. Hence only owning one pair (that and the mortgage needed to buy any more)

sadnessin · 15/10/2018 21:00

If you have very wide feet then Valentino's are your friends. Don't even bother looking at Loubs!

Thebluedog · 15/10/2018 21:01

Jimmy Choo come in 2 different heel sizes, both high enough not to be sensible, the highest is ridiculously high, the other is wearable. I still end up with wore feet tho after a night in them - but I luurrvvveesss them so try not to care

SuperstarDJ · 15/10/2018 21:04

No, I find them worse!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 15/10/2018 21:18

If you tape together your third and fourth toes it genuinely relieves the pain in the ball of your foot - I did it this year for Ascot and wore Louboutins for the entire day without needing to take them off (and we left at 7am and returned after 10pm).

user1457017537 · 15/10/2018 21:21

M&S Autograph heels are much more comfortable than designer

evilharpy · 15/10/2018 21:52

I don't get the pain in the ball of the foot that everyone seems to complain of, but I do really struggle to find heels that don't rub the skin on my little toe and give me blisters.

I've never had heels that were more expensive than somewhere like Hobbs, but the comfiest pair of black leather heels I've ever owned came from Matalan, of all places. I've spent the whole day standing/walking in them on many an occasion and they're brilliant.

ladyme · 15/10/2018 21:56

My tips are go for an almond toe and read a wikihow about how to walk and stand in high heels. I've followed the tips about smaller steps and especially thinking about how I stand still and find them much more comfortable
