A clarifying shampoo that actually removes residue?!

Does one exist?! I need your help. I look like a badger. I'm addicted to hairspray, use way too much. It leaves its imprint in my hair. No clarifying shampoo seems to really get rid of it. Have been using the Toni and Guy detox one. It's rubbish. Tell me something decent exist! And thanks in advance :-)

An old fashioned bath cube dissolved in warm water. Tip from my 82 year old mum.

UtterlyDesperate · 06/10/2018 11:57

The Bumble and Bumble scalp scrub spray works for me

AhoyDelBoy · 06/10/2018 12:04

Baking sofa and apple cider vinegar, honestly! I’ve been doing this a year now and I swear by it. Make a paste with a couple of tbsp of baking soda, rub in and rinse. Dilute some ACV and pour through hair, leave awhile and then rinse. Soft shiny hair Smile

AhoyDelBoy · 06/10/2018 12:05

Soda obviously Smile

Redken Hair Cleansing Cream. I’ve been using it for over 10 years.

This Paul Mitchell one is very good.

Vosene £1 from Poundland

Washing up liquid does the trick for me. I use it once a month.

ShadyLady53 · 06/10/2018 15:05

Another vote for apple cider vinegar. Scalp has never been so clean!

DorisDays · 06/10/2018 15:08

Really?! ACV?! I'll give it a go for sure

The aldi's own one works for me

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 06/10/2018 15:47

Tresseme clarifying shampoo is amazing!

It’s gotten rid of so much crap from my hair. I use it a couple of times a week and it’s great.

BellMcEnd · 06/10/2018 15:49

I read once that good old washing up liquid works. I’m sure people who know waaaay more about hair than I do will be horrified but it works for me!

Dontbuymesocks · 06/10/2018 15:52

Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo is amazing for this.

applesandpears33 · 06/10/2018 16:16

Glycerine soap can help too.

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 06/10/2018 16:37

A second vote for Tresemme.. fab stuff

Djnoun · 06/10/2018 17:48

My hairdresser didn't think there was anything wrong with washing up liquid. My hair actually looks amazing after I've used it.

FlamingoLass · 06/10/2018 17:52

With most shampoos we aren’t actually using them as well as we could. Dampen the hair, not soak, and apply the shampoo. Technically you want to emulsify any oils (think about washing a oily frying pan) and build up the water as you froth it up.
Leaving it 5 mins can help too.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 06/10/2018 17:56

How do you even know you have residue on your hair? Is this clarifying thing something we should all be doing now?

DorisDays · 06/10/2018 17:58

Thanks everyone! Will check out all these and definitely tresseme and neutrogena. @FaceLikeAPairOfTits You can see it - like white flecks or streaks caked in to your hair

Ooh, I don’t think I’ve seen that. But now I’m on high alert.Smile

hendal · 06/10/2018 18:42

ACV. I dilute it in warm water and use basically like shampoo. Works fantastically.

ChishandFips33 · 06/10/2018 18:47

Back when I went to a swanky hairdresser he said buy the cheapest shampoo as it doesn't have all the extra crap in it (think he was implying dimethicond etc)

I was using baby shampoo but am transitioning to shampoo soap bars (honey and glycerin or the a than oil one)

Have ACV from Aldi to rinse

ChishandFips33 · 06/10/2018 18:47

Argan oil not 'a than'
