Where do you get your knitwear?

I’m mid 30s, no kids and not ready for Boden yet. I’m done with Topshop acrylic and want some nice jumpers. I have some interesting ones from Cos but want something a bit more classic too (especially as I’m petite so can look swamped).

I tried on a John Lewis cashmere crew neck today and was very tempted but it was a tad boring.

Where is everyone getting their interesting but stylish jumpers from?

I love to scour charity shops got wool blend khaki cos jumper for 1.50

Roxetta · 22/09/2018 22:23

I'm late 20s and looking for better quality than topshop also. I've seen a few nice things on Abercrombie & Fitch website. Following with interest to see what others suggest.

IamThatWoman · 22/09/2018 22:25

For brands try Jumper1234, Chinti&Parker, Wyse and Cocoa Cashmere. Also Cove.

Online shops which stock try Katie&Jo, IrisFashion.

SpiritedLondon · 22/09/2018 23:07

If you like Cos maybe try Arket and & Other Stories. I just bought an oversized black polo neck ( high neck of some sort ) which I shall wear over a leather pencil skirt for a more casual take. For classic knitwear I have some cashmere from Jaeger but it’s defintely classic rather than fashionable.

LunaTheCat · 22/09/2018 23:25

Brora but only in the sales.
White stuff have a striped jumper which looks seriously delish currently but I am not sure enough sizing so would have to take a gamble.

itchybumhole · 23/09/2018 01:08

What about Hush? I have some of their sweaters/jumpers and they wash well and wear with anything.

Elledorado · 23/09/2018 08:32

I've been really impressed with Baukjen for knitwear with a twist. Also obviously Uniqlo for classic but in good colours (got a fab wine/burgundy v neck) and they wear well.

Elledorado · 23/09/2018 08:33

Also h&m have some really great knitwear if you have time to wade through the crap

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 23/09/2018 08:36

I have a gorgeous jumper from the White Company. Quite a small selection there but classic styles.

LillyLeaf · 23/09/2018 08:47

Love & Other Stories knitwear. Also some premium brands on ASOS like Selected Femme are nice too.

AbsintheFriends · 23/09/2018 08:54

My nearest TK Maxx always has a cashmere section in autumn/winter. I was in there the other day and they had some gorgeous, good quality cashmere jumpers for 39 and 59 quid (sorry, pound sign on my laptop broken!) I can't remember the make, but they were lovely.

Other places to buy good cashmere are The White Company and Hush, but that involves serious investment.

Xiaoxiong · 23/09/2018 08:56

Uniqlo, I live in their 100% merino jumpers!

TiddleTaddleTat · 23/09/2018 09:08

Second uniqlo ! Great for petites as well.

Branleuse · 23/09/2018 09:12

Interesting and stylish knitwear is unnecessary and at risk of dating quickly.

I have just got a black cashmere m&s hoodie new from ebay and its incredible soft and warm and as useful as any other hoodie. I wanted m&s so it would be machine washable and i will wear it all winter

SergeantPfeffer · 23/09/2018 09:14

Whistles do some very nice fine knits, and their jumpers last.
I buy my fine knits from warehouse (can’t afford whistles, sadly!). The quality isn’t as good (although better than topshop) but they are a lot cheaper and I find their styles flattering if you aren’t massive on top. I love a nice, fitted (NOT boxy) fine knit.
Zara used to be good for these too, but I haven’t been in there in ages. French connection too.

MaybeDoctor · 23/09/2018 09:19

Watching with interest as I am thinking of going towards merino jumpers for winter casual wear. I currently wear a lot of long-sleeved bretons with cardigans, but all my cardigans are wearing out...

What do you wear underneath?
Also, does anyone wear men’s jumpers? I keep being tempted by the much better quality for the price!

maddjess · 23/09/2018 09:22

I've just got 2 from lands end in debenams nice cable knit jumpers x

Softleftpowerstance · 23/09/2018 09:39

I’ve been buying a few bits from & Other Stories recently so sounds like I need to check out the knitwear.

I haven’t been in Uniqlo for years for some reason, I’ll need to take a look.

I like this from Hush a lot - and no risk of it dating.

That hush one is a bit yawn though? You can buy black crew necks anywhere.

Elledorado · 23/09/2018 09:51

Ah this is fab though. Have never looked at &other stories really, must do so!

Softleftpowerstance · 23/09/2018 10:00

I like the cut and detail of the plainer ones but for me the zig zag stripes are channelling the 70s trend a bit too much.

Maybe it is yawn that I want after all.

I bought some pure cashmere jumpers & cardigans through the Asian Site Ali express, last year. I was quite happy as they were Literally a fraction of the price of cashmere here & of decent quality. Downside can take 3-4 weeks to arrive. And be meticulous when reading the sizing, description etc & read all small print. I bought Most of the pieces in m or large. I'm a size 10-12 in the UK & most fitted quite well. Some of the cashmere has pilled a little but I think that is to be expected after so much wearSmile

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/09/2018 10:17

Try eBay OP, I've bought some Joseph jumpers from there for a fraction of the price I'd pay in store and they're all in excellent condition.

Is this naff or nice? www.whitestuff.com/womens/knitwear/grey-multi-i-heart-disco-jumper/

I like that but I’m a sucker for a raglan sleeve.
