Pyjamas after work?

user1483390742 · 17/09/2018 20:35

Am i the only person in the world who does not change into pyjamas or loungewear when they get in from work?
I might change my clothes but would never consider sitting around in pjs all evening with my DH!
What am i missing??

I've put on a bit of weight recently and soon as I get home from work it's bra off and pjs on.

A few months ago when I was slimmer the pencil skirt and the heels stayed on until after dinner! If I'm carrying any extra weight I find my clothes so uncomfortable!

TheHollowLeggedGoat · 17/09/2018 23:07

DP does this, the minute he walks in the door. I hate men in tracksuit bottoms and I hate that he always looks so slovenly. I barely see him in "proper" clothes from weekend to weekend.
I'm not saying he should wear a suit and tie until he goes to bed but I would find him far more attractive in a shirt and jeans than in trackybums and an old sweatshirt!

FoodGloriousFud · 17/09/2018 23:19

'Loungewear' here too... Next soft touch joggers with either a hoody or vest. Then shorts and a different vest to sleep in.

Babybearsporij · 18/09/2018 18:36

I do, but I don't finish until midnight, so it's straight to bed when I get it Grin HTH!

However, when I am "in" for the night, I will often put joggers or leggings & a comfy top on. Pyjamas are for bed.

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/09/2018 19:01

I don't own pyjamas or loungewear. I wouldn't dream of changing into them when I got home. I wear my usual clothes at home. If I've worn a formal suit to work that day, I will probably change into something less dressy when I get home but that's the only difference. I also only wear sportswear to do sport/exercise in. Loungewear is an alien concept to me.

SilverLake · 18/09/2018 19:56

I get changed but into casual day wear such as a lose skirt or jeans - things that wash easily since I'll likely be cooking etc

DontCallMeCharlotte · 18/09/2018 20:03

I find the MN obsession with PJs slightly bewildering - I'd feel like something out of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I do usually get changed but into leggings or jeggings and a cosy jumper and fluffy socks in winter. I do like to be front door ready though as we're quite a social household so you never know who's going to turn up next.

delphguelph · 18/09/2018 20:06

Madness to take bra off.

I put on comfy clothes, lounge wear if you like, it's powder blue too.

EndeavourVoyage · 18/09/2018 20:09

PJs are for bed, I have other casual clothes I wear after work.

Oh no, it’s naked for bed and PJ’s as soon as I know I am not leaving the house, that could be all weekend even. I feel rather slovenly nowGrin

Jolonglegs · 18/09/2018 20:14

Casual clothes for me when I'm in for the night such as baggy shirt/tunic and jeans/jeggings etc. Bra stays on! I too don't understand this fascination in wearing PJs when not in bed, but each to their own.

AngloSaxonEarthenware · 18/09/2018 20:19

I wear the same clothes all day, don't change in to lounge wear or PJs. I don't even own a pair of PJs!
My work clothes are comfortable so I just keep them on.

I feel terrible without a bra, the old girls are on the floor

More2Fly · 18/09/2018 20:27

Well I'm not going to sit in a suit watching tv... but I wouldn't put on PJs either. To me it would just feel like the day is over. I'd put on comfy jeans/leggings/tracksuit

BeautifulPossibilities · 18/09/2018 20:36

So do you leave your work stuff on or do you have a midway outfit? I do PJs, DH has midway comfies. I'm generally in PJ bottoms if in the house. Why do you care though?

HeronLanyon · 18/09/2018 21:24

If I am home in the evening I shower and then into what I call “runners”. They have not been running ever.

Mokepon · 18/09/2018 21:33

Madness to take bra off. ShockShock
I do not comprehend this at all.
As soon as I get home it's shoes and socks off, bra off and some form of comfortable attire on.
I have just treated myself to a couple of kaftans. In my mind I'm like Margo from The Good Life but DD calls me carpet lady as that is what it looks like I'm wearing. BEST.BUY.EVER.

civicxx · 18/09/2018 22:12

shower & PJS the second I'm in through the door, however that may also be due to my shifts! But if i wake up on a day off & we aren't leaving the house there's no way I'd be wearing jeans haha!

Haggishaggispudding · 18/09/2018 22:15

Is there an ongoing pj troll who is determined to improve the lives of men across the nation by shaming the women of mumsnet into not wearing their jammies straighg from Work?

2nd or 3rd time I’ve seen a thread about this in as many weeks. Wear pjs, wear sexy lingerie, wear a flamingo costume. No one cares. HTH.

IrregularCommentary · 18/09/2018 22:18

Still wearing what I wore to work (jeans and smartish top).

Tend to shower in the morning, but would change into pjs after an evening shower.

ArrivisteRevolt · 18/09/2018 22:47

I only got into loungewear quite recently. Now I dream of a cashmere onesie.

I put on loungewear at the end of the day I think the same way some people have a glass of wine or a bath - I am physically moving on from my working day.

Meet0nTheIedge · 18/09/2018 22:54

No PJs or loungewear here, I stay in what I'm wearing, usually jeans, till bedtime, that includes bra (I tend to think that if you need to take it off early you probably need a better fitting one). I pop out a lot in the evenings, wouldn't be able to do that in PJs and would feel weird answering the door in them. I've never heard anyone IRL say they do this, only on MN.

legolammb · 18/09/2018 23:08

I do loungewear - harem pants, a built in support vest instead of bra and maybe a hoodie. I'll sometimes wear a big dressing gown if cold. I'd rather get cooking spills on my cheap loungewear than good work clothes. I also commute home on the tube, so in the same way I take shoes off when coming in, I feel cleaner wearing indoor clothes on the sofa etc.

Disappointed that this thread wasn't full of links to stylish yet comfortable nightwear...
