Recommendations please - a properly scrubby body scrub

My knees are horrific – dry, hardened and scaly, following too many years kneeling on the floor to change nappies. I’m fixing them using a body scrub daily and then cracked heel balm to soften and I’ve definitely seen improvement, but it is a slow process.

The scrub is nice enough, but it feels quite gentle, and I think if I used one with a bit more ‘oomph’ it might speed things up. Can anyone recommend anything that is properly heavy duty (short of using actual sandpaper!) that I could try?

Korean Italy cloths. Forget scrubs. You need these bad boys, they have literally transformed my skin and they are cheap as chips on amazon.
You can thank me laterWinkGrin

Am not intrigued by those towels now!

This scrub is incredible. Smells wonderful and is so scrubby it leaves me red raw but in the most satisfying way, it is also full of oils so once the redness fades after your shower, you're left with the most beautifully soft and smooth skin. Can't recommend it highly enough.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 10/09/2018 10:53

Ooh, tricky! Such high praise for the cloths, but I do like the sound of satisfyingly red raw too, as that was pretty much what I had in mindGrin

Thanks, both!

@holycityzoo - lots of the reviews on the cloths say you need to soak in the bath. We don't actually have a bath, do they work okay in the shower?

Yes a long hot shower is fine. They basically sandpaper your skin so the softer your skin the more that comes off. You can be a little glowing bright red afterwards. I usually use them in the evening the slather with an oil or thick moisturiser afterwards.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 11/09/2018 09:46

Right! I've ordered them! I'll try the cloths first because they are cheaper

Thanks, both!

Ooh how exciting!
Let us know what you think?!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/09/2018 19:24

I love the cloths, they buff the skin off in a horrifically fascinating way Grin. I need to do my elbows soon.

My skin has improved tenfold , I'm not a fan of baths TBH, even worse it's a boring no-bubbles-bath.
But SO worth it. I dunk my body in to my shoulders and just have my face/neck above the water with my hands clutching a book.
I've never suffered redness after.
And the bath isn't covered in grubby oils either .

Mary1935 · 12/09/2018 19:38

I’ve had a look at those Korean Italy cloths - they look a bit like them green square pan scouters!!!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 12/09/2018 19:49

Those cloths are great. I really did not think they would be as good as they are.

I have a normal shower, turn the water off and use the cloth (worn as a glove, wet, no soap) - and dead skin just rolls off. It's disgusting and amazing at the same time! Then rinse.

They are quite small, so it helps stretching them while wet to make sure they fit fairly well on the hand.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 12/09/2018 20:32

I'm excited to try them now!

@Mary1935 pan scourer is exactly the effect my knees need!Smile

The Garnier yellow sugar scrub was fab but I think it's been discontinued sadly. I'm eeking out the remains of my last tube. The Clinique one is pretty good too but obviously more expensive.

Fullfatlatte · 12/09/2018 21:30

Which ones from Amazon did you order? Are they the green pack of 4 at £6.49 (Amazons choice ones)?

I’m also going to jump on the band wagon to try them 😀 Thanks

Redken24 · 12/09/2018 21:32

Please a link for these miracle cloths

Those cloths are great. I have given myself burns though in my excitement for smooth skin Grin

Wanttomakemincepies · 13/09/2018 08:39

I find the Salux cloths better. They are long enough to do your back too. There is a heavy duty one but I have found the normal one excellent. Can be used in bath or shower. I used it after getting rid of my chicken skin with Amelorilate (?sp) and it has never come back. I find if I haven't used it now I don't feel clean.
For an actual body scrub I like sanctuary one with sea salt in a mason type jar.
If you want to get rid of the hard skin though, a physical exfoliant will not work. You need a chemical one, anything with AHA or BHA's.

Fullfatlatte · 13/09/2018 20:14

Thank you Quantum, ordered this morning & can’t wait to try tomorrow evening. I’ll be sure to report back 👍😀

rosepoet · 16/09/2018 21:23

Um, this is spoof, eh, judging by the posters name!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 16/09/2018 22:01

@rosepoet why do you say that? I only wish my knees were a spoof!

I bought some black soap and argon oil in Morocco this year. It makes my skin so soft! Think you can get it on Amazon ( often called Savon Noir )

KateAlexander · 16/09/2018 22:09

If you don’t mind it rough (ooh er) this one is definitely your mate. Pieces of pumice stone absolutely slough everything off!
