Dry skin on feet, how to sort it?

Sarahani · 20/08/2018 19:44

So I have horrible dry skin all over my feet. Heels are particularly bad and tbh they just look unsightly. Anyone have any tips on keeping them soft and looking reasonable?

I usually have pedicures but time doesn't allow right now.

Sandpaper does the trick

starlight33 · 20/08/2018 19:55

Footner from Boots is amazing. Pop the socks on leave for an hour wash off and one/two weeks later soft feet.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 20/08/2018 19:55

Foot file, the cheese grater kind, and a really good moisturiser. I've had really good results this weekend with a £2 foot file and Weleda
Skin Food. My feet are softer than they have been for ages.

Flexitol, or boots own brand equivalent, plenty rubbed in before bedtime.

Tara336 · 20/08/2018 20:05

Footner amazing product

Fatted · 20/08/2018 20:05

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! I put cream on morning and night and pop socks over them. I also have one of those pedegg type things and use that every couple of weeks to keep the dry skin off.

BruceAndNosh · 20/08/2018 20:08

Footner is fine as long as you don't mind your feet flaking everywhere and looking gross for several days.
I swear by Flexitol - if your feet are bad, get the heavy duty stuff, slather it on at night, then old socks on top.
It might be worth doing some preparatory filing before.
Your feet will be lovely within a week and no flaking

EnidButton · 20/08/2018 20:09

Footner.

Someone might come along and say it's the devil's work but balls. It's amazing stuff and doesn't cause any damage or pain so I don't see the problem with it other than it takes away ££ from people who beautify feet for a living.
Obviously any proper problems like callouses and bunions need a professional but dry, tough skin? Get some footner socks on them, they'll be like new in a couple of weeks.

EnidButton · 20/08/2018 20:11

You have to keep up with some good moisturiser after the footner too.

The one by O'Keefe's is meant to be excellent (it's on my to buy list) and Soap & Glory have a minty one that's very good.

Urgh... I work from home and in warm weather usually go barefoot, that's convinced me to stick with flexitol!

Geillis · 20/08/2018 20:15

Footner is okay if you're prepared to hide your feet for a couple of weeks while the skin flakes off, my MIL used it 3 days before her holiday and it ruined it for her! She didn't realise what would happen.

Scholl cracked heel cream slathered on at night, old socks and a good foot grater on the morning. Repeat for lovely trotters!

Honeyroar · 20/08/2018 20:16

If you can get to one, I find walking barefoot on the beach is brilliant for sorting out rhought skin. Then Body Shop's body butter on them afterwards.

Nicpem1982 · 20/08/2018 20:18

Superdrug foot masks are lovely I do an foot soak with Epsom salts then file then a mask then cream before bed and that worked for me

Cupoteap · 20/08/2018 20:19

I got a chargeable foot sander type thing from wish, it's fab

TenaciousP · 20/08/2018 20:20

This is quite extreme, but it works on my dry, cracked feet. My partner uses a random orbital sander, with worn, pre-used grade 120 sand paper. My feet are so smooth! Do you know anyone who is into DIY and willing to assist???

bettydraper31 · 20/08/2018 20:22

Smother your feet in Vaseline and put socks on overnight. It did the trick for me in one night. My feet were so dry the skin was splitting.

Sarahani · 20/08/2018 20:31

These are great thanks. Have ordered footner and will invest at NBA good foot cream for after. I do have a grater/sander thing but don't find I can get into the nooks and crannies of the toe area.

No cracking thankfully as I go moisturise but it's not alleviated the problem.

Rub oil into your feet at night and put on a pair of socks.
Coconut, almond etc is fine.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/08/2018 20:43

Jesus foot grater 😳😳, I'm wincing

AesopsMables · 20/08/2018 21:16

I use Perfect Heels Rescue Balm - This Works Brand. It does too, very good and no peeling involved

figelnarage · 20/08/2018 21:19

My mum has the most rotten feet, think old man thick skin. She used these and her feet were like baby feet after a few days

You need more essential fatty acids in your diet!

CountFosco · 20/08/2018 21:26

Another vote for flexitol, the 25% urea heel balm. It's amazing stuff. My heels were always horribly cracked, bleeding and painful, now they are gorgeous, no pain at all, it's incredible. Soak your feet then rub in the flexitol twice a day. You'll see a difference in 24h.
