Dry skin on feet, how to sort it?

So I have horrible dry skin all over my feet. Heels are particularly bad and tbh they just look unsightly. Anyone have any tips on keeping them soft and looking reasonable?

I usually have pedicures but time doesn't allow right now.

My podiatrist swears 80% of us are suffering from athletes foot and we don't even realise. Try a couple of days of Lamisil or similar all over as well as the moisturising. My feet are the softest ever after cracking this.

Flexitol heel balm
I prescribe it for diabetic patients with dry cracked skin on their heels
You can buy it though

Callus shaver - beautiful thing

Pee in the shower. All these creams have urea in! Wink

My feet are very dry and cracked too and I found that olive oil cream helped. I cover my feet and then wrap them in cling film and put thick socks on for 30 mins. It works wonders.

Another vote for empirical antifungal/athlete’s foot treatment. It’s so common, esp where kids around and causes cracked heels/toes.

I get a horrible callus on my heels, really thick skin that’s just horrible. One time when it was particularly thick I tried a footner type thing, didn’t work as the callus was that thick. The only thing that really worked was going to the podiatrist and getting it scraped off. Didn’t hurt at all. I first had it done 5 years ago, and went back about two months ago. The same guy did it both times, and recommended that I come back after about four or so months just to keep on top of it, because mine gets pretty bad.

Love this.less than £5 and free delivery. But use it at least a week before you want to show your feet off, it take a while for the skin to flake off.

Vicks VapoRub. Put it on overnight with a pair of socks. It’ll take 10 years off your feet.

notangelinajolie · 21/08/2018 02:49

Footner is bloody amazing but don't expect a miracles if you put the socks on for the hour they recommend and then wait for something to happen - because it won't work. You need to be really proactive.

Leave socks on for at least half an hour longer than they recommend. Soak feet in a bucket of warm water for at least an hour every day afterwards. Even better if you can do it ... morning, noon and night. The soaking bit is really important. Showers are no good - bath or bucket is the way to go. And repeat ...
It took me three goes before I had baby soft feet.

It does work - I promise.

The cracked heel cream from Poundland works well for me!!!

I'm current 5 days on from doing a Footner. I'm shedding like a snake. It's fab.

goose1964 · 21/08/2018 21:38

I've used the foot peel socks and a few weeks later it's back to its old dry self, waste of money. I'm trying to moisturise daily to see if that improves it

MotherofPearl · 21/08/2018 22:03

This summer I've been using a pumice stone every morning in the shower, and then plenty of Neals Yard Comfrey & Mallow Foot Balm afterwards, and my feet feel much softer than in previous summers when I've neglected them a bit.

Sarahani · 22/08/2018 10:27

Footners have arrived. Also got the grater out and applied foot cream so they're feeling marginally better. Might repeat for a couple of days before trying the footner.

Think I need to moisturise a lot more than I have been just to maintain it. I'm bare foot a lot and on my feet for work so probably need to invest more time in them but that the story with my whole body these days really!

I bought Flexitol yesterday and after one application I think it will help.

I bought footner a the start of summer but Didn’t use it yet . Will keep for next year . However I do mind my feet and I swear by loccitance foot cream . I put in every night before bed and I love the smell of it and my feet feel really moisturised . I exfoliate every few nights while in bath or shower and use a foot file perhaps 3 times a week . I have one of those scholl blades for the stick out bit on side of big toe as I get really hard skin there and use if when feet soft after a shower . Do not use on hard dry skin as you will cut lumps out . Experience lol .
