Hello I saved and saved for a Brazilian blow dry and its useless am.i doing something wrong. Hair feels sticky like conditioner left in. Using hair dresser products so know they're right ones. Hair takes so much work to.look ok.

Anyone?

Stop using the hairdresser products and just use your normal shampoo. Those products are horrible!

I’ve been having mine done for a few years now. It does make a huge difference to the frizz factor of my hair. But I never use the products and now pay less to just get the treatment without products.

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 16:48

Thank you. Can i ask what shampoo you use?

OP posts:
QuoadUltra · 18/08/2018 16:50

Anything that’s in the shower Grin. Aussie usually.

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 17:29

Thank you I thought it had to be sulphate free or it would strip the Brazilian blow dry off? I'll have to ditch the one I've got, makes hair smell like wet dog too

The Brazilian blow dry I use says to only use sodium chloride free products. Most shampoos and lots of conditioners have sale in them but I usually get my salt free ones online.

ViserionTheDragon · 18/08/2018 17:49

Do not use Aussie shampoo, that is terrible advice! It has SLS in it and will undo your blow-dry (as you even said yourself). That would be terrible, especially as you have saved up for it.

Could you send a pic of what you are using? Are they high in silicones? They tend to weigh the hair down.

I personally swear by Mixed Chics shampoo (SLS free of course) and leave in conditioner.

coffeeneeded · 18/08/2018 17:55

I used ogx shampoo after my Brazilian blow dry. No sulphate and lovely hair for ages.

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 18:20

It's called kerastraight you got them as part of the Brazilian package at hairdressers, but the smell on my hair is awful, wonder if it's old stock or something. I'll try the ogx ones when I'm home from holiday. I haven't been near pool or sea and had such high hopes for fizz free hair.

Or mixed chicks

how long ago did you have it done? It can feel a bit limp initially, but gets better after a few washes.

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 18:47

Just last Thursday was really impressed with the finish, left it around 4 days before washing. It's felt sticky with no real change, my hair is coloured so thought it would take better. I'm.needing to wash everyday. Must be the shampoo im thinking, I get back Wednesday so will buy different shampoo. My friend had hers done at dame salon with excellent results

Ahh ... that is what a Brazilian Blow Dry is! I have had images in my head of doing complicated things to ones nether regions with a hairdryer!

CatPatrol · 18/08/2018 19:37

Definitely use salt free shampoo!

You say you had to save up for ages for it but you can buy the treatment on Amazon for £25 and it is quite straightforward to diy in future.

CatPatrol · 18/08/2018 19:39

I use this shampoo and conditioner from Amazon. I have long hair and have been having a Brazilian Blow Dry for many years. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00ILU0DA8/ref=mp_s_a_1_10_a_it?ref=plSrch&keywords=salt+free+shampoo&dpPl=1&dpID=51AujGz0UaL&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1534617459&sr=8-10

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 21:14

I know I've got the chocoloco kit at home i should have used that first. I'm up north and was £169, least ive tried it and will use the diy in future, change shampoo and ive always wondered and thought it would have changed my life.

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 21:15

Thanks mumsnetters im going to order that shampoo from Amazon too

OP posts:
daphine2004 · 18/08/2018 21:19

Kerastraight here too. North west £250. Not impressed and followed advice, so now just give up. Won’t be having it done again.

AdventuresRUs · 18/08/2018 21:21

Er i get one done at abouy 70-80 quid (not thick hair!) And was never told to use special shampoo. And it lasts ages!

bellalou1234 · 18/08/2018 21:29

Think here theres 2 places that do it. I'm with you op destined to have unruly hair

OP posts:
TheLastNigel · 19/08/2018 09:31

Sulphate free products from the beginning after having it done and you also have to avoid chlorine-have you been swimming whilst on holiday?

bellalou1234 · 19/08/2018 21:01

No ive had it pinned up in a top knot

OP posts:
Cardiganandcuppa · 19/08/2018 21:10

I haven’t had a Brazilian blow dry but Sulfate free shampoos always make my hair feel sticky and disgusting.

Jupiter9 · 19/08/2018 21:13

I've heard of Brazilian down below, do you then use an hairdryer to fluff it all up.

Slidyslide · 19/08/2018 21:29

I had a kerastraight treatment done and it did practically nothing so I'm back to using the diy cocochocco one and it works a treat plus lasts for months. I hated the kerastraight products (they smell really bad!) so I use the keratin kit shampoo and conditioner from amazon, which work really well (just larger it up a bit before applying).
