Novice ladygardener needs pruning advice

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 01/06/2007 13:24

I will not ever never wax down there.

have tried shaving round the bikini line and made a bodge job of it and the regrowth was so painful it's unreal.

How do I go about pruning the bushes so to speak without waxing or being in itchy pain?

has to be diy.

Sorry but waxing is only option. Buy some "Nads" - at name - and grit your teeth. It's not as bad as you think!

Nip · 01/06/2007 13:41

I bought an electric lady garden shaver - its fab - doesnt hurt and no pain when growing back... I got it from Tescos for about a tenner

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 19:57

so what do we think of veet or immac down there?

They sell B'kini razors y'know, they are tiny with a protective blade. I tried them this week and found it fiddly. I usually shave my fingernails off when doing lady garden.

Since I thought this was about tree pruning I will just add that today my mother told me not to prune vines until winter because they 'bleed'.

rantinghousewife · 07/06/2007 20:01

Ermm, now you'll think I'm really odd but, dh does mine with a special attachment on his hair clippers!!

FrannyandZooey · 07/06/2007 20:02

Immac is ok

then shorten what's left with one of those fanny strimmers

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:03

would nail scissors do rather than a strimmer?[worried look on face]

OP posts:
lou33 · 07/06/2007 20:04

creams are ok if you are just doing hte edges, but i wouldn't advise it for your more delicate areas, because it stings

home waxing i tried but the strips were crap, i usually just shave, i use a mach 3, which leaves me pretty smooth

if you do it often enough you dont get itchy anymore

Lucycat · 07/06/2007 20:04

yep nail scissors are fine - just watch the curved blades

then veet the rest to your imagination!

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:06

i rally am just thinking of a tidy up rather than a full removal. not really into the idea of nothing down there-think it has weird connotations, but it is quite wild and need smartening up.

like i said last time i had a go with a razor and my god- i could hardly walk afterwards

OP posts:
lou33 · 07/06/2007 20:08

if it's just a short back and sides then i would trim with scissors to desired length and immac the edges

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:10

i think that is what i will do lou

the things we do in the name of beauty....

Lucycat · 07/06/2007 20:10

yep you can leave a little tufty bit if you like, sort of a mohican?

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:11

ooh noooo lucycat

i want more cover than that-just neater!!!

god this is embarrassing-i can't believe i'm talking about my pubes!!!!

OP posts:
lou33 · 07/06/2007 20:11

hahah @ mohican, is that a spiked gelled one?

i cant be bothered with fussing over style so i just take it all off, sometimes i leave a bit but it's quite frankly, too much extra bother

cylonbabe · 07/06/2007 20:14

hairy, a lot depends on what race you are. as that usually dictates what sort of hair you have there.
i'm asian, and have found the best option is to get it waxed. but only by a professional. sure it hurts, but like everything you get used to it, and the best bit is, it only hurts then.
i found regrowth with shaving immossibly painful.
the creams dissolve the hair away, but leave the skin in a nasty nasty state for weeks and weeks.
the epilators are simply tooo painful.

the only other option is to use a pair of scissors every so often.

never ever ever use home waxing strips down there, or anywhere at all delicate.

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:18

in what way does it damage the skin? tell me more before i go and buy some veet please.

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 20:19

i am caucasion-but i do have very fair sensitive skin...but am quite hairy down there

OP posts:
lou33 · 07/06/2007 20:22

ive never had a problem with creams in that way, just that it has stung when it got on the more delicate bits

cylonbabe · 07/06/2007 20:38

my skin has always been left red blotchy and itchy and dry by these creams. i am asian with dark hair. but the pubic hair is horrible black, thick, stiff . horrible.
having said that, my mom has been using these creams quite happily for fifty years.

try them and see how you get on. my personal recomendation would still be professional waxing. or a little trim with scissors.

CaptainCaveman · 07/06/2007 20:41

LOL at fannystrimmers!!

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 07/06/2007 21:14

right -have been and bought a veet bikini kit. will give it a go.

wish meluck.

Having visions of Flymo bringing out a range of Fannystrimmers now!!! pmsl!

hairymclaryofdonaldsonsdairy · 08/06/2007 00:42

well-it's done and i can't say it was a great success.
the veet left me with stubble

i had to shave that off.

still not happy. not the smooth skin i would have hope for.

will be itching like crazy tomorrow.

would rather be hairymclary.
