Hi - I am curious which Louis Vuitton style you prefer out of Damier Ebene Canvas (1st photo) or Monogram Canvas (2nd photo)?

(I bought some small items today in Monogram Canvas but kind of regret not getting the other design Sad)

I prefer the first

StrawberriesAndCream123 · 01/08/2018 21:46

I really don't like either. What help that is I don't know! Saying that they are very similar and I think the style you went for was much more classic LV.

makeupmaven · 01/08/2018 21:52

The first is more understated.

Margueritte · 01/08/2018 21:55

Am I allowed to say neither? It would feel like carrying an advert.

flutteryleaves · 01/08/2018 22:04

if i had to choose, i'd say the monogram.

they are both very instantly recognisable prints which is obviously what you want isn't it? You know, show that you can afford luxury pieces Grin

flutteryleaves · 01/08/2018 22:05

by the way, i'm an LV fan.

NameChangeUni · 01/08/2018 23:12

Well I just bought a card holder and key holder, so really small items so it wouldn’t be too garish. I just posted photos of the clutch to show the differences better? I definitely couldn’t afford the clutchGrin thanks all!

If pushed, I’d go for the first one; the second is more ubiquitous & I’d assume it was counterfeit if I saw someone with an item in that design. I think my holiday purse is a knock off of that design & was bought because it was small and v cheap.

verite · 02/08/2018 07:37

Not keen on either but if I had to choose it would be the first.

Serendipite · 02/08/2018 13:27

DE looks better in this style.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 02/08/2018 14:57

I own LV pieces in both the Damier Ebene and the Monogram along with the Damier Azur. Both are gorgeous and hard wearing.

I do prefer larger pieces in Damier Ebene unless it’s a limited edition such as the Stephen sprouse or their luggage collection.

bellsbuss · 02/08/2018 15:07

I have both but prefer monogram , I think a lot of people think LV costs a lot more than it actuality does. My neverfull monogram was cheaper than my mulberry

RobinEggs · 02/08/2018 15:11

Neither of them are lovely. At a push I’d choose the first one as at least it’s not quite so obviously garish.

FacelikeaBagofHammers · 02/08/2018 15:15

Neither. I just don't get the fascination with LV.

ilikesalad · 02/08/2018 18:55

Love the damier. I think it’s actually the ordinal design could be wrong tho

ilikesalad · 02/08/2018 18:59

Original I meant

Chanelprincess · 02/08/2018 19:14

Damier Ebene but both work well for SLGs and are hard wearing in my experience. Can't abide either on the Neverfull though.

Chanelprincess · 02/08/2018 19:21

I think a lot of people think LV costs a lot more than it actuality does.

I'm not sure about that. I think Louis Vuitton is considered an 'accessible' brand versus ''premium' or 'high end' brands because of the well known low price point of its canvas pieces.

ElspethFlashman · 02/08/2018 19:53

In the small items I prefer the Ebene I think. But then the monogram in the larger bags. I think th Monogram is a bit pointless on a really small item. It's lost.

makeupmaven · 02/08/2018 20:10

The thing is, LV actually isn't that cheap. It's not entry level designer price points, like Kate Spade. The totes are £1k+. The teeny pochettes are about £300. It's because it's so often knocked off that people think it's cheaper.

flutteryleaves · 02/08/2018 20:16

louis vuitton is not accessible - the copies are! £130 for a cardholder in canvas?? £300 for a canvas make up bag? £850 for a ubiquitous canvas tote bag?

Kate Spade, Coach, Longchamp leather (not le pliage) and Marc Jacobs are accessible.

LV is part of the luxury triligogy - Chanel, Hermes and LV.

its very desirable though. i get it, nice blue shirt, jeans and bit of monogram looks timeless.

Chanelprincess · 02/08/2018 20:31

LV is part of the luxury triligogy - Chanel, Hermes and LV.

Definitely not - Chanel and Hermes are considered premium but not high end brands, Louis Vuitton isn't even premium.

flutteryleaves · 02/08/2018 20:37

ok, that's not what i had gathered in the bag community . 31k for a lv city steamer in exotic leather? sure its not an £80k hermes but still.

chanelprincess, would you mind sharing what a high end brand is the please?

flutteryleaves · 02/08/2018 20:47
