Facial exfoliator (a gritty one)

Can anyone recommend me a good facial exfoliator (physical, rather than chemical) with lots of fine gritty bits in it? Not those shite micro plastic beads, though...
I've had one from espa before that was IDEAL but also £30! So hoping for something a little cheaper. 😗

Have you tried the St Ives apricot scrub? I find that to be quite gritty. You can get a travel size one in Superdrug for a couple of pounds if you want to give it a try without buying full size. Even the full size one is nowhere near £30!

Boots No 7 Micro Dermabrasion is effective, but you'll need spf 50 afterwards (bitter, hyperpigmented experience)

Beeyawnsay · 01/08/2018 18:18

Porridge oats and honey. It's really really nice. And if you get hungry.....................

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/08/2018 18:19

St Ives Apricot is great, follow with a rich mousturiser and you'll have lovely smooth skin.

Aduki beans ground to a powder and mixed to a paste with water.

Body shop used to sell it as “Japanese washing grains” in the 1980s until everyone discovered you could make your own for a fraction of the price. Worked a treat, too.

wildhorsesrunfree · 01/08/2018 18:23

Soap and glory have some great ones at just £8 a tub. And made of natural ingredients too.

LockedOutOfMN · 01/08/2018 18:51

St. Ives apricot

Racecardriver · 01/08/2018 18:53

Beauty pie do a really nice chemical but gritty one called fruitizyme. My favourite is Dermalogica Daily Micro foiliant which is superfine but very expensive. Otherwise you can make your own with baking soda.

mnahmnah · 01/08/2018 18:54

St ives apricot too!

bookgirl1982 · 01/08/2018 18:54

Liz Earle do a good one

Bostin · 01/08/2018 19:18

The dermologica one mentioned above is expensive but you hardly use any and it lasts for a very long time.

cholka · 01/08/2018 19:24

Brown granulated sugar. Oil of some sort like almond or coconut. Simple and cheap...

babypsmum · 01/08/2018 19:26

Korres Wild Rose is great!

holycityzoo · 01/08/2018 19:33

I used to love the Japanese washing grains. It's was a bit like washing your face with gravel but bloody hell you used to glow afterwardsGrin

nothingwittyhere · 01/08/2018 19:33

Superfacialist Rose scrub is gritty but gentle and smells beautiful. Boots and Sainsbury's sell it.

humanfemale · 01/08/2018 19:35

Some of these sound brilliant, thanks guys. Am torn between the homespun sugar/baking soda OR the ££ dermalogica or korres.

I thought of the Apricot one first, but someone told me the kernel particles are too large / rough and can damage your skin? Might be wrong though?

I've never bought anything dermalogica before, quite fancy it!

Gaaaah the dermalogica stuff is £48

A beauty therapist told me not to use st ives as it's too harsh on your skin but she said the soap and glory one was a really good, value exfoliator - I've been using it ever since!

Polkapjs · 01/08/2018 21:00

Liz Earle

trigger2 · 01/08/2018 22:16

I like the Body Shop Vitamin C one, didn’t irritate my sensitive skin which surprised me.

HereForTheLaughs · 01/08/2018 22:18

I've been using St Ives for years. You don't need to use lots for it to be effective, and I honestly would not trade it for anything else. Its the only thing that makes my face feel really clean!

SlippyPavements · 02/08/2018 00:51

I like using Superdrug vitamin E facial scrub. Cheap as chips too.

Chelseajunior · 02/08/2018 01:02

Homemade honey and sugar! You can put as much or little sugar as you need Smile

Oliversmumsarmy · 02/08/2018 01:05

I know it isn't a facial exfoliator but Lush do Volcano foot scrub that I use on my face and is brilliant.

mintmagnummm · 02/08/2018 06:33

Check the dermalogica on beautythings.co.uk
