Facial exfoliator (a gritty one)

Can anyone recommend me a good facial exfoliator (physical, rather than chemical) with lots of fine gritty bits in it? Not those shite micro plastic beads, though...
I've had one from espa before that was IDEAL but also £30! So hoping for something a little cheaper. 😗

They do a travel size and mini size if you wanted to try it for less ££ to start with. The full size is a little cheaper here too. Personally I'm not a lover of the daily microfoliant, I don't use any exfoliators now but when I did I much preferred the dermalogica skin prep scrub so you might want to check that out too.

St Ives contains crushed walnut shells which can cause micro tears. Baking soda has a ph of 9. Your skin's natural ph should be around 5.5. Therefore you are damaging your skin with baking soda, lemon, many natural ingredients aren't meant to go on your skin.

There are many gentle chemical exfoliates like Mandelic Acid, 5% Lactic Acid and the many retinols/retinoids which, if used carefully and with knowledge, can be very effective.

Your face shouldn't actually feel "squeaky clean" it means you're probably stripping too many natural oils and leaning it too dry, which can lead to more oil/sebum being produced.

Another vote for St Ives Apricot.

If you're worried about it being too rough, just don't rub too hard. Gently does it for me.

I use it gently too, gently but thoroughly iyswim.
I don't think it's done too much harm as I was told last week I look about 28 and I'm 40!Grin

The Nip and Fab glycolic scrub is great. Probably the grittiest I've tried in years.

Clarins exfoliating bamboo scrub is great. Not meant for face but I do once a week followed but Lush Imperialis and my 40 something skin looks bright and healthy.

Nip and fab glycolic and boots no7 micro dermabrasion are my favourites. Properly gritty.

I'm still going strong on my Dermalogica after a year and I use it most days - there's loads of the product in the tub!! Oh, and it's amaaaaazing.

Lush Rub Rub. I use it all over and my skin is noticeably better furva while after. Separately, I can’t recommend Lush Ultrabland cleanser enough. I stopped using it as ran out and hadn’t restocked and now can’t believe the difference sine I started reusing it. Its the only beatit product I’ve ever said I couldn’t be without

I was sent a tester of This with a recent order and really like it - will be ordering full size. Only £7 or thereabouts!

Incidentally, the same website do a factor 50 for the face that I highly recommend. Again, around £7 and it's light, like a gel, and very effective.
