Did you have any ‘work’ done for your wedding?

I.e Fillers, Botox etc? Specifically for your wedding?

I’m considering having some light filler a couple of months before my big day to help reduce the loss of volume under my eyes, plump that area up a bit. I also wouldn’t mind the teeny, tiniest bit of filler put in my top lip.

I feel like this will be viewed as a bit OTT but planned to start having fillers next year anyway?

Lovingtheisland · 28/07/2018 21:17

No, I had my hair cut the day before and used luxury cosmetics. I was 24. I'm just about to celebrate my ,30th anniversary and still wouldn't have anything done

ThePencil · 28/07/2018 22:20

I shaved my legs and got my eyebrows done.

CountFosco · 28/07/2018 22:47

I had my first and only manicure. And my hair put up. Don't think I bothered shaving my legs, I was wearing a long dress!

TillyVonMilly · 28/07/2018 22:55

Had my hair put up and bought some new makeup. I’m now 51 and still don’t want anyone sticking needles in my face Shock

Bitchywaitress · 28/07/2018 23:02

Spent £3K on getting my teeth done and it was the best money spent for the whole wedding!

Bitchywaitress · 28/07/2018 23:03

38 and considering fillers myself. Do they deal with under eye bags?

applesauce1 · 28/07/2018 23:04

I had my lips done 2 months before. It wasn't really noticeable but made me feel great. It wasn't the first or last time though. I probably wouldn't experiment just before the big day in case you don't like how it looks.

pollysproggle · 28/07/2018 23:07

I did! Not fillers just a bit of Botox.

I never thought I would ever get it but I did and I absolutely love it. Knocked 5 years off my face and I definitely don't look frozen just fresher.
I think it's baby Botox what I had so not as much. I'm 35, wedding is next month :)

ThinkingCat · 28/07/2018 23:09

Had a make-up tutorial in a department store.

Really can't understand why people mess about surgically and intrusively with their skin and flesh. Our bodies are amazing biological ecosystems. Not plasticine models to have bits stuck on or removed.

Verbena87 · 28/07/2018 23:09

I beat depression and as a result gained a stone and some muscle tone from running hills and lifting weights. And I plucked my eyebrows, shaved my legs and armpits, tidied up my bush a bit, painted my nails and treated myself to some really nice make up.

I did that stuff because it made me feel good. I felt really happy in my skin on my wedding day.

If the fillers/Botox will make you feel like a goddess on the day, go for it. If you’re doing it worrying how you’ll look in the photos, don’t bother - assuming you’re marrying the right person you’ll look full of joy and contentment, and no product or treatment can replace or match that.

annandale · 28/07/2018 23:11

I had a Prescriptives personally blended foundation made for me at Selfridges. Loved it, wish they still existed. Though the assistant was alarmingly orange.

If you're going to do it, surely as soon as you can, not just before the wedding??

minipie · 28/07/2018 23:12

I was 29 and had my teeth whitened but nothing more invasive than that.

At 31 I wouldn't. If you were 38, maybe...

kenandbarbie · 28/07/2018 23:13

No. I've got better things to spend my money on than that.

Loonoon · 29/07/2018 09:39

annandale I miss the custom Prescriptives foundation SO much. They also had a pop up counter in Harrods once where they did custom lipsticks, I still have the remains of mine tucked away somewhere.

Lovingtheisland · 29/07/2018 09:57

Well, my weddings next year so I’ll be 32 when I actually marry. I was thinking of just getting some light filler done about 4 months before the wedding? I don’t really have any wrinkles (though do have slight creases around my eyes now when I smile) so not sure I’ll bother with Botox.

I just feel like I want to look my absolute BEST! Make up and hair is being professionally done, though haven’t had any trials yet!

kenandbarbie · 29/07/2018 10:59

At 32? Where do you go from there OP?

Meeep · 29/07/2018 11:03

Someone straightened my hair and I used eyeliner and mascara instead of just mascara.

Lovingtheisland · 29/07/2018 12:21

I don’t think it’s that unusual to start having light filler in your 30’s is it? I would only get it done once every 18 months or so. I do know what you mean about where do you go from there, but I do have quite bad sunken, hollows around my eyes already and so I’m not sure I see the point in waiting til I’m 40 to get them sorted?

OP posts:
happymummy12345 · 29/07/2018 12:27

No. I had my nails done but I always do so nothing unusual about it, and I had my eyebrows done again as usual. That's it. I never ever wear makeup and didn't on the day. And the hairdresser couldn't be bothered to turn up on the day and gave no warning so I didn't even have my hair professionally done either.

specialsubject · 29/07/2018 13:18

up to you.

be careful. - a giant dead white frock , helmet hair, a thick coat of slap and painful shoes may be what brides are seen to wear but it is not a good look on anyone.

kenandbarbie · 29/07/2018 14:16

Well it depends, I'm 43 and I don't know anyone who has had Botox, fillers or anything. But then again if you're in an area where lots of people aspire to the footballers wife type of look then it might not be unusual.

annandale · 29/07/2018 14:28

I'm sure I do know people who have had fillers but at 49 I'm certain it would be very unusual among my friendship group. Maybe Botox less so? I probably know a couple who had it in the past but not once they had kids.

ColinsVeryJolly · 29/07/2018 14:39

My mum paid for me to have the colour stripped from my hair (a bride shouldn’t have black hair apparently 🙄) but other than that I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

Thank fuck I got married before social media made us all think we need to look like photo shopped versions of ourselves.
