I keep hearing Havaianas are the Creme de la Creme of the flip flop world. I've been sucked into the website and found leopard print ones that I love.
Are they worth the £23.99 price tag?
How are the any different to my £0.90 Primark flip flops? 😂

These are very comfy

Warsaw0912 · 11/07/2018 14:26

I used to holiday rep as a youth so lived in flip flops for 4~ months a year and can say these are definitely worth the money! Spent the first year and a half in cheapies which meant replacing probs every month - these last forever and stay clean (ish) - as in the material/ plastic doesn’t discolour etc

TurquoiseWeekend · 11/07/2018 14:31

I've got 3 pairs in different colours. My oldest pair is 10 years old and still going strong. I find them much sturdier and comfier than the cheaper ones and will probably save you money in the long run when you work out over the years how many cheaper ones you have to re-purchase after them breaking, rubbing or getting ruined.
I'd 100% recommend them.

ems137 · 11/07/2018 14:32

I live in flip flops for most of the year. Havianas are definitely more hard wearing than cheap brands but not any more comfortable.

My comfiest pair is a Nike Solarsoft. Even my very fussy husband loves them and his have lasted 3 years so far. I bloody lost mine last year so am about to hunt a pair down

BlameItOnTheNeon · 11/07/2018 14:48

I agree with the recommendations for Ipanema, but I like the sandals not the flip flops. They're like walking on clouds, I have never found more comfortable shoes.

Plus they're really pretty and good for smart-casual too, depending on which style you get.
You can just run them under the tap and wash with washing up liquid when they get dirty too :)

bookbuddy · 11/07/2018 14:51

I love mine they never rubbed and I’ve has them 2 years so far they still look new. Check tk max don’t pay full price got a pair from there recently for 12.99

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 11/07/2018 14:59

Another convert here. I bought mine in Costco I wouldn’t have paid full price because I didn’t see the difference between them and primary cheepies but I’ve had them a year and worn them to death and they still look new whereas dd’s primary cheepies from last year were flat and dead by the end of the summer. The soles haven’t sunk and the straps don’t rub.
I saw lots in TKMaxx at the weekend for £10-12

drspouse · 11/07/2018 15:17

Got mine about 8-10 years ago and they are the most comfy ever. I think mine were from Amazon.

Fuckthisforfun · 11/07/2018 16:07

I'll need to head to Tkmaxx I think, luck to have 2 huge ones really close by and another couple of big ones a little bit further away so fingers crossed I find a wee pair in my size to bring home at a bargain price!

Primark are softer but don’t last as long so I have both and alternate between the 2

MorrisDancingViv · 11/07/2018 16:10

I think ipanema flip flops are better (and slightly cheaper). I pretty much live in flip flops from May to October and a pair of ipanema will last me 3 years. The thong doesn't stretch and it takes a while for the sole to wear down. They're also slightly moulded to feet. Usually find them in TK Maxx

luckycat007 · 11/07/2018 19:05

Just ordered a pair for £15 inc postage. Will report when I receive them 👍🏻

MrBennOfFestiveRoad · 11/07/2018 19:13

I wanted some for ages but didn’t think that I could justify the cost, then found some in a hotel gift shop in Cuba for £4. They’re so much better than normal flip flops.

MerryDeath · 11/07/2018 19:23

i like mine, i seem to need a new pair every other summerish. i like design/the slim straps which is worth the price imo. i live in them.

Fuckthisforfun · 11/07/2018 23:04

Oh where from @luckycat007
I'm heading to the shops tomorrow, txmaxx better have some!

eBay!! Smilebrand new too. Uk seller.

DandelionAndBedrock · 11/07/2018 23:33

I have a few pairs of Havaianas and a few Ipanemas. The colour has worn away quicker on my ipanemas but they are significantly more comfortable.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 11/07/2018 23:33

I bought a pair in Australia in 2006 and they lasted 10 years until the sole was worn down in places, but they were the most comfortable things ever.
Bought a pair from Flo & Jo last year or the year before and the strappy bits seem strangely tight, like they're too tight. It's only after persevering that they're just ok this year. Certainly not as comfortable as my originals.

Saw men's ones in tk Maxx for a tenner the other week.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 11/07/2018 23:35

^^as though they're too tight over the top of my feet. Certainly difficult to just slide on.

Todamhottoday · 12/07/2018 05:38

To the op look at TKmaxx on line as well

Canwejustrelaxnow · 12/07/2018 06:06

I think they've changed too. I have about 6 pairs that I bought in Brazil over 10 years ago as only £4. I wore my super slims continuously and after 10 years they started to be in danger of snapping. I got a replacement pair on Amazon last year and they are not good. The toe part keeps bending under and they have rubbed the top of my feet.

GobblersKnob · 12/07/2018 06:30

I find them deeply uncomfortable, though I think they look great. I have two pairs but can only potter in them, I can't even walk to the local shop without them hurting.

Sanuks are amazing, also Reef and Rocket Dog. Fabric toe posts are a million times better.

il0vew1ne · 12/07/2018 08:34

talk to me about the sizing - I am a 6 but the size say 6-7 are they big for a 6 ????

HappyEverIftar · 12/07/2018 09:12

I am a UK 6 and find 39-40 size (6-7 I guess?) fit me just fine.

Egg · 12/07/2018 09:28

I’m currently wearing a pair I bought 12 years ago. They’re still going strong. I have a few pairs and the older ones are better IMO. Some from only a couple of years ago never quite lived up to my older ones.

They are by far the most comfortable flip flops I’ve worn and they don’t give me plantar fasciitis like some others have.
