Fluffy face😩

Nectarinenotpeach · 09/07/2018 12:20

I’m 47 and have developed a very fluffy face- now I’m tanned the blonde fur all over my cheeks/sideburns/chin is so obvious. It’s not suitable for laser treatment though. What are others experiences of hair removal in this area? Threading? Waxing? I’m terrified of doing something that makes it worse or stubbly ( at least it’s currently soft). Any honest advice gratefully received as it’s really getting me down ( pardon the pun)

I'm the same, though I've always been a very hairy lady, so I suppose I'm used to it in a way - it depressed me a lot when I was young, but not so much now because hundreds of other ladies my age are now the same and misery loves company. I don't do anything about the downy stuff. I have developed quite an impressive moustache and beard, though (some mornings I look in the mirror and think I've turned into Brian Blessed!). I DO do something with that! Waxing has been the best thing for me, personally, though I have tried the other methods, including electrolysis. The No-No is a waste of money, if you were considering that.

MrsSnitch · 09/07/2018 12:30

SHAVE it - seriously it’s life changing, makes makeup look so much better. And absolutely no stubble I promise!

stuckficks · 09/07/2018 12:32

Take a look at dermaplaning, it'll sort it all right out and isn't that expensive.

Unobtainable · 09/07/2018 12:32

Shaving ALWAYS gave me spots two or three days later no matter what I used. A beautician I saw said that it was a very common reaction to facial hair removal. I leave mine now.

Babybump2018 · 09/07/2018 12:34

I have mine waxed. What ever you do, don’t shave it!

SeekingClosure · 09/07/2018 12:38

I was honestly going to post the same thing today! My peach fuzz is very noticeable now I'm tanned as it is white. It's very soft and silky though and I don't want to do anything to change this!

I'm scared of shaving. So many years of hearing it makes hair grow back darker, thicker and coarser are hard to ignore, even when I know it's not proven.

Orchidflower1 · 09/07/2018 12:39

Has anyone tried a flawless jml thingy? I’ve seen the advertised but worried it will turn my peach fuzz to peach stubble!

Nectarinenotpeach · 09/07/2018 12:54

OMG I’m NEVER shaving my faceShock

I had the same thought but braved it with a Tinkle Razor (Amazon) and I’m a complete convert now. It’s not like shaving your legs and it doesn’t grow back any differently, certainly not noticeably. Have a look on YouTube where there are loads of videos about shaving/dermaplaning

NoProbLlama78 · 09/07/2018 13:05

Look up facial hair remover on amazon. Its a spring with a little handle either end and you bend it and roll it over your skin to pluck them out. The cheaper ones are less than £2.

NoProbLlama78 · 09/07/2018 13:08

Sorry I mean epistick facial hair remover

Ollivander84 · 09/07/2018 13:11

Dermaplaning. I do it myself with a scalpel

Cuntycrunch · 09/07/2018 13:16

Another here for the Tinkle (Amazon) has changed my fuzz x

Orchidflower1 · 09/07/2018 13:53

I’ve got an epistick but it just doesn’t seem to remove enough. Could be me not using correctly thoUgh!

MerryDeath · 09/07/2018 14:18

i would shave it. waxing would wreak havoc on my skin. shaving is a nice exfoliation. it won't grow back black that's ridiculous.

SeekingClosure · 09/07/2018 14:21

Ok I've just shaved it. I remembered I had a tinkle razor that I use on my brows and it doesn't seem as scary as a normal razor somehow. I've got a lovely smooth face now!

Looking at what I've removed, it seems it wasn't as blonde as I'd thought (although I think I got some of my head hair while doing the top of my sideboards).

I use Sheisedo facial razors and would never go back to threading/waxing/being hairy. Glad it worked out for you - it’s amAzinf how much comes off isn’t it

flowerpicture · 09/07/2018 15:06

Due to bad PCOS I have an actual man beard and I have to shave every single day, often twice a day. It's dark hair but not dark enough for laser to work - I tried. All other methods of hair removal made me react in one way or another.

BeeFarseer · 09/07/2018 15:06

I use those eyebrow razors and shave it. I watched a few YouTube videos first. It's really easy. I have acne prone skin which is easily irritated, and it doesn't break me out. Make-up goes on much smoother the next day too.

caughtinthemiddle2 · 09/07/2018 15:12

Do not shave it!!! I had the same problem and I bought a gadget on ebay called a beauty spring for about £2 and it has changed my life. It does hurt at first until your face gets used to it but it grows back fluffy not stubbly.

Orchidflower1- I tried that and it was stubbly after 2 hours!!! was very embarrassed until it grew back again!!

spanishwife · 09/07/2018 15:18

I second dermaplaning! You can go and get it done, or you can buy tiny razors and do it yourself. The hair is 'vellus' hair, so it doesn't grow back thicker like regular hair does.

bumhead · 09/07/2018 16:10

Would it not grow back stubbly? I once worked with a lady that obviously shaved. She had a 5 o'clock shadow by mid afternoon. I really felt for her. I have the same blonde peach fuzz bullshit going on.
Mother Nature can fuck right off Hmm

spanishwife · 09/07/2018 16:48

@bumhead the peach fuzz hair you get on your face is called vellus hair and it doesn't grow back thicker. Very different to hair growth due to hormonal reasons that is thick and dark to begin with.

EmmaSwann · 09/07/2018 18:16

As it's fluffy you'll be fine shaving it. I shave mine - no problems.

NellMangel · 09/07/2018 23:51

My chin sprouts thick hair ranging from white to jet black. I often find random ones that have grown to a centimetre without me spotting them.

Have been plucking but I bought a jml flawless thing today. Used it when I got home and it removed chin hair well. In fact I keep looking admiringly at my chin! 12 hours later and no side effects.

It was easy to use so no hassle if I end up using daily. Fingers crossed.
