flat summery comfy shoes for 50 year old feet, but chic!

Yes, I need the impossible, some nice flat comfy shoes, that are stylish, maybe even chic. I'm about to start a new job and I will need to dash around campus, and trudge about on buses and on tubes to get there.

I don't want brogues, I would like something possibly in a pale metallic, possibly with a strap and with a nice soft sole. I would also like to be able to wear them bare legged.

I quite like these, but would rather not have silver or black. Same with these, but I think the sole looks a bit OTT. I don't need trainer or sandals as have some already.

Can you help???? Thanks in advance :D

Can you help?

If you find some, please let me know! There's a reason I live in sandals, boots and converse.
Personally,I don't like those shoes - they scream old and jaunty (I'm 54).

Crikey - have looked at Ecco, vivo barefoot, hobbs and Russell and Bromley - not a glimmer of hope. They are all ballet flats or loafers.

&otherstories do great flat shoes particularly for winter. My mum is very stylish and loves shoes, and that’s where she gets a lot of them

Try Reiker shoes, very comfortable

I went to the shoe store in Covent Garden and got pair of these - not particularly chic - but soft and springy and match 88% of all of my clothes.

They had this pair that I might get next time, but they aren't cheap!

Have a look on enbrogue for some ideas. I have these leopard print slippers which get lots of compliments. Love the look of these nude flats from Clarks, or these white loafers from Finery. What about COS or Rogue Matilda?

OCSock · 09/07/2018 20:25

If you can find a stockist near you, Lofina have some really lovely sandals. They look (and fit) like a stylish version of Hotter, but sadly are much, much more ££. The choice is between mega-spend and fugly. That's why expensive brands cost so much more. They do practical, but make it look great.

SarfE4sticated · 09/07/2018 21:04

Thank you CountFosco some lovely suggestions, but I need something with a slightly more cushioned sole - old age and menopause do terrible things to your feet and joints.

OCSock they are lovely shoes, and to be honest would pay more for cool designs. Their scarves are gorgeous too!

50 isn't old (at least I hope not because it's only a couple of years away!).

Have you tried M&S insolia shoes? The ones online now are all very ugly but I've got some smart flats from there that are gorgeous so it might be worth looking when the new season stuff comes in.

PinkysEars · 09/07/2018 21:25

How healthy is your budget? Chie Mihara are extremely comfortable, but also ££.

SarfE4sticated · 09/07/2018 21:45

Well it's not old old CountFosco, but you do start feeling a bit creakier and less willing to suffer for beauty (IMHO). Will look at Insolia though (silly name!) good call.

I have just been looking a chie mahara pinky, have always loved them but hadn't realised they were comfy too. Found them mentioned on an old daily mail article.

Never heard of Chie Mihara - they're gorgeous. Are they honestly comfortable too? That is, could you walk around all day in them or just for short periods?

jelliebelly · 09/07/2018 22:05

Those Chie Mihara are bloody gorgeous - they can't possible be comfortable though!

SarfE4sticated · 09/07/2018 22:12

I've always wanted some Chie Mahara shoes, I think they used to sell them in Toast, and also there was a concession in Selfridges. Not sure if there are any UK stockists anymore.

Have you tried these?

20nil · 09/07/2018 22:29

Careful with Chie shoes. I have a pair of super comfortable heels, but also shockingly uncomfortable flats and sandals that cut my feet to ribbons. Depends on the style.

SarfE4sticated · 09/07/2018 22:29

Thanks Kochkor they look very useful, but I don't need anything that corporate/dressy. Thank you though - will save the site just in case.

I bought a nice pair from Pavers

madcatladyforever · 09/07/2018 22:58

I'm 59 and buy all my shoes from Fashionworld online, they do fashionable E and EE shoes as well.
M&S is also quite good this year too.

SarfE4sticated · 09/07/2018 23:01

They're a little over holey for me housedoerupper but will have a look at the website properly in the morning.

Thanks for the recommendation madcatladyforever will have a look at that site too.

Thanks everyone!
