What suncream are people using this summer?

We’ve been using ultrasun sports gel 30 for the past few years, however it doesn’t have 5* uva/uvb rating so I want to try something else. The Soltan Once gets dreadful reviews for leaving stains and being impossible to rub in andNivea causes DS to come out in rashes. Any suggestions warmly welcome.

Wilkos. 5* rating and only £3.50 a bottle.

AuntieStella · 01/07/2018 15:04

ASDA own brand always scores highly on Which? tests (regularly outperforming named brands, and sometimes being Best Buy)

Danceintherain2018 · 01/07/2018 15:08

Sainsburys baby sensitive. It's factor 50 and 5 stars!

hungryhippie · 01/07/2018 15:10

Green peoples mineral based kids suncream. Its a decent price and the only one that doesnt bring my son out in a rash

missyB1 · 01/07/2018 15:10

We use Asda own for everyday use in this country. Taking Soltan factor 30 with added mosquito repellent on holiday to Greece.

pickledparsnip · 01/07/2018 15:11

Yaoh organic hemp seed oil suncream. I get it in my local health food shop. Never burnt, and not full of the shit most suncreams are.

nevisbump · 01/07/2018 15:13

Aldi suncream for all the family. I have really sensitive skin and no issues and no issues with dcs either

nicknamehelp · 01/07/2018 15:13

P20 not cheap but only need to put on once even on my fair skin.

NellysKnickers · 01/07/2018 15:24

P20 is great, let it dry before getting dressed but one application lasts all day

RailReplacementBusService · 01/07/2018 15:26

P20 factor 30 is 5* for uva

BumbleNova · 01/07/2018 17:23

Vichy - the new water one. Very light, seems to work very well.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 06/07/2018 21:37

So it turns out that Aldi haven’t got the regular stuff in stock anymore. I’ve been told by two shops they’ve discontinued it. The once a day is only spf 20 and isn’t 5* protection!

We're using the Aldi Lacura clear sun spray. 5* rating and I really rate it.

Isleepinahedgefund · 06/07/2018 23:04

I have v v v sensitive skin. So far this summer I’ve used the Aldi baby sensitive spf 50 one -no reaction but found I need to reapply every hour so I don’t think it offers the advertised SPF (I apply A LOT so def not me applying too little). Then tried the Aldi spray, came out in hives.....

Currently using the ultrasun family, 50pr 30, both have PA +++ rating. No problems skin wise so far!

Bestbe · 07/07/2018 06:28

AVOID the M&S ones they have made great yellow stains on my kids white clothes which are impossible to remove.

VetOnCall · 07/07/2018 06:41

Face, neck and chest I use Biore F50, everywhere else I use Superdrug Solait transparent spray. 5 star protection and really reasonably priced - I bought more the other day and it was buy one get one half price. It's not greasy, cruelty-free, dries almost instantly, lasts for ages and works brilliantly, I've been out in the sun every day with my Irish skin and haven't burned at all. I'm really impressed with it.

Cassimin · 07/07/2018 06:48

I use ALDI. Anyone under 13 gets the p20.
Have always put this on my kids and no one has ever burnt.
Word of warning, we ran out one day and put pizbuin once a day on my youngest.
His face swelled up and was bright red.
We were in Cuba and they said he had sunburn, gave him steroids and wanted to give him injections.
Came home, googled it and a few people had the same thing.
Not allergic to anything else, so be wary about buying it.

43percentburnt · 07/07/2018 06:53

Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s and asda - all factor 50 with 5 star Uva. We regularly change supermarkets and happily grab any of the above.

tierraJ · 07/07/2018 08:43

I'm using piz buin spf 30, 4 uva stars.

It's fine but I need to choose one that's more waterproof

BagelGoesWalking · 09/07/2018 19:32

Altruist from Amazon is very good, esp for sensitive skin. On Amazon. I've heard that the 30 spf is less shiny than the 50 so better on the face.

I also like Avène tinted sunscreen 50 spf. It looks quite dark in the bottle but is fine once on.

Lotsofsausage · 09/07/2018 21:14

piz buin spray. love the smell and rubs in easily, non greasy.

Onynx · 10/07/2018 00:36

Boots own brand Soltan - also 5* and fine on whole family.

dameofdilemma · 10/07/2018 14:59

Boots or Superdrug own brand baby suncream factor 50 are generally ok for our eczema prone skin. Moisturising and rub in ok.

Aveeno or Eucerin are better for our faces though (but ££s so only use for face).

So many brands (inc Clinique and Jasons) have caused a reaction I'm really wary now.

LesLavandes · 10/07/2018 15:05

Lancaster

gryffen · 10/07/2018 15:17

Piz Buin Allergy 30/50 for adults and banana boat cream for toddler.

Got a full size sample of Ladival and it's brilliant stuff just a little greasy putting on - again spf50 and safe on really sensitive skin.
