Am I a spring or a summer?

I’ve done a ton of those online quizzes but still can’t figure it out!

I have pale skin ( with some freckles now the suns out) that can sometimes have red undertones. But I also sometimes see yellow undertones? I tan very lightly to a sort of pale honey colour but easily burn. I cannot work out of my veins are green or blue. One is definitely blue but the others are hard to distinguish.

My eyes are green but other people mistake them for blue. They go emerald green when I cry. Eyelashes and eyebrows are dark brown.

My natural hair colour is mouses brown but was a bright yellow blonde when I was a child. I have highlights and my hair is currently a warm blonde - too warm I think.

Anyone have a clue?! 😄

Oooh I dunno but you have very similar colouring to me, so watching with interest ..... Grin

It’s so hard! Ordinarily I’d say my skin tone is cold but now with freckles and a light tan I’m not so sure 🤨

My skin tans quite easily and I go quite brown. But I have freckles and same eyes as you!

My hair has warm tones, which I ask the hairdressers to cool!

Do you suit silver or gold jewellery better? Silver would mean summer, and gold spring.

Piccolino2 · 30/06/2018 16:49

I really don't think you can tell yourself and some people are trickier than others (or perhaps I was just clueless). If you don't want to go the route of having your colours done professionally your best bet would be to try lots of clear, warm and bright colours (spring) on in the daylight v's the cool muted colours and see which make you look good, look under your eyes for a change. This all depends on how good you are at knowing which colours are which, I think it takes a lot of practise.

endofthelinefinally · 30/06/2018 16:57

Springs look really washed out in pale, cool pastels.
They look good in coral pink, cobalt blue, bright peach tones.
If you can find a couple of teeshirts or scarves, one cool pink, the other bright orange, place a mirror in natural light, hold each scarf under your chin in turn. The right colour will smooth out your skin, lift your chin and fade shadows under your eyes.
It works best if you cover your hair with a white towel or turban.
Summers can wear some spring colours if they have a tan.

Cool pink = cool/summer, orange = warm/spring.
You can use those 2 base colours to determine Winter and Autumn too.
Once you know if you are cool or warm, you can work out if you are better with bright colours or muted.

Whatfreshhellisthis18 · 30/06/2018 17:29

I don’t really suit silver or gold jewellery 😂

I think I’m probably cool as unless I’m slightly tanned like now then my skin is very cold ( dead) looking a lot of the time 😫

I suit pale blue - that’s all I know! I think I look ok in black too though I think that’s supposed to be a no-no for both palettes?

The shops are always full of sludgey colours I find so I wear a ton of grey.

Posted too soon. I think pale grey suits me well enough. I don’t think orange would suit me .

It isn't a case of whether orange suits you - very few people suit orange.
It is whether the reflected light enhances or reduces facial shadows, irregularities, or wrinkles.

I am a summer. I would never wear a strong cool pink, but it is the right reflector colour for me.
Sorry - I am probably not explaining it very well. It is one of those things you have to see. Grin

endofthelinefinally · 30/06/2018 17:52

If you suit pale blue/grey, try navy, burgundy, taupe, pale lemon yellow, lilac, soft blue green, muted powder pinks. Silver jewellery.
Use ash tones in hair colour, not warm.

Whatfreshhellisthis18 · 30/06/2018 17:58

Those all sound like colours that suit me. Is that spring or summer?

The hair is the challenge. Hairdressers either make me golden blonde or grey 😫

Summer.
Ask for ash blonde. There are several shades from Ash brown all the way to lightest Ash blonde.

endofthelinefinally · 30/06/2018 18:16

Good luck.
I am going out now. I hope you find some lovely new clothes.

WowLookAtYou · 30/06/2018 18:34

I'm a spring, and get stumped with jewellery. All the clean modern designs I like are in silver, which looks awful on my skin, unless I have a tan. The only gold I can go for therefore, is a light one.

Clionba · 30/06/2018 22:56

I honestly don't think there is any such thing. It's very limiting to label yourself. There are so many shades in every colour, just find what you like, what makes you look and feel good!

WowLookAtYou · 01/07/2018 00:16

But Clionba that's exactly the idea behind colour consulting. That anyone can wear any colour, but that you should wear the tone/shade of that colour that suits you.

Clionba · 01/07/2018 03:11

Right, but surely it's subjective? Also, what if "your shade' isn't currently in fashion and not available? I just think it all sounds a bit limiting, but each to their own!

WowLookAtYou · 01/07/2018 08:35

Do you build up a core wardrobe of timeless pieces as and when you see them. And if you're a slave to the current fashion, even if those particular shades make you look washed out and unwell, then that's still your choice about whether to go ahead and buy it anyway. It's not compulsory to only wear a colour that suits you!

Clionba · 01/07/2018 08:41

No, but I think any woman should wear anything they like! I'm not a slave to fashion, but have to buy what's available, not every colour is available every season. I was told by one of these "consultants" never to wear orange, but I do because I love it and it cheers me up! Anyway, if it works for you and others, brilliant. I think it's a bit limiting but that's just me! Smile

Uhohmummy · 01/07/2018 09:23

You sound similar to me although my eyes are hazel. I think my overall colouring is muted, so not overly warm or cool, not obviously fair or dark. My veins are green but hair looks better if it’s more ashy than golden. I wear both silver and gold.
I think for this colouring the analysis system isn’t that helpful as I don’t fall into any particular season. Saying that, I think I look best in khaki, coral, bright red, mid blue, charcoal grey, black and dark brown. I look awful in jewel tones, pastels and anything too sludgy. Not sure this fits any particular season but it works for me.

Clionba · 01/07/2018 09:28

Your veins are green? Confused

WowLookAtYou · 01/07/2018 10:05

There are plenty of things I see in shops and in magazines that I like in other people but would never wear myself as they'd look shit on me.
And everyone can wear orange, just need to pick the right shade of it to look good. Most of us can't tell which shades work for us, hence asking for help from a colour consultant.
You can think it limiting, but I'd prefer to save my money to spend on things I know will suit me than go out wearing something that doesn't, just because it's in the shops and marketed as being 'in fashion.' That's what I would call limiting.

Clionba · 01/07/2018 10:36

Yes, who wants to be fashionable? That's so limiting!! I say be individual, wear what you like! Let's be positive about ourselves.

endthefarts · 01/07/2018 13:27

A good way to tell is to drape yourself with cream and then white to see which looks better or worse. As you eat decides n between spring or summer, draping peach or coral then a cool, dusty toned mid pink would also help (peach = spring, the pink = summer)
