I like the Sanctuary salt scrub or the hot sugar scrub, they feel more heavy duty than others

newdocket · 28/06/2018 09:12

Make your own! Oil (coconut/olive/other), add sugar and salt. Super grainy and moisturising. Also cheaper!

AutumnGlitterBall · 28/06/2018 09:14

I use the Soap and Glory lime and brown sugar scrub (can’t remember exactly what it’s called and the label has peeled off my current tub). I know what you mean about wanting a proper gritty one!

BasicUsername · 28/06/2018 09:24

I do the same as @newdocket -either coconut oil with fine sea salt, or shower gel with fine sea salt.

Just mix it together in a tub and it makes a great grainy scrub.

MrsLettuce · 28/06/2018 09:27

Used coffee grounds are even better than a home made salt (or sugar) scrub. It makes a massive mess in the shower but works a treat, the mess rinses away no bother.

HildaZelda · 28/06/2018 09:52

Soap & Glory. Either 'Sugar Crush' or 'Flake Away'. Often on 3 for 2 in Boots so maybe you could try the two and get a moisturiser as well.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 28/06/2018 14:23

The Nuxe one is lovely. Really effective scrubby bits and very moisturising. Plus it smells good too.

TheCraicDealer · 28/06/2018 14:31

I'm a recent convert to the & Other Stories scrubs. I have keratosis pilaris so have tried all the usual suspects (Soap and Glory, Body Shop, supermarket own brand, etc) but this has just the right consistency of oil and sugar. Added bonus is that the scents are dreamy. My DSis used mine last night and was commenting on the smell it leaves on your skin. Am loving Havana Blues but Sicilian Lemon looks lush too.

MildlyFedUp · 28/06/2018 15:18

I make my own too, with olive oil and salt or sugar.

Verbena87 · 28/06/2018 15:24

Hotel chocolat did an amazing one for a while (smells of heaven, good and scratchy, moisturising, but also the only thing that gets chain grease off my husband post cycling!), but I don’t think you can get it anymore Sad

BlameItOnTheNeon · 28/06/2018 16:49

I second MrsLettuce I also use coffee, just the cheapest I can find, then just before I turn the shower off I rub a lump of coconut oil all over. It makes my skin glow.

sprinkleofsunshine · 28/06/2018 17:23

I like the body shop Brazillian capuachu scrub from spa of the world. It's a salt scrub that blends into an oil so exfoliates and moisturises at the same time and it smells amazing!

HeyLittleRichGirl · 28/06/2018 17:30

I use Optiat.
They reuse coffee grounds .
The Lemongrass Lifter is amazing.
It wakes my skin up.
Brilliant stuff and ethical too.

DarlingNikita · 28/06/2018 17:35

I like some of the Body Shop ones. The pink grapefruit is really refreshing-smelling and grainy enough IMO. The peach and coconut ones are good too. They've got a good sale on at the mo.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/06/2018 18:14

YY BodyShop Pink Grapefruit , non greasy and none of the 'coated' feeling.

But for ultimate scrubbiness , Korean Italian Towels (but you need a 30minute soak which I don't like really) skin just peels off Grin

Sitranced · 28/06/2018 19:27

DIY- oil, sugar and essential oil.

holycityzoo · 28/06/2018 19:48

Queen if you want something that does the job forget scrubs and get some Korean Italy towels your skin will never have felt softer they are amazing!

holycityzoo · 28/06/2018 19:49

Sorry 70s I see you beat me to it!

3legs · 28/06/2018 19:53

Now I tend to just get a cheap supermarket/own brand type scrub, put it in a bigger jar and mix in way more sugar, salt or coffee grounds - I've tried most of the scrubs listed here and none are quite scrubby enough!

bestbefore · 28/06/2018 19:55

Doesn't oil in homemade scrubs clog up the drains?

DiabolicalMess · 28/06/2018 20:17

Ive been meaning to ask for a while now whether grainy scrubs are ok for the environment - I know microbeads are causing a nightmare - but are natural scrubs ok?

45Degrees · 28/06/2018 20:18

I wonder about that too best before
I've heard you should avoid washing coffee grounds down the drain as they can accumulate in the u-bend.
I make my own body scrub with sugar, salt, honey and a little olive oil. I'm tempted by coconut oil, but that is solid at room temperature. I worry about it solidifying again in the pipes!

Processedpea · 28/06/2018 20:20

the rituals scrubs are great, if you want a cheap one just use aapri facial scrub all over

Queenofthedrivensnow · 28/06/2018 21:28

Superdrug vitamin e scrub

SemiAquaticEggLayingMammal · 28/06/2018 21:34

Boots no.7. I am a bit of a no.7 whore at the moment, everything I've tried is really good!
