Purple shampoo

rightthingwrongtime · 09/06/2018 09:18

I have highlighted blonde hair and my hair dresser advised me to get some purple shampoo to prevent it going brassy. I’ve used the L’Oreal expert series and it was ok but does anyone have any other recommendations please?

The Fudge one is the best I've ever used!

I switch between John Freida and Charles worthington both are pretty good. I use to use bedhead but didn't think it was worth the extra money.

emmaliz · 09/06/2018 09:23

I use Charles Worthington ultra violet

GreyHare · 09/06/2018 09:38

I use Osmo Super Silver shampoo, it is very purple and removes all brassy tones from my grey hair.

Bleach London is good and they also do a pink one if you're that way inclined!

Sirzy · 09/06/2018 10:11

I use the osmo one as recommended by my hairdresser

SeagullsStopItNow · 09/06/2018 10:13

Osmo! I leave it on for ten mins. Wear gloves through if you don’t want stained nails, it’s very, very purple.

pockledigg · 09/06/2018 10:19

I bought some gentian violet from Ebay and add a very small amount (I'd start with a few drops-I use about a teaspoon now but I like it to look quite 'purple' and I have thick hair) to my conditioner. Rinse out as usual. Much cheaper and more effective than any purple shampoo in my opinion.

cheapskatemum · 09/06/2018 12:55

That's interesting, pockledigg as presumably gentian violet is the common ingredient in all the shampoos we're mentioning.

I use Daddy O from Lush.

cheapskatemum · 09/06/2018 12:56

I missed out a word there: "presumably the common ingredient", I don't know for sure!

Fanola no yellow - wear gloves. Also works well to apply it to dry hair and rinse it out.

EmmaC78 · 09/06/2018 13:01

I use Fanola no yellow as well. A bottle lasts ages.

Aridane · 09/06/2018 13:09

Fanola no yellow

Sagegreen · 09/06/2018 13:12

ProVoke silver shampoo etc from most supermarkets. Very good.

JobHunting4 · 09/06/2018 13:14

Lee Stafford is the best by far I've found. I get if from boots on 3 for 2.

dontcallmelen · 09/06/2018 13:34

Pro voke purple shampoo is very good, also cheap from savers.

Smashpumpkin · 09/06/2018 13:35

Fudge clean blonde is the best I have used. My hair was a yellow blonde and I used this a few times and it’s went a lovely ashy tone.

BigRedBoat · 09/06/2018 13:45

Bleach London silver shampoo

niceupthedance · 09/06/2018 13:46

Bleach London is great

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/06/2018 14:28

Where do you buy osmo from?

ThatKitKatCrunch · 09/06/2018 14:32

I've got purple hair. Would these shampoos be good for that?

amyddss · 09/06/2018 14:33

The osmo shampoo is great but don't leave it on for anymore than 2 mins! First time I used it I left it on for longer than 5 minutes and had to get a toner because my hair turned blue lol! It is good shampoo though when you use it properly haha.

FrillySpidersWillies · 09/06/2018 14:37

Another fanola fan here - it’s the only shampoo my hairdresser will use on blonde hair it’s fab and £11 a bottle lasts ages

confusedlittleone · 09/06/2018 16:34

Fudge!! Don't use provoke, there's been a lot of bad reviews on it

PickledHoneybuzzard · 09/06/2018 17:46

Can anyone who uses fanola tell me if it contains sulphates? The ingredients aren't shown on Amazon or the other retail sites I looked at.
Sulphate free purple shampoo is very hit and miss. (Liking the idea of adding gentian violet to curly girl friendly products!)
